  1. The only thing dumber than bringing Pierre back after a poor season like this one is if some team traded three prospects for him after 2005 despite their top positional prospect being a center fielder. Hold it...
  2. Hawkins' comments about nobody appreciating Patterson's hard work in returning from his injury is just pathetic. I remember Patterson receiving at least one standing ovation upon his return and he was showered with praise. Hawkins is still clueless. (See, Calling a Press Conference to Announce He Would Not Talk to the Press. See also, Blaming Umpire for Sucking During Childish Diatribe.)
  3. Those were cool. Thanks for sharing, Fred. Props to UM for holding his ground.
  4. I'm not a big Pedro fan. His overuse, coupled with over-emphasis, of the word "but" is legendary. Nevertheless, I hope he can pull through this. He is a character of the game.
  5. Sounds like the Cubs--trade a player while his value is at its lowest. Still, if Hendry could rely/argue in favor of his past performance, the Dodgers may be a good partner, as well as the Angels. At the very least, the Cubs could slide Nevin to 3B until the offseason.
  6. I continue to be somewhat shocked at how little Tejada is thought of 'round these parts.
  7. Raw and I were probably the most vocal proponents of landing Beltran. Of course, Hendry never got serious about Beltran. Its yet another example of his failure to look to the future and available players in future FA markets.
  8. The only thing that folds easier than this sign is your 2006 Cubs
  9. who cares? the fact is, he put up a 3.11 era and a k per inning out of kc's pen last year at the age of 22 and the cubs got NOTHING for him. i don't know how you can defend that. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=7470 Who cares what Sisco did LAST yr. This yr, he has been MISERABLE. He is a headcase, that will be nothing more then a average middle reliever. But hey...Sisco and Rauch can tryout for the Bulls, since they both have size. Neither can pitch effectively, but hey let's see what they can do on the basketball court. Fact is...Sisco is prolly not going to amount to much in MLB, and to think they could have gotten something reasonably for Sisco, is foolhardy. Fact is? LOL! Your speculation and short sighted dismissal of his previous year's effort is hardly fact.
  10. When Lee returns, Nev-in, Murton out...
  11. Wood is a wart on this team. I'm surprised he has lasted as long as he has in the face of Hendry's "Bad Attitude Purge". I guess its just because Wood has the big arm. But, look at Wood's BA credentials: -Led the anti-Mack Newton revolt amongst pitchers -Led the anti-Sosa revolt, allegedly taking a Louisville Slugger to the dreaded Sosa-Salsa-Box that was the cause of the 2004 collapse -One of the anti-Stone crew assisting in Stone's departure Maybe its Wood who should be the pariah, due both to his underachievement along with his attitude?
  12. Regarding the article that is the basis of this thread, just say no to Brenly (unless it is for the sole purpose of getting him out of the booth). Brenly isn't anything close to special as a manager.
  13. No, but thanks for offering.
  14. With Bynum, Pierre, Womack and Neifi on the roster, Dusty has exactly what he has been bitching for for a couple of years--speed. Its a tired observation, I know, but its one that only three people in existence don't comprehend is a failing formula by itself. Speed is nice, when not coupled with mediocrity by way of talent at the other four tools. The Cubs just suck. Say it aloud, its theraputic.
  15. Why, so Hendry gets the first pick in the draft and overdrafts some Boras represented pitcher coming off an injury?
  16. While not slurring, Sutcliffe's comments suggest he was drunk in a broadcast booth for the second time in recent weeks...
  17. Prepare yourselves for the "low risk, high reward" false justification.
  18. Man, is this a non-story. I can't believe that McDonough was on the broadcast just to pimp freaking cell phones. I can't wait until the first visiting bullpen coach forgets to unhook his phone from his belt and takes it with him. Wrigley will probably have to shut down. Next thing you know, MacPhail will be hailing the introduction of buttered popcorn. I can't stand the clowns running this organization.
  19. By "it", I was hoping the title to this thread was referencing Dusty...
  20. Were Rusch DFA'd, he'd just get picked up by the Pirates and throw 2 or 3 shutouts against the Cubs the rest of the season.
  21. Didn't Hendry say something like we would need new sod to cut the grass or it would die if it was too low just a couple days ago? That crafty management.
  22. Send Pierre to the Cards if Edmonds goes on the DL and stick Womack/Pie in center.
  23. You are so wrong on this point alone, that it is not worth discussing this with you.
