  1. Is the wind still blowing out? I've been battling my desktop for the last hour or so.
  2. Don't worry guys, we're going to win this one right now.
  3. I could care less about his ego. The problem is that he's ten times the baseball announcer than anyone in the Cubs booth, both the TV and radio side. I don't want to be friends with him, I just want a quality baseball broadcast. Why is your opinion always wrong?
  4. You advocate jettisoning Koyie, then? Stay up all night thinking of that one, did you? I wish, try visiting the official greg zaun website. dude didn't bring his z-game
  5. I mean seriously guys, this is even considered "the lead" to ESPN's bottom line. It bumped Favre off - that's legit. I bet he hits .800 from here on out. We're O. V. A.
  6. I've been saying all year that it is just a matter of time. So, I'll say it one more time, it's only a matter of time before he starts raking. I have a gut feeling that he is really going to carry us the last month or two of the season.
  7. You know, getting a productive Ramirez back is kinda like adding a Holliday to this lineup....
  8. I love reading posts like this before my mlb.tv catches up! :D)
  9. Yep, now I'm singing Limelight. Really though, it wouldn't be a bad move. I'd assume he'd cost next to nothing and he's better than Hill. Any upgrade is a positive in my book.
  10. "Historyyyyyyyy!!!!" It's like caveman analysis. Of course it's history. Why not say something constructive, like, you know, a full sentence.
  11. Fukudome Theriot Lee Ramirez Bradley Soto Soriano Fontenot This lineup is just as talented. Now, staying healthy and playing to your talent level hasn't been the Cubs' forte this year, but if you are looking at potential lineups/production - this lineup is just as good. The gap between Pujols and your best player, kinda voids all the rest of the comparisons. What comparisons? There was one comparison - the two lineups. The Cubs have underperformed all year, if they play like they can and are supposed to, they are just as talented as a whole. If the Cubs continue to play like they have (or keep getting hurt), then the Cards will have the better lineup, even without Dunn or Holliday.
  12. That's some really funny stuff.
  13. That's fair. But realistically we are stuck with a senile, old manager who is obsessed with old school role's such as LOOGYs. There will be a LOOGY on this team whether we like it or not. I'd rather that LOOGY be Rhodes (for a very small price) than Marshall.
  14. So you don't want a reliever who has an era under 2 and a whip under 1? :-k Call me crazy but he would be an asset to the bullpen. Want to bet on where his #s finish? Last year lefties OPSed .447 against him. I'd bet, if only used against lefties (which I'm sure would probably happen), he'd be a valuable bullpen arm. He wouldn't be a savior or anything, but he'd be useful, as mentioned before, if for no other reason than to allow Marshall more flexibility either as a starter or a reliever.
  15. Fukudome Theriot Lee Ramirez Bradley Soto Soriano Fontenot This lineup is just as talented. Now, staying healthy and playing to your talent level hasn't been the Cubs' forte this year, but if you are looking at potential lineups/production - this lineup is just as good.
  16. Well lefties are OPSing .324 against him this year. I think he's about as sure of a bet as you can find as far as LOOGYs go. I don't want him as an 8th inning guy and I certainly wouldn't give up anything of even remote value to acquire him, but they could do a lot worse if all they want is a loogy. Hopefully then Marshall could exit the "LOOGY" role and pitch entire innings (gasp!).
  17. Olney also said the Reds may have some financial restrictions that they need to take care and mentioned Arthur Rhodes as a LH relief pitcher who could conceivably be dealt to the Cubs. I hadn't taken notice, but wow - are his numbers impressive this year! A 264 ERA+ and a WHIP just under 1. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him on board, especially since Baltimore is asking for "top-tier" talent for Sherrill. Of course on the other hand, I think our pen is fine and doesn't need to be "tinkered" with at all.
  18. So, I start teaching and the Cubs look like an anemic offense. I check my iPod right afterward and they've scored 8 runs. That was a nice feeling. It would have been nice to actually see it with my own eyes, but I'll take it.
  19. 6 straight innings of no-hit baseball solid work cubs
  20. Of course the horrid defensive Ibanez makes that play
