  1. Now don't get that thread started again. A few years back Tim was claiming that he had the biggest Johnson starting for his Northsiders. And I believe his Johnson was Randy. You know when you are having a miserable season when your opponent ignores your trash talk and proceeds to be your team by 100 points or so :( And your team is having a good scoring week, too. True. Bautista has been a decent midseason pick up. The big debate is whether or not this is just a career year or will he be just as good next year.

  3. Have we had any Boise fans post and give us first hand accounts? Over the years I have seen many a quality pitching prospect, but not much in the way of hitting. Colvin, ...??
  4. Thanks I wish I had the time to follow the prospects at this level like I used to. As I have learned in the past, statistics alone at the NWL level can be deceiving. So Szczur, Alcantara, Na and Kurcz are the ones to watch. Well better than some years, but not quite the prospect-laden team that I hoped for.
  5. This summer has been rather chaotic, so I haven't been able to follow the hawks like I normally do, Until today that is. I am looking at the offensive statistics and I am impressed. Szczur, Ramirez, LaPage, and Jones. Are these guys prospects or are they just playing at a level below their talent? Are there other offensive players I should keep an eye on? What about pitching prospects?

  7. At least you missed Greinke and Felix The key to having a good team seems to be pitching. More so than in the early years of this league IMHO. The problem is that pitching is more unpredictable than hitting. This is true. My offense this year is OK. But my starters have been injured and awful and yet at the beginning of the season I thought they would be good. Billingsley, Floyd, Jurrjens were all projected by CBS to score more than 600 points. Arg... But it does seem that the top teams have the top pitchers.

  9. I just want the process to be reasonably fair and make certain that everyone is on the same page. It would be relatively easy for me to drop my additions to my minors and pick up the prospects that I had before. But my sympathies are with NC.
  10. This is my understanding. But even if this correct, because some players thought otherwise this may be unfair. Has anyone else picked up any prospects?
  11. Reading through the posts, I think there is a possible source of confusion for me. I have picked up a few minor leaguers over the past few weeks and stuck them in the minors. I did so because Juan said at one point after the draft that everyone was available, but he wanted a prospect draft just to make sure that there was a fair selection of those players who were selected in the MLB june draft. Unfortunately the disscussion was lost when we had the fiasco during the draft. 1) Is that everyone's understanding? 2) If not, do I need to return my minor league selections and pick up the prospects I let go?
  12. Yeah and I got -22 from a RP. Looks like this week will be your first win. I bet you feel honored. ;) :D)
  13. Three starts and all of the for more than 20 points. Wow!

    Week 8

I had benched Votto because he had missed 8 straight games, but he is playing again. So now I have activated him.

    Week 8

How is it that my team has scored 1 point more than the Lynx, but the Quakers are 0-7 and the Lynx are 5-2?

:flame: Yah right :pig: I deserve some sort of compensation for this season.
  17. The pendulum has really swung as to how much the early round picks are being valued in the league. It's really hard to pry those first and second rounders away from people, even for the stars in the game. I agree. When Juan reduced the keeper point total then the value of draft picks went up.
  18. NSBB trades Dee Gordon and his third round pick in the 2011 draft for Adam Dunn. Thought I could get more for Adam, but it was the best offer that I had and with this latest loss...

Arg...lost by one point. 1st pick in the draft is still secure. :? What a season.

I could swear that Juan was talking about a draft right after the MLB free agent draft in June. I think he mentioned this when we had the prospect draft this winter.

How do we decide the order of June's free agent draft? Waiver order?
  22. Quakers

    Week 7

While it may jeopardize my number one draft pick, I would really like to win at least one game this season :beg: I still think that this team is much better than its record would indicate. But when every single start has hit the skids...ouch
  23. Number one draft pick baby :yahoo:

:rotfl: So if I have the number 1 pick and you have the number two pick, would you still trade up? Well, I will say this. Normally you do quite well, so seeing you have an off year makes me feel better. What bums me about this year, is that I truely thought that I had a decent team.

I wish I had such problems.
