  1. eh, they are WAY smarter than me about lots and lots of things (to be fair that's really not that hard but whatever). Yeah, it's kind of crazy they didn't know at least some of them but I wouldn't know anything along those lines w/ hockey or soccer either tbh. i just choose not to watch those sports (not hating on them just a personal preference). also:
  2. really interesting article. thank you for sharing
  3. No announcing of a signing tonight out of respect for Trump’s state of the union address imo
  4. Yeah, when did NSBB go away and the switch to NSB happen? I miss having NSBB as a domain. I think Tim sold it (to be clear I don't care - don't ban me, Tim)
  5. this offseason is so slow the board is almost exclusively gifs/chat of slow cookers, crisscross applesauce, and dog pics (ok, well that one is cool). these players not signing are trying to kill NSBB! (i refuse to call it NSB)
  6. out of curiosity, what do they call "indian style" these days? Crisscross apple sauce. my mom used to just say "sit cross-legged" or something along those lines. but yeah, i've heard crisscross apple sauce too.
  7. It’s crazy how many racially insensitive things are/we’re out there. My mom was a Kindergarten teacher and I grew up learning how to sit “Indian style” (they did finally address this and now it’s not called that in schools). Hell, my boss now still says things like “we had a pow wow” which I know offends one of our co-workers on some level. She’s a light skinned Native American and she asked her how far back she had to go for her Native American roots. She replied, “ummm. Both my parents?”
  8. I, too, commonly engage in self deprecating humor but this is too far, Tim.
  9. back-to-back-to-back mad men gifs again???
  10. I love pretty much everything about her. she is my current crush tbh
  11. Shocking, given username. i mean we've got dudes named after starlin castro on here, and a guy with a jen-ho tseng avatar so (holy crap bill hall hit 35 horsefeathering home runs one year) obligatory nsfw
  12. was beaten with the "you know it's gonna be javy baez jr if it's a boy" but the thought of my almost 3-year old son one day rooting for javy baez jr. made me smile. also, give him a break for the MLB neck tattoo. i think all of us can think of decisions we made when we were 11 that we wish were different.
  13. I’d be fine if they just played totally random old Cubs games which i didn’t know who wins or loses. Half the time I’m barely paying attention to the TV anyway and I’m working (lol jk im dicking around usually) on the computer.
  14. saw kenny lofton's twitter account while browsing brett's page and sent a quick shout out to kenny and aramis and said how much i appreciated their time with the cubs and 2003 overall (though ending heartbreaking-ly, it was a lot of fun). said both are some of my all-time favorite cubs and lofton liked my reply. maybe that's not that uncommon but it was cool as hell because lofton was amazing. also, i wanted to tweet at famous people to piss derwood off, too.
  15. heard on the radio that someone (not kiper) had a source close to Browns and said they are really, really impressed by Allen and are likely to pick him. In addition to the "grain of salt" behind all of this is that, why would anyone in Cleveland float that out there when there is no upside in them taking someone that isn't (to say the least) a sure-fire #1? Counterpoint, of course, is because Browns.
  16. It was mainly a joke to begin with based on his minor league pic. But, yes, I’m pulling for him.
  17. Better? brought back my JHT avatar (updated because my man made it!) for david to notice me and so people don't further confuse me with mul21. i wouldn't wish for anyone to be confused with me
  18. counterpoint: no free agents are signed ever again
  19. It is way different. But for years, it was a lot less likely that in order to get a guy for the bullpen, you had to give him a multi-year deal. I think now that you do, it makes sense to grab the guy you really like and hope you start your window in year 2 or 3 of his deal. jim hendry saw the market inefficiency too early it seems
  20. [tweet] [/tweet]
  21. state sucks (at least right now). i think/hope keats will be the answer at coach but this is going to be a long year. i can see them improving with his system as the season goes, but right now it's brutal. they also have their starting PG suspended which doesn't help, but the entire team right now makes me feel like playing basketball is the most awkward thing any of these athletes can do.
  22. thought this was interesting over at bleacher nation, though it may be common sense for many of you. basically, it just goes over draft implications and looks at picks over the past several years in the range for the cubs this year. also, delves in the IFA bonus pool considerations. http://www.bleachernation.com/2018/01/04/how-much-should-cubs-consider-draft-related-consequences-of-signing-arrieta-darvish-or-cobb/
