  1. In theory, but they rarely end up doing that. And leaning heavy on the "big boys" early isn't ideal either, as those guys usually don't go long in games anyway, and need to be conserved a bit. And wouldn't they want to give Wells rest when they can, considering his lack of 200 inningness? Lou has proven that he is pretty good with pitch counts during his tenure (at least with starters). I would trust him to place those guys on a somewhat strict pitch count and relinquish the rest of the game to the relievers. And, if JH has provided depth at one position, it's relievers. As for Lilly, everything I've read states that he'll be ready to join the rotation by season's second month. He's not a power pitcher, so I have faith that even if he is a little slow to regain last year's form, he'll be a decent option. It's a roll of the dice, but I doubt he'll be a liability, even if he misses the first month.
  2. With the Cubs having two off days in the first two weeks, wouldn't they just go with a four-man rotation for that time period? Hopefully that would mean we'd only need Gorzo/Shark/etc. to start perhaps three games before Lilly is back.
  3. What does this even mean? He didn't really care for discipline, he never had control of the team. For the most part he didn't have a plan on what he wanted to accomplished as a coach. In other words, he pretty much tried to "wing it" as a coach. And we both now that the best coaches are often micromanagers. Micromanager Mike Shula was not. Although I have my doubts that is why he truly failed, my question was why the hell would he have worked for ECU, then? But it's since been clarified. Thanks guys.
  4. Did you plagiarize this after you saw it on paper?
  5. I'm happy with the McNeil hire, too.
  6. What does this even mean?
  7. That team has a lot of talent. They were certainly hitting on all cylinders last night, but it's not like Duke really beat themselves - they were just outplayed. They've got a really good class coming in next year as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see them ranked this year at some point; or to seem them ranked pre-season next year.
  8. Big win from my wolfpack tonight! God I loved Mike Krzyzewski's face with about a minute to go.

  11. eh, whatever then. like another poster insinuated earlier, lou's lineups are only as good as his current temperament. If soto has a little more luck in ST, he'll undoubtedly be moved up the line-up.
  12. Go chargers! I said it before and I'll say it again, a Saints/Chargers Super Bowl would be very interesting...
  13. I don't believe that. It sounds like speculation from Muskat.
  14. Great news. Considering he was more unlucky last year than ineffective, this bodes very well for 2010. I never thought he was particularly slow (defensively at least), but a slight decrease in his power could be overlooked if every other aspect benefited from his new frame. I think any small decrease in power would surely have to be trumped by his increased durability and overall stamina from shedding 40 lbs.
  15. If you want them, I can trade with you. I appreciate it. I root for the skins as well, so I'll probably just stick with them. They have plenty of holes to fill, that's for sure.
  16. Whoops #-o
  17. no problem. Redskins available? If not, I'll take the panthers
  18. it's almost as if they're a different breed...right omc? I'm probably overstepping my bounds here, but when it comes to certain diseases, yeah you could make a case that different races are different "breeds" - at least when it comes to susceptibility to diseases. The genetic makeup of certain races make them more, or almost solely, receptive to certain diseases.
  19. anybody picked the chargers yet?
  20. Chow has more talent in his pinky than Lane Kiffin ever dreamed of (or inherited).
  21. You can still have the coach Tennessee should have hired – Mike Leach. :D I would be ecstatic
  22. Vikings 24, Cowboys 21 (Suisham misses field goal goal as time expires) Saints 40, Cardinals 35 Chargers 28, Jets 13 Ravens 31, Colts 28 (OT)
  23. Guys, maybe you all didn't see my post a couple pages ago, but EAST CAROLINA UNIVERSITY is in the middle of a coaching hunt. Let's get back on track here... :-)
  24. Skip Holtz has skipped town for USF. Honestly, I have mixed feelings. On one hand he lead us to back to back conf USA championships. On the other hand, we looked completely overmatched this year in most OOC games and some of his in-game decisions made me scratch my head. Either way, you have to move forward mow. I suppose Leech is a pipe dream, but I could see Jagodzinski being a real possibility with his ECU ties.
  25. I'd be interested if it was a one year contract for a low price (i.e. 2MM). He mashes LHP and would be a nice platoon option for Fukudome in right; as well as a power bat off the bench that we desperately need. I would hope there would be enough cash left to bring in Sheets, too, of course.
