  1. Well played Guilty as charged as well. Guilty, also
  2. What does this mean? The slider call to Uggla, the sliders to Gonzalez there. Orel was spot on, you had him 1-2 and you accelerated his bat with fastballs only to throw him sliders. Yeah, but other than Gregg's 2 pitches and Marmol not knowing how to throw a strike, the cubs pitchers have been lights out. I don't think Hill's game-calling is the problem.
  3. what the hell is lou doing? Has he been announced? Open your ears idiot.
  4. Why does Lou still look surprised? He's been terribly wild all year. Most of the time he's just good enough to overcome his wildness.
  5. Just when I thought you couldn't be any dumber... Attack the post, not the poster, please. Sorry, I wasn't attacking anyone. My attempt at a Dumb and Dumber quote must not have come across as intended! I believe he said "you fully redeem yourself" just nitpicking :)
  6. Koyie Hill is a defensive juggernaut
  7. Ramirez was probably just really gassed if I had to guess. He looked woozy and they never looked at his elbow. I'd say a day of rest would probably be the best remedy /glass half full
  8. Yes! Good game. We needed to win a game like this. I so expected us to give in when they gave up the lead in the ninth.
  9. I never understood why anyone would find any fault in Brenly. He's a really good and entertaining color man ETA: I DO NOT want him as the cubs manager. Ever.
  10. Both starters have exactly the same ERA and WHIP. That's odd.
  11. Yeah, I'm not sure why you would be unhappy about this trade - or the fact that he is left handed. All indications and reports seem to think he is finding his 2007 form when he posted a 112 ERA+. I'd bet that he'll probably be better than Kevin Hart, both for the remainder of this year and years to follow. And he's essentially taking Lilly's spot in the rotation, so opposing clubs would have faced a lefty one way or another anyway.
  12. That's a bit surprising that the Marlins are still asking so much for Hermida. He's been extremely mediocre over his last 1000 PAs. ETA: Seems like every post I make someone has said the same thing a moment earlier
  13. I'm surprised and quite pleased that Hendry made a decent deal here.
  14. Hart may stick as a no. 5 starter, but in my opinion, he was bound to implode at any moment. Ascanio was an interesting arm, but probably nothing more than an average reliever. The reasons I really like this trade is that: (a) hopefully Marshall will now be allowed to pitch full innings, instead of relegated to the LOOGY role, and (b), Gorzellany has much, much more upside and potential than Kevin Hart. With the team appearing to play up to their talent level as of late, I don't think we needed to ship off any legitimate prospects. This has the potential to at least slightly improve an already good ball club, both now and down the road. ETA: Basically what TT said two posts above - guess I should have just done the +1 thing :)
  15. I thought the all caps gave it away
  16. Are standing on a corner? We stopped by Winslow, AZ last summer when we visited Phoenix/Grand Canyon/San Diego. It was a very, very tiny town (smaller than I would have thought), but they actually have a statue of Jackson Browne (who wrote the song, not the Eagles) on the corner in which he supposedly stood when he wrote the song. Apparently, Browne was traveling on Highway 66 from Chicago to California and his car broke down in Winslow. He had to wait a few days to get his car fixed and he wrote the song during that time. There was a little gift shop we stopped at that was on the same corner as the statue. When we walked in, the lady had an eagles DVD playing and it was on "Take it Easy". She said, "wow, I can't believe that this song is on! What a huge coincidence! (laughter)". Little did she know that I looked in the store window when we were walking up to the shop and I saw she was watching at D Backs game and switched it to the DVD right before we went in. It was a nice effort, though, and so I bought a magnet.
