  1. hell no, how could you? if the option is jones at three years, or waiting and hoping something else comes along, you wait and hope something else comes along. I mean, Jesus, it's not like Jones is going to put us over the top this year, if nothing else, you go with Patterson or Pie for a month and try to trade for someone with an expiring contract. If Jones had signed for one year, I would have been upset, but not really pissed at Hendry, considering there arent a lot of options, and it would only be a one year stop gap, but the fact that he hamstrung us with that contract for 3 years is unforgivable.
  2. hahahaha i love royo
  3. it was twice in the same game.
  4. Agreed. I think Nomar should be playing LF if anything. How is he going to make those stretches from 1b after a season where he completely tore up his groin? Glad to see him go to the Dodgers instead of the Astros though. It would have been pretty much a guarantee that he would have killed us if he played for the Astros. Does he have to stretch? McGriff never did when he was with the Cubs. He caught the ball right in front of the chest while standing stiffly upright. Karros only stretched a little. Sometimes veteran 1B's are cut quite a lot of slack for lazy defense. I never would've thought Randall Simon could stretch, but he did. Man I would love to see him back. wasnt he so bad in 2004 that he couldnt even get a deal for 2005? I guarantee you he can hit better than Macias did last year, or any of our pinch hitters for that matter. really? cause he had a .404 ops in 2004

  6. Here we go. Seriously, the post could be about trading for Jose Vidro and it would turn into, "Dusty doesn't play young players, he sucks...." Hilariously, what he actually said was "Dusty would play Rich Hill too much". Wtg.
  7. 2 of the players are Cedric Griffin and Ramonce Taylor, btw.
  8. The Downtown Athletic Club has just announced that Brady Quinn has been awarded the 2006 Heisman Trophy. *pumps fists* Gets rid of a Heisman AND a national title contender. Pfft, it's a battle for second place after Chase Daniel. Mo Drew disagrees. So does AD. Wow, I totally forgot he existed (and UCLA played OU!). He'd be my #1 candidate for now, ahead of Quinn. I forgot too. I agree, he has a very good chance. How does Oklahoma look for next year? Unless they have a QB a heck of a lot better than Rhett Bomar coming, or Bomar improves by leaps and bounds, Peterson is going to be eliminated from the race by default. I wouldnt blame you for missing it, since OU was out of the national picture after day one, but by the end of the season, Bomar was 100% better than he was at the start. A lot of it has to do with, as a freshman, in 2004, he was essentially 4th on the depth chart, behind White, Grady and Thompson. That year, Thompson, even though he redshirted, was officially the backup. If White had gone down in a big game, Thompson's shirt would have been pulled, and he would have come in. So, Bomar got no snaps in 2004, and he had to split them in 2005. After he got some jitters out, and started getting all of the snaps in practice, he improved a ton.
  9. yeah, stupid ollie perez cant win 16 games!
  10. this is my new favorite post of all time i was actually on my way to alert you to this post. Great stuff, i didnt think it could get better than the "doorstop" post, but kudos.
  11. yamahama
  12. a gyroball sounds so delicious
  13. only about 1908 of them
  14. Anyone who calls it "coke" is a moron. Coke is a brand name. You dont say "man, i need some burger king." "oh ok, what kind of burger king do you want?" "mcdonalds, please" STUPID
  15. I hope that is sarcasm.... If I were the Cubs i'd just play the rookies, Cedeno, Pie, and Murton. If they put up the numbers Bill Jame projected i think we have a very good chance of making the playoffs. If not by 2007 they should all be ready for a big years. I got this from Gammons...Cubs CF Felix Pie to hit 21 HR and an .874 OPS; Cubs INF Ronnie Cedeno .310 with an .800 OPS; Murton .318 with an .859 OPS. I'm going to take a wild stab and say Gammons has probably never seen Pie play. If Pie has an .874 OPS, I'll assume that he will have to hit somewhere between .330-.350 to have that high of an OPS considering he has a walk rate that hovers right around where Corey's is, and he has yet to develop the power Corey had in 2003 when Corey's OPS was .840. Basically 3 rookies that will all hit .310 or better? I want some of what he's smoking. Yeah, there is no way Cedeno has an 800 ops. Is he really going to slug over .450 ihis first year n the majors? He'll be lucky to do that, like, ever.
  16. Maybe he just realized that Arkansas' football team sucks. Why would any big-time recruit want to play for them? That is what I didn't get, all I can think of is that he is from Arkansas. Arkansas has been on him for a long time, If I remember right, most of Arkansas top recruits have gotten out of state recently, so there has been a big push to keep this guy in state. For OU, we just got a RB, Chris Brown, out of Louisiana, he should be a pretty good one by the the time he sees the field. We grabbed at least one, maybe two JUCO Olinemen (thank god) and we signed a JUCO QB who has 3 years left to either back-up or push Bomar, depending which side of that debate youre on. We're also in on Jermaine Gresham, one of the top 2 or 3TE's in the country, though from what I hear, he's pretty soft and doesnt block, so he may end up being a big, slow wide receiver. I'm more excited about Gerald Mccoy, who is the No. 1 DT in the nation, and is out of OK. I know USC and LSU are really pushing on him hard, but I think he stays in state. That would be two consecutive years of getting the No. 1 DT in the nation. Having him and Granger lining up at DT for a few years would be borderline cheating. Also, we're in on Demarco Murray, who you guys probably know about. A RB in the mold of Reggie Bush, it's down to us and USC, though I'd put it at about 90% that he ends up a Trojan. I would love to see him in our backfield next year though. Wow, I just read that USC switched, and with all the RB's considering them (8, if I remember correctly, now that Goodsen decommitted from OSU), and they are recruiting Murray as a cornerback. If this is true, I have to think OU is the favorite for him.

  18. Ugh, the outfield has turned into a horrible multiple choice test where all the answers are wrong.
  19. don't know but would you have liked to trade cpatt and rusch two years ago for vasquez? yeah we would. let me get this straight we are an organization that hasn't won a title in 97 years and we are worried about being good over the long haul instead of going balls out to win a title(or in the sox case ANOTHER title) please i have had too many years of crap baseball, can we go ahead and try to win one. we can worry about 2 after we win the first one. also our wonderful prospects have done really well so far...good thing we hung onto patterson, guzman, mitre(until now),wellmeyer,brownlee,christensen.....and so on. we have developed z and drafted prior(we did not develop him).... Vazquez of two years ago isnt Vazquez of today.
  20. "huge trade imminent...maybe....dont hold me to it.....err....uhhhh.....nevermind"
  21. Would you guys be ok with trading Pie+Rusch for Vazquez? I dont think I would, and that's what this trade looks like to me.
