  1. I wonder if any are reading this thread and getting angry about how unrealistic our trade proposals are? What do you mean? There are unrealistic trade proposals on this board? I'd like to hear more.
  2. I'm sure Phillips is misunderstanding. What would our starting rotation be? Z Lilly Marquis Dempster Gallagher Yuck.
  3. Is it a change or is Lou just acknowledging that Dempster was never going to be handed a starting spot? Well Hendry sure made it sound like he was... http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/columnists/cs-071106rogers,1,2268711.column Granted, he never comes out and says that, but up until now they've sure been content with letting everyone make the assumption.
  4. Well, I sold my Wii for $410 plus $30 shipping on Ebay. I spent the money already on a motherboard, processor, video card, hard drive, 2gigs of memory, and a dvd burner on newegg.com, and only went about $10 over what I made on the Wii. AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ 2.6 Ghz 2gb Ram Radeon HD 2600XT 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 250gb 7200rpm SATA HDD I'm pretty happy about my decision.
  5. Hey now...when others besides me do it...it's trolling.... :P
  6. I have nothing new to report. I just want to add a new post to get everyone unnecessarily excited.
  7. This change of stance is good news.
  8. Go get em Champ!
  9. Zambrano is jealous.
  10. They won the battle of the Meche so don't be so sure! That wasn't so much a battle as a "conflict".
  11. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-071203cuban,1,1398280.story?coll=cs-home-headlines
  12. Huge mistake by Boller.
  13. Hahahahaha. I pay attention to this team just for the comedy sometimes.
  14. I finally put my Wii up on Ebay. And after going through all the trouble soliciting opinions and whatnot...I think I'm gonna use the money to upgrade my computer instead. Dual core and DX10. I use my computer SOOO much more than I use my consoles...it's always been that way. It seems like the smart move for me.
  15. This is just fantastic news.
  16. What it's capable of?? Like what? I suppose getting in the way of even MORE rampant abuse of illegal substances....which aren't just illegal in baseball, but illegal in the "real world" as well. Don't any of you realize that the "Old-Timeyness" is what separates the game from other sports and makes it special? I'm really late back to this discussion...sorry about that. My comment was more about how the "Old-Timey" attitude about baseball affects the sport in other way besides this whole PED issue. I'm not justifying the use of PED's...but do think that the issue is focused on with the MLB much more than other sports, I think this attitude is part of it. Baseball is no longer America's pastime. It might be something we all love here on this board, but for the vast majority of americans, I'd be willing to bet that football has taken the place of baseball in their hearts. Baseball lost it's "Old-Timeyness" during the strike. It was no longer about the game, but about money. And that's fine. That's what sports are now. But so many people in and around baseball still hold on the "Old-Timey" mystique around it. There's nothing wrong with enjoying the historical aspects of baseball. But that doesn't mean you can't move forward and change the game with the times. "Old-Timeyness" keeps things like "grit" and "cluch" and "hustle" and "He's a good baseball man" in the lexicon. It keeps players in the game far past their prime because baseball has a long memory and can remember when so-and-so was a good player, even though they aren't now. It's things like this that I was referring to.
  17. For real, I'm really tired of this getting attention. I know I don't care in the slightest. You say that, but I think you might care if somehow Lee, Aram, Z, or Woody showed up on the list. Odds are that one of them will. And I still won't care. Put it another way: Does ESPN rip Rodney Harrison for being suspended for PED's? How is baseball more sacred than football? Old-Timeyness is why. And I don't have a care in the world for Auld Thyme Base-Ball. Because it isn't 1927 anymore. Nor is it 1967. Exactly. And this isn't the only place that Old-Timeyness gets in the way of baseball becoming what it's capable of.
  18. Wasn't there a news story about the Mitchell Report having names like a month ago? This seems like it's rehashing old information because an owner said it. It would hilarious if his "source" was just that article a month ago... :P
  19. Well no one else has done it yet, so I'll do it. The inevitable "pile of crap for a Cy Young winner" proposal. Theriot, Marquis, Pagan, Ohman and Neal Cotts for Santana! WOO!! EDIT: I forgot about Infante. He could also be a piece in that deal.
  20. I think the Cubs are thinking Wood for closer all the way, thought they may insist there is competition for the job. I don't see them going after Nathan.
  21. From what I understand, there's no plans for the 40GB PS3 to have backwards compatibility. I believe they are using that lack of backwards compatibility to reduce the cost, but that's a guess. You could just keep your PS2 around though for your PS2 games.
  22. Matt Clement, Mark Prior, and Carlos Zambrano didn't hurt... Kerry Wood has also been known to strike out a batter or two.
  23. Great idea. Selling as low as possible is always smart. Almost as smart as spending 14 for a guy on the DL. Which is why you put most of his money in "games started" incentives.
