  1. I think part of the issue is age. McCarthy may be a better pitcher then any of those three anyway. Buehrle was awful this year and Vasquez pitched for the Yankees in 2004 and wasn't great.

    WOW

First 3 quarters where the most terrible football I think I've ever watched. The 4th on the other hand! OH MAN! What an effort on defense and special teams. Lots of luck, but I'll take it!
  3. I'd do Dempster for Hughes straight up!
  4. Why would the Yanks want Izturis? They have Cano and some guy named Jeter up the middle. I'm sure Cesar could play 3B. Just a thought, though. I doubt they'd bite. Cashman isn't dumb; he's just forced into dumb decisions by the Tampa Cabal. I'd probably see if they'd do Prior and Eyre. Pie is my deal-closer. I'd give them Moore, too. Also, keep in mind if we take back Pavano or Wright, our player cost likely decreases. Izturis would be a utility guy for the Yanks. The problem with trading w/ the Yanks and for ARod is: 1. The Yanks are stacked. They don't need prospects (they don't keep them, or very rarely do) They're outfield is packed full. The infield is basically set. They have a catcher. You have to trade them pitching. It's really their only weakness. 2. ARod is obviously going to demand talent, but how much? If I was Hendry and wanted to dangle prospects out at the Yankees, it would be Guzman, Marshall, or Hill. ML ready pitchers that will keep the Yanks in the game. With their offense any of those 3 guys would probably win 15 games. I would offer a package of: Prior, Guzman/Hill, and Moore. 2 ML ready pitchers and a 3B.
  5. George swears the Yankee's early exit was due to pitching depth. With a combination of Hill/Guzman/Eyre it may be enough. I don't see the Yankees wanting Pie. They have Matsui, Damon, Melky, Bernie (maybe), and Sheffield (FA - probably won't be back.) Where would they play Pie? It doesn't add up IMO. Keep in mind also...................... we're talking about the Yankees #8 hitter!!!! He hasn't done well at all with the Yankees. To a certain extent, the Yankees would be trading him at his low level as well. It's not going to take all of the Cubs top prospects to get him.
  6. Most people just go with a pink flamingo. :D
  7. LOL! No, it's actually the "Twister House." It's the house that was used in the finale of Twiser the movie. I didn't really buy it for that reason. It was more that about it being a Victorian on acreage, but the movie's a conversation piece.
  8. Yeah, I don't know who that is!
  9. My wife and I just bought our "dream" house in September. It's not such a dream right now, but it will be beautiful when we get done! Some of you guys may have seen it before: http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h230/cbbryan1/twister3.jpg
  10. I only went to one game this year.............. a Cub victory over the Cards! Can anyone say GO BEARS! What a game tonight against Seattle albeit w/out Alexander.
  11. WTG, Raw! Congrats, man!

  13. Welcome! Welcome!
  14. Now, if we do trades for players that have CLEARED waivers we don't have to keep them..........correct? My understanding of the rules is that you only have to keep a player for next year if you claim them and work a trade. Am I correct in this?
  15. Don't forget that I've got the Pick'em championship all wrapped up as well!!!!! 8)
  16. Just arrived back in Iowa this evening. I started my vacation on the 18th. I bought 1st row tickets for the Cubs/Cards game on the 19th. What a game! It was my youngest son's first game. We were right behind the Cub dugout in row 1. Neifi threw my son his batting gloves! (He was traded the next day! LOL!) And my son also got the Pujols drive to CF that Pierre caught in the ivy. Pierre caught the ball, threw it to Murton, Murton threw it to me, I gave it to my son!!!!! We had a blast!
  17. I voted for the Who because I can't vote for: http://www.ratm.net/photos/group/group17.jpg Because it's Queens fault I can't vote for RATM!!!!!

  19. I think that package may do it..and there is a big difference in Prior and Guzman. They both have the injury history-if healthy, Guzman may dominate on the major league level, while Prior when healthy has dominated on the major league level. It's only a big difference IF Prior can come back and continue to dominate. That hasn't happened this year. He has a knack for freak injuries and since '03 hasn't been the same. What's more certain............. Prior returns to '03 form, or continues to be injury prone? Listen, I really like Prior and hope he comes back to form, but I don't understand the thought process here. If the Cubs package MLB experienced talent w/ high ceiling talent and include more quanity.............there maybe a chance. I think w/ Atlanta's success in developing some of the Cubs prospects high ceiling prospects MAY hold more value to them. I could be wrong, but I think it's at least a possibility.
  20. Maybe that exact package won't get it done, but I find it quite funny that one can can bring up packages with Prior being the centerpiece of a trade, but Guzman is an IF. Outside of '03 how are they that much different. Sure Prior has more upside, more potential................... who cares! He can't stay healthy and he has as many ifs as Guzman. It also depends on who's cleared waivers for the Cubs. What about Pierre? What about Murton? My thoughts with Theriot is that the Cubs have WAY too many 2B slotted players. Theriot, IMO, can be a starter in this league. The future there seems to be with EPat. Maybe the package looks more like Pierre, Hill, Marshall, and Theriot. I don't think you HAVE to include Pie.
  21. That might be enough to get Hollandsworth back. Maybe Jaime Navarro. Oh, I forgot...........when posting a trade I should overvalue whoever the Cubs are trading for and undervalue the Cubs prospects......... my bad! Jerome Williams is a 24 year old that has MLB experience and decent stuff. Angel Guzman is a 24 year old that has MLB experience and GREAT stuff. Theriot is a good player. He's also young and cheap. Berg is a 22 year old with decent upside. Atlanta develops their prospects as well. What do some of you guys/gals think it will take? I can't wait for the Prior/Pie/Guzman/Brownlie/Petrick/Veal.........etc.
  22. I would do a package of J. Williams, Guzman, Theriot, and someone like Justin Berg.
  23. I would love the Cubs to have been the team that claimed Jones. It would just be a matter of making a trade happen. Surely the Cubs have enough talent to make that happen.
  24. So would I. Knowing that....what would it take to get Elijah to the Cubs org? Cubs are a family organization. Absolutely no way this happens. Ever. The Cubs drafted Ben Christiansen and considered bringing in Milton Bradley so I'm not sure they're all that "family" oriented. Not to argue, but I'm fairly sure the #1 reason why we ended up not signing Bradley was due to the off-the-field problems. Sad truth is the Cubs care about ticket sales over anything else. It would have been a trade. The Dodgers made the correct move anyhow considering they got Andre Eithier for him. Sorry, trade. I don't know if anyone knew Ethier would be the player he has been this year though. I know he was a good prospect, but who knows what the Cubs offered? I think their was a VERY good possibility of Ethier being very good. He was considered a great hitter, he always put up great numbers in the minors. He wasn't hyped like Delmon Young, or Upton, Hamel, etc. But the numbers were there.
