  1. Appy State is one hell of a team, but there's no excuse for a top 5 team to be losing at home to a I-AA team, no matter what. That being said, go Appy! Michigan seems to do this a lot in their opener.
  2. There's a difference between your two pitches being fastball-change or fastball-curve, and your two pitches being fastball-slider. Exactly. Marmol has the potential to be one of the best closers in the game, why take away from that. Would the Red Sox be a better team with Papelbon being a starter?
  3. A few years ago, Larry Walker, Cliff Floyd, Pedro Martinez, Moises Alou, and Randy Johnson would have made them pretty good. And they would currently have Grady Sizemore. Also Vlad and Brandon Phillips. The more I thought about it they wouldnt be as good as I thought. Pedro would be a Dodger with these hypothetical terms. It would be kind of fun coming up with what everyone would look like. I predict the Cubs would have the worse offensive team. The Cards would not be good either. Pujlos and Duncan, but I think thats it.
  4. He was going for a foul ball, couldn't get it and then fell over the plexiglass ball shield in front of the seats at that level. Probably bruised/pulled something in his midsection. Think he knocked the wind out, and gonna have 1 long line bruise.
  5. That was a long inning, or at least felt like it with the Cubs batting.
  6. No Dontrell? I think this list is probably missing a lot of people.
  7. I'm not sure what you mean by that. He has been a full blown professional for about 15 years meaning that his income is entirely derived from playing poker. He only plays about 8-10 tournaments a year though so he isn't playing every weekend. He is in the money probably in half of those tournaments so he is doing pretty well. Oh I never knew that. Damn for 8-10 tourney's he has a pretty high percentage of making final tables.
  8. Is he a full blown professional now?
  9. Neither funny, nor very accurate. disagree and disagree Agree. With truffle. That is, I think it was funny, and accurate. So Wisconsin = Texas A&M
  10. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070828&content_id=2175744&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc My guess on the six to be called up: Soto Fox Cedeno Gallagher Ohman Pignatiello (is he eligible after being just sent down?) They have a few other bullpen options (Petrick, Rapada, Cherry, Cotts) so it could be interesting to see who winds up getting the call. I think Semptember roster expansions is one of the loopholes.
  11. beat you, without the pic though ;-)
  12. I don't really get statements like that, but whatever. For me, he's a player that hard to NOT root for. From all accounts, he's a great guy off the field, arrives to the ballpark earlier than most, and you see a smile on his face during games more than any other Cub. I don't get how he's not easy to root for. He pisses me off a lot when he swings at junk two feet off the plate, but I like Jacque. What he said............... =D> DYNOMITE!!!
  13. Expect much much longer the next couple of weeks ;-).
  14. i'm guessing it's gonna be harder to score tickets to next week's game hotels are so full that people are renting rooms in their houses for $1500+ for the Notre Dame weekend Notre Dame needs to get embarrassed early and often.
  15. That's going to be disappointing for you. First team to 40 wins. Then it will be the Illini. Their defense will be decent to good. You're forgetting that Chase Daniel is apparently winning like 7 heismans this year. He is the long lost son of Ron Pawlus.
  16. Re: the bolded part. Msg: Thanks, Sunil. DIAF. Thats almost depressing considering he should be coaching the US. This is something that is worthy of firing the President inorder to get him signed.
  17. Goodbye Ole Gunnar. As much as I hated United I always like Solskjaer, and injuries wrecked what could have been an even better carrer. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=457639&cc=5901 Also in sad news the Sevilla midfielder Antonio Puerta who suffered a heartattack on the pitch over the weekend has passed away at the age of 22.
  18. I am curious to see what he can hit on the radar gun at the end of this season.
  19. I don't think that Hendry has had the ability to go after the Top FA before this year. Sure he made offers but was really never close to what it was going to take before Soriano. I think he is about a 50/50 chance to remain with the team. If Cuban gets the team, I think Hendry might not last.
  20. Yes, assuming he doesn't have outrageous demands which I doubt he will. We don't need him to close or even be the primary setup man. Like you said the upside is huge.
  21. My guess is Murton since it will only be for a couple of days and the plethra of OF we have.
  22. Couldn't the state have filed charges against Myers even the the Wife didn't want simply because of the number of people that witnessed it.
  23. However, I think having Prior back (in 2003 form) by July of next year is a more realistic expectation. I thinks an unrealistic expectation is to have Mark Prior back in 2003 form at any point ever again. Until he signs with the Cards
