  1. exactly. if dude was in new york or boston or even st louis, the major networks wouldn't shut up about him. He has surpassed his cousin as a hitter and is easily out hitting him this year, yet if u asked someone at ESPN they would tell u how manny was for sure the better of the two. What?
  2. I would dig abreu. If Soriano is going to bat leadoff and Murton is going to be a sub (or traded), we might as well have a high obp guy in the two hole. We could move Theriot down to the 8 spot. Abreu could make a huge difference to this lineup, really.
  3. What in the hell is with this ump? Did he lose a bet and now he has to act like a [expletive] for the day or what?
  4. Marmol's slider is all over the place
  5. Just smoked it. Where is this power coming from? (just kidding, the pirates pitchers are terrible.)
  6. Soto tried to bless the Pirates with an out, and they messed it up.
  7. I can't wait till someone messes up his name
  8. It's hilarious, but at the end of the day, our GM is still Jim Hendry
  9. If I didn't have faith in my closer, that's probably the excuse I'd make up too.
  10. Sir Charles?! When I saw "entertainer" I thought someone like "the Rock". I'm saying Tom Brady and the Rock.
  11. the immortal chris spurling is out of the game, the time is NOW
  12. what in the world was the third base coach thinking
  13. Did this AGonz absorb the powers of the other AGonz when he retired?
  14. We're Cub fans, when does the worrying stop? We worry that we might miss the playoffs, then we make it in and we worry that we'll lose in the playoffs. Then it's the offseason and we worry that Hendry will sign a 31-year old to a $136 million dollar contract and then spring training starts and we worry that Mark Prior will get hurt and then the season starts and we worry that we're going to suck and then it's time for the ammy draft and we worry that we'll draft a toolsy outfielder that can't take a walk and then the season winds down and we worry again whether or not we'll make it to the playoffs.
  15. It's amazing that we are even debating whether a double is better than a home run. Man, has this thread gone to heII. Ken You know what's even better than the double? A single! Then we have two men on base still. And technically, we could move Quade over to second and pretend that the bases are loaded. Say that ARam comes up to bat, does he want to bat with no one on where he has to try to force out a homerun or does he want to bat with the BASES JUICED!!? Make Quade the second base coach, tell Ramirez that he's a base runner and BAM guaranteed win, it's science, ho.
  16. I can't believe this is an actual argument that actual people are having. My mind is boggled.
  17. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for trading me Carson Palmer. Well, Parker has been my best player. McNabb's not doing anything for me right now. This has been a weird year so far. Steven Jackson and, to a lesser extent LDT, have given us nothing through two weeks. I got nothing out of my RB1, WR2 and my starting defense last week. I was very lucky to pull out a win.
  18. I was just responding to a guy that said that you don't get to be at the position you are at if you're baseball illiterate. Those two are the definition of baseball illiterate, yet they win broadcasting awards while broadcasting thousands of games on cable tv.
  19. http://bryan-brown.com/sportsemmy05portraits/images/_DSC7393_lr.jpg http://www.spudart.org/blog/images/2006/hawk-harrelson-sox.jpg And these guys are award winners who broadcast major league games on tv, not just a AA radio guy. You want to think that post through again?
  20. When I was 13, the leadoff guy got on in the seventh and our coach gave me the sac bunt sign. I hadn't bunted all year, that I can remember, and the pitch was way outside, so out of habit I pulled the bat back. The guy on first got thrown out going for second. I ended up walking and getting picked off of first. Not my finest half inning.
  21. Obviously not, I would think. The question is, how valuable are the things that aren't quantifiable, and I think that they aren't very.
  22. I was going to ask you how in the hell you can possibly feel that way, then I saw the LSU sig.
  23. Yeah, take that you geeks. Boo yah, you just got faced.
