  1. This from the article :? :?: A-rod opted out of his contract so how exactly is he still property of the Yanks
  2. Boston is a real likelihood, IMO. They'd be like a video game team. I don't think the BoSox will be players in the A-rod sweepstakes. They have Lowell who plays well in Fenway, performs well during the regular and postseason and complements the team well, and not to mention he is a much cheaper alternative than A-rod.Besides I wonder how Boston feels about A-rod making his big announcement on the day they're gonna clinch the WS
  3. Well I gave it 50/50 that he'd opt-out. IMO he probably grew weary of being the scapegoat for all that is/was wrong with the Yanks.
  4. DENVER -- Alex Rodriguez notified the Yankees Sunday that he's opting out of his record $252 million contract, SI.com has learned. Rodriguez's decision means he will become a free agent and be able to negotiate with all clubs. Rodriguez's bombshell move will shake up the entire winter for the Yankees -- who had hoped to retain him with a big extension -- as well as other big-market clubs that will now pursue him. Rodriguez's agent Scott Boras said he sent word of the opt-out in writing Sunday and left phone and text messages for Yankees general manager Brian Cashman. The Yankees have said that once A-Rod opts out, they wil not pursue him, since they will lose the benefit of the Texas Rangers' $30-million subsidy. "Alex made the decision today,'' Boras said. "I thought we should notify the club.'' The Yankees were preparing an extension to his current contract for either five or six years, believed to be for close to $30 million annually. However, team officials said Boras has politely declined to meet with them in recent days, and they never presented the offer. Rodriguez technically had until 10 days after the World Series ended to exercise his opt-out rights, which were provided in his $252 million Texas deal. However, Boras said Rodriguez felt there was no way he could make a decision to stay in that short a period of time since several situations remain unsettled, including those of Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada and Andy Pettitte. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/baseball/mlb/specials/playoffs/2007/10/28/rodriguez.contract/index.html
  5. Boras thinks FA is the way to go
  6. I say 0 players will leave b/c of Torre. As long as the Yanks pay these players a nice amount they don't care whose managing and besides the next mangager will probably be someone already in the organization or close to it.
  7. Hard to say and he hit a HR in tonights game bringing his 2007 postseason batting avg. to .286. :o Anyway I say it's between the Angels and the Yanks
  8. Cashman had more to with that than Torre. Not surprised his job is on the line again though, if they get swept it would make it the 2nd year in a row they were outed in the first round.
  9. I really don't see A-rod sticking it out in NY if he doesn't turn his current postseason around (and if the fans resort to booing him). A-rod knows that if he sticks it out in NY(and doesn't win a WS) , he will be known as the guy who only got it done in the regular season and not when it mattered. If he goes to another team no one will really care what he does in the postseason, especially if he breaks the all-time HR record. Also, while $30M maybe the numbers Boras & Co. are spitting to the media, it is not a guranteed thing.
