  1. Um, riiiiight! lolZ! Then why did have so many wins?
  2. Or, you are wrong. Yeah because the dodgers, angels, dbacks, rays, yanks, redsox, etc are all just pining for a SS and there are about 84 3B on the market. Its just the cubs and the cards who need SS and to a lesser extent the astros. No, they don't have to trade Tejada now, but the team is taking a different direction, and his value may not be higher. Excluding Hill does not necessarily mean that the offer would just be made up of prospects, there are a couple other guys on the team that Hendry hasn't given NTCs to. Based on MacPhail's quotes, I think Marmol could be the centerpiece, not Hill. This is an interesting read. i can think of five teams off the top of my head who would be interested in acquiring tejada - all of which have better young talent than the cubs if we exclude hill. But that doesn't mean they'd be willing to give up better talent than the Cubs.
  3. I didn't even know Monroe was still connected to the team in any way. The things our brains will let us forget when we want to forget them.
  4. That lineup doesn't get us to the playoffs, especially considering the probable regression of our SP. Not much pop, and not a great OBP. I don't think we'll have much, if any, of a regression at SP. I'd imagine Zambrano will have a better year, Hill and Lilly probably about the same, hopefully close to the same from Marquis (or hopefully he's gone). So if one of Prior, Gallagher, Hart, Marshall, Marmol can provide a decent 5, I think we might actually improve.
  5. Jones' 5M pisses you off that much? I would rather sit Jones on the bench and pay the 5M then drag Infante into your already overcrowded infield. If they wanted Infante, why not have kept Izturis? I agree that this is bad news for Cedeno. Maybe Cedeno slept with Sandberg's wife, that is why he must go!?! It doesn't piss me off at all, but if we have 8M to spend this offseason (which is what we've speculated) and for example, Tejada costs 13M, I have no problem getting rid of Jones to allow us the financial flexibility to improve significantly. Also, Infante costs nothing and will be a backup. Izturis cost 5M. Infante made 1.3m last season, so if we just swapped contracts we would only net 3.7m. I don't know if that would be worth having Infante waste a roster spot. I seriously think the best move would be to make the trade and then promptly release Infante or see if any team is stupid enough to give us a prospect for him.
  6. Wow, Infante really sucks. Maybe if they pay all of Jones' salary and we just release Infante, it might be alright.
  7. When Boston is paying a 12-14m SS over 20m a year, then we might be able to shift that nickname from NYY to Boston. I thought it already had shifted. Started after they overpaid the posting fee for Dice-K. The Yankees payroll was still 46m more than the Red Sox and 74m more than the 3rd biggest payroll.
  8. At least you guys aren't in as bad a position as the Pacers. Man, that team is so freaking screwed for many years to come. I think they're the definition of NBA limbo, except they have a shot at being bad enough to get a good pick.
  9. I would only go after him if we could then get something good for Pie. Isn't Crawford exactly what Pie is suppose to be, only not as good defensively? Since Crawford is somewhat proven, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get him if we can get a good pitcher for Pie. Trade Hill for Crawford, then send Pie, Cedeno, Gallagher, Veal, Marshall to Baltimore for Bedard and Tejada. Zambrano Bedard Lilly Marmol/Hart Marquis/Prior DeRosa -2B Crawford -CF Lee -1B Ramirez -3B Soriano -RF Tejada -SS Soto -C Murton -LF
  10. Lot of time left for Peyton. lot of verbal fellatio left for peyton too Peyton gets a lot of asskissing, but no where near as much as ESPN gives brady WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT MANNING? that's because brady has 3 titles and is having a better year. Thats true, but it really annoys me how much credit he gets for those titles. According to the logic of most people at ESPN Trent Dilfer was a better QB than Dan Marino.
  11. agreed. if they want anything to do with barry, they shouldn't voluntarily display stuff mocking him. Its a piece of baseball history. Its not the HOF's fault the ball was branded.
  12. I doubt that qualifies as "big news." who said "big"? she did
  13. I think the Colts win it. The Patriots are a very very very good team. But if you watch the games you notice things like Manning sitting out the entire 4th quarter and Tom Brady continuing to throw TD's well into the 4th quarter. I don't think the Patriots are nearly as good as their scores would indicate. I hope by some miracle the Colts are able to run the score up on them.
  14. If Hunter cost less than 5m and was willing to platoon with Jones or Pie in CF, I'd love to have him....but neither of those things would happen, so no thanks.
  15. I'll put a billion Stanly nickels on him going to the Red Sox. I have 1000 Shrute bucks that say otherwise. ...whats the ratio of Shrute bucks to Stanly nickels?
  16. I'll put a billion Stanly nickels on him going to the Red Sox.
  17. That'd be hot. Can we also trade for Tejada and Bedard while we're at it? Alright I know you were kidding, but I just got really really happy just thinking about that.... Soriano LF DeRosa 2B Lee 1B ARod 3B Tejada SS Kemp RF Soto C Pie CF Z Bedard Lilly Billingsley Prior I think I would be pretty comfortable not having a minor league system if we trotted that team out in 2008. And NSBB could organize a fundraiser to help alleviate the extra costs, although I'm sure it wouldn't be too much of an issue for Owner Mark Cuban (I'm still in fantasy mood) Alright done with the dream, but that just made my night... We should trade Pie for Manny and have an outfield of Manny/Kemp/Sori Kemp Lee ARod Manny Soriano Tejada DeRosa Soto
  18. Holy crap, if the Patriots win the Super Bowl I may have to watch football with the sound off for the rest of my life cause we'll never hear the end of how awesome they are.
  19. I like the Red Sox alright, but I really can't stand that guy. The intense dislike starting in the NLCS when he almost hit Sammy in the head and then tried to act like a B-A....I really wanted Sammy to rip him apart.
  20. If Boston got ARod, maybe they would finally move Ramirez....I wouldn't mind taking him off their hands for a reasonable price.
  21. +1 Unless they wanted to trade him for someone like Eyre straight up and we could have him on the roster instead of Pagan.
  22. Nitpick, but Bedard would easily be at least our #2....He might be better than Zambrano. Z, Bedard Lilly Hill and a miraculous return by Prior Holy crap.
  23. I was hoping Atlanta might take Marshall, Cedeno and another pitching prospect. Don't know if that would fly for the Braves. I'd like for the Cubs to keep Theriot as a utility guy. Who else is in the market to upgrade at SS this offseason? Cards? Astros? White Sox? Giants? Nats? Reds? Blue Jays? A's? Twins? How do you upgrade from perfection?
