  1. TAKE THAT, REGULAR SHOW
  2. classic "older brother" opinion imo It probably is an "older brother" opinion. Well, I trust my opinion over that of someone who says "Jen Ho-Tseng is my man" and uses him as their avatar pic lol. Well i was just joking with you honestly lol lol
  3. i generally agree with all here with this. but why does the runner start at second? why not first? that way a conservative (but probably smart) "bunt and medium depth fly ball" route is not the outcome to many games. if they are trying to make the game more exciting that's counterproductive.
  4. I was watching it again and the leg definitely comes to a complete stop, but there is still some slight movement in his upper-body area/arms. It's not as smooth as Kershaw's motion for sure. I really hate the balk and it's really hard to determine whether a pitcher committed a balk or not in some cases. I don't believe umps will call a balk on Darvish as long as he doesn't pause that leg motion for too long. You hate the balk? classic "older brother" opinion imo
  5. i loved jake when he pitched really well for the cubs but i always thought he was kind of a douche. i don't wish him ill will but that fact - along with i think he's perhaps set for marked regression - make me not the least caring about this. all said, he's been dead to me since the cubs were eliminated last year. (but thx jake for the memories) i miss dexter so much more
  6. to be fair they didn't ask him how comfortable he feels in LF which would probably be "definitely not remotely comfortable"
  7. Theories are better when they are based on data. Your theory has... a lot of holes. Obviously, it is untested but many smart people have observed this as well. Not just in baseball, but in other sports and hobbies. In baseball alone, you have C. Seager and J. Upton right now. Famous examples include V. Guerrero and G. Maddux and P. Martinez and J. Torre. I mean I'm cherry-picking, but this theory isn't a new one. Jered Weaver was much better than his older brother, Jeff. I could keep going on and on... There are plenty of examples of the older brother being the best at a particular sport as well. Maybe there is no correlation or strong bias either way. I would be interested in seeing a thorough study. what are your thoughts about sliding into first base?
  8. The problem is when those horsefeathers people are family. Hell no. You can just remove their horsefeathers from ever showing up on your timeline if you don't want to make unfriending them or not even friending them in the first place a thing; I'm not letting horsefeathers family ruin the easiest way I can keep in touch with people. I basically moved every 2-3 years, often to a different country, my whole life until I was 30; FB is perfect for being able to keep contact with the people I want to from all of that. i get that it's still quite useful and a great platform for people to stay in touch and many people still like it and use it and that's awesome. i've not bashed anyone for still wanting to use it - i get it. i also get that it is not complicated to mute or unfriend or snooze or whatever may be the case for some people. my issue is 1)i'd be doing that for a LOT of people (greenville is certainly more blue as it's a college town - my hometown in NC is...not) and 2)i just genuinely don't care that much most of the time maybe that makes me a jerk or something (not ruling that out) but i stay in touch (almost daily or weekly) with much of my family and friends through texting or calling or snapchat or whatever. the people i care about i pretty much know what's going on. and yes, brandon is right that i follow very few people i know in real life on twitter. it's mainly sports and politics and such (and david, duh). i mainly just use it to get news and things that make me laugh and i generally just have some sort of sarcastic humor tweet i'll fire off every now and then (nothing controversial, though). to me it's just a completely different experience and one that i prefer far more than FB. ETA: hurry up opening day if for no other reason than to distract mojo from hot topics like "why someone who doesn't prefer to use facebook anymore should actually not feel that way because reasons"
  9. didn't think this was mentioned elsewhere but figured it may just barely be newsworthy and somewhat interesting: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/03/nl-notes-cubs-gohara-norris-mets.html
  10. maybe it's a personal situation bc of my situation but giving up facebook is actually one of the better decisions i've made in the past few years. i've missed it literally none. there were a few days after i gave it up when i would pick up my phone and then realize the app wasn't there but that was it. it was basically this before i gave it up: *scrolls through feed*' -don't care -don't care -that's racist -don't care -that just makes me jealous of you -don't care -that's REALLY racist and now i don't like you -don't care it just got so draining and i realized that if i cared about sharing anything with anyone then i would do that personally. i love twitter and it's also a platform in which my boss or other people of that accord don't follow me. not that i'm tweeting anything that would be volatile or anything but i like a bit of privacy if i'm posting anything online. but that's just my situation i suppose. it's not like i judge people for being on it still - just was a good call on my part imo
  11. I'll be dead before I log on to Facebook, sonny boy. http://i0.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/019/304/old.jpg the ironic part of this is that no young people even use and/or care about facebook anymore
  12. the bob sanders and woodchip posts back-to-back are so freaking awesome
  13. no but i gave you one more shot at trying anyway
  14. I always really like following this thread every year so thanks to bukie (and umfan and others that contribute). it's by far the busiest time of year for me so it's hard to keep up with all that's going on but i love college basketball and this makes it way easier. please keep doing this and thank you.
  15. He's ranked 164th in BA's current top 300 draft list. That's potential top 5 round territory. I would love if the Cubs got him (and he knows that bc my office is a Cubs shrine tbh). He's got really great makeup - love the guy.
  16. so i know an ECU baseball player fairly well, Dwanya Williams-Sutton (OF). Any chance he's a somewhat high draft pick? Any of you guys heard of him? he's a super smart and down to earth guy. Theo and Jed came to Greenville a few years back to scout Hoffman (they ended up drafting Ryan Williams on what I assume they saw of him that day). I asked Dwanya to give me a heads up if he heard any Cubs scouts were coming. He messed his wrist up last year and this year he screwed up his thumb but said he is coming back on Tuesday from that. so the stats may not be all there. But the dude is built like a linebacker and has a lot of power.
  17. After a good, long nap, that last 20 min of the Radford/Liberty game was a lot of fun. Ready for March Madness now to tide me over until opening day!
  18. Badler had basically the same article a year ago. The thought of scouting 12-year olds feels icky. Ha! I said this to my girl friend this morning almost verbatim when i was checking up on this thread. I said it just makes me cringe and seems weird
  19. completely biased opinion but i think chubb is going to be one hell of a player. i really look forward to seeing him (and barkley) play next year. i'll probably adopt a "team-i-root-for-but-not-a-true-fan" mentality for wherever bradley goes. i did same for rivers in SD. it's kind of nice bc even when SD sucks it still adds some interest level when i'm at the bar and looking at a dozen TVs. chubb seems like a really good guy to root for - never got that vibe, personally, with mario williams or many other top NCSU pics. it's kind of crazy that NCSU had rivers, wilson, glennon, and brissett starting in the same week in the nfl. how the hell does a college have that many QBs in the recent past that are NFL-starter worthy(ish) and not be more successful college program?
  20. How about you give them all to the Cubs at minimum salary? I'm sure we could use the depth. nah. lynn is way too ugly for this team. only beautiful men (i'm turning a blind eye on duensing) need apply
  21. i remember mike freeman now solely because i remember going who the hell is mike freeman for like 12 games last year well clearly he's on steroids so color me intrigued for his 2018 campaign
  22. Yeah I'd say brewers adding one more pitcher plus signing still FA Jesus Christ and it may come down to the wire in September
  23. hate to burst your bubble, but a few mound visits will probably be ample time as a random aside: the girl i've been "seeing" for a couple years is going to quantico in about a week to be an FBI agent so I've got to find someone new for 2018 cubs playoffs. i will do my best for you guys, it'll be my primary motivation.
  24. hate to burst your bubble, but a few mound visits will probably be ample time
  25. Huh??? Your name is literally JERSEY CUBS FAN It's like my whole world is now turned upside down.
