  1. Maybe wants to use Jackson as a PH instead of Denorfia later in the game? That's really all I've got. Denorfia sucks.
  2. I'm guessing that PTR got his wish that the Cubs open on the road this year to give a better chance that the renovations will be done before the season to avoid a bad PR scene like the opener last year.
  3. Actually, Mully and Hanley does extremely well in the ratings. They're something like 6th in all of Chicago on morning radio, and 2nd in sports/talk behind some spanish language network. http://www.robertfeder.com/2014/10/27/bears-talk-boosts-the-score-in-morning-ratings/ That's from last year, but give you an idea.... I don't care about ratings and those aren't surprising, they are the only local sports show on AM drive, anyone could get those ratings. Good ratings don't make them suck any less.
  4. Decent player, always seemed to make the most out of limited reps. Good reserve 4-3 DE.
  5. If there's ever a time to risk the kids college fund, this is it.
  6. Don't see this in the past couple of pages, but the bullpens are going to remain on the field for 2016, not under the bleachers like originally planned. They claim it's so they can focus the work on the bigger things they want to get done (clubhouse, etc..)--likely with the thought of a possibly extended playoff run taking up a prime month of their construction timeline (we can only hope), but maybe they are rethinking that idea and could leave the bullpens on the field?
  7. So, they're presumably paying Kaplan a LOT of money to do a 12-2 show? Or does he keep his other stuff on Comcast Sports Net (roundtable show and Cubs pre/post), which would, theoretically, mean that 1000 isn't paying him a ton. While I agree on Mike and Mike being questionable, I would bet that still beats or at least competes very well with Mully and Hanley (which, I agree, is an absolute joke) and M&M is the flagship ESPN Radio show and probably required to be carried by the network. The fact that Mully & Hanley is the best AM drive sports talk radio in the 3rd largest market in the country is an embarrassment. Glad I got XM radio for cheap.
  8. Went back to the 80s/90s font also. Like the Chicago 4 stars also. Not sure I dig the lighter wood, though it's hard to know about that until you see it on TV or in person.
  9. Remember when Maddon basically benched Rondon in favor of Jason Motte? Yeah, that really happened.
  10. And all the whiteys will blame Castro and Baez.
  11. THIS. I have 0 faith we will ever score a meaningful run on Chapman. Guess what. IT DON'T MATTER BEEYOTCH!!! Haha. It wasn't THAT long ago that they did. Wasn't that the game where some worthless guy with like 1 hit as a Cub got the game winner? That is it for about 5 years due to it's fluky awfulness. Dr. Doom remembers stuff like that.

  13. September call-ups are the dumbest thing in MLB with the possible exception of the blackout rules. Can you imagine any other sport coming up with this? "Oh, hey, it's only the most important damn month of the season, let's allow the teams to increase their rosters up to an additional 40% and virtually guaranteeing more pitching changes and pinch hitters/runners" So, so dumb. If they think it's SO important for people to get these extra at bats/opportunities, increase the rosters minimally throughout the season. Some of these September games are brutal, both when your team sucks and when they are good.
  14. Besides the pitchers (and, really, probably including the pitchers), that's just a list of trade bait, right? Not that some of these guys couldn't be very good MLB players, but I would think that the Cubs hope these guys have great AZL seasons to boost trade value.
  15. WINT, Oskee, ILL- -LOL
  16. Last I was aware it was still 2-3-2 Oh, nevermind, baseball still sucks. The World Series is a [expletive] joke. I hope the Cubs end that joke in game 4 this year 10/31/15 at Wrigley. AKA the day the World may come to an end.
  17. Game 6 will be in a National League park this year as the AL won the All Star Game. 2/2/1/1/1
  18. Between Strop's ridiculous double fist pump vs. the White Sox and that silly marching band/high step routine yesterday, he's probably my favorite "personality" on this team. And he pissed off Bob Costas, which earns him extra points.
  19. Completely agree. For an otherwise intelligent-sounding and courteous guy, he comes off like a real meathead on this. Just say "screens would help, but until MLB makes them a mandate, people need to make sure they're paying attention" instead of the victim blaming he's doing right now. It's strange.
  20. Remember when Matt Cain used to just destroy the Cubs every time out? That sucked. Let's make sure that's a thing of the past tonight.
  21. Thanks, don't know how I missed that MSU did a 'Celebrate the State' thing wherein they essentially signed 3-for-1s with all 3 MAC schools in the state. Naturally, Eastern Michigan has already canceled their home date for another payday game, probably because they know only 800 people would show up for that one anyway. Noble on MSU's part, I guess, but 1 loss in any of those games and they'll end that quickly. Eastern probably took more money for a guarantee game because they know it's going to be 99% MSU fans anyway, might as well take a bit more money.
  22. What the hell does Michigan State have to gain by playing @ Western Michigan?
