  1. Pretty much. I couldn't fall asleep last night from all the noise outside. This weekend is just insane. As much as I like making fun of the place it's a great place to go for a game. This game is a swing game for ND and Penn State, if PSU takes it they ae on their way to solidifying their season and knocking ND out of any BCS contention while ND needs this win badly to stay in the BCS hunt with USC still looming in their schedule. Don't worry about ND and BCS contention. ND will be lucky to get to a bowl game at all. ND just has to find a way to win 3-4 of their first 8. If it's this game, that's great (although I doubt it). Mostly, just get Claussen some experience and hopefully they can win games like Purdue and Michigan State, which both will be hard games but they are more winnable than at Penn State this year. I hope they don't win 6 games or more because they steal a bowl from a Big East team if they do. I can't wait for that contract to be over. How's Greg Robinson working out for you up their? I don't like his coaching ability what so ever. I don't think he adjusts well, actually I think he's horrible at making adjustments and he better start recruiting better to hide his lack of coaching. I really think he's overwhelmed and the next hire better have experience as a head coach. This, he's the next USC coach thing just doesn't fly. I want results. He's a great defensive cord., but I was never sure about head coach. He just doesn't have the look that the elite have, and I am not really sure about his recruiting abilities.
  2. Marshall taking the easy points instead of taking a few shots at the endzone. If your a big underdog at home I think you have to be a little more aggresive than that. You got a #3 team on the ropes, and one that could score a lot of points very fast. I know nothing on Marshall's defense, but he must have some confidence in them.

  4. I'm worried about TCU tonight, hopefully last week was the wakeup call and got Texas the whipping they needed in practice this week.
  5. He failed when he chose ND.
  6. I know those options are out there but I just dont see us able to add enough payroll to go out and sign those kind of players after this past offseason. As far as Crawford is concerned, what kind of package would you ask for is you were TB? I dont reallysee a package the Cubs could afford to give to land that caliber of player without creating holes elsewhere. Maybe we could land ARod assuming him and the Yanks part ways. But does that alone secure us a playoff spot? Because that size of contract would probably handcuff any moves we can make in the next 3-5 years. How many 100 mil contract players can one team afford?? Would the 2007 Cubs + ARod be enough in 08? I probably should have mentioned I was dreaming. We'd have to mortgage the future in order to acquire those guys. WTF, screw the future if you get those guys who cares. Also we really don't need Rivera, Marmol is already better.
  7. I wouldn't underestimate the value of getting Adu, Szetela and Altidore experience at the senior level. I knew about the injury, but I disagree with Ives on his whole "Jozy doesn't need to be the savior" thing. I think he's looking at it as a fan of RBNY, really. The fact of the matter is, he's going to be our best striker the day he's named to a senior side roster. Why not use him as a sub in these games to get his feet wet ahead of quialifying? Playing 20 min per game in friendlies with the senior side isn't exactly annoiting him as "savior". As it is, unless Clint plays up top all the time until Jozy gets here (probably our best option), we're stuck with EJ, who technically plays "forward", but really plays the position of "liability". Ching, who I've never liked, and Donovan, who isn't a striker on any planet. THe 1.5 years between the World Cup and WCQ's are like Septembers for crappy baseball teams. Rather than capping the likes of Wolff, Zavagnin, Mastroeni, Arnaud and others, you need to allow your young talent a chance to get it's feet wet in games that don't have the pressure that WCQ's do. And then there's the issue of cap-tying guys like Adu and Altidore. Jozy won't ever play for Haiti as long as the USSF exists, but there is a very, very real chance that Freddy Adu will play for Ghana. If you think of the kind of personality Adu has, he's very impatient, thinks quite highly of himself, and if he feels that for whatever reason USSF isn't giving him a shot, he could go play for the Black Stars (this ignores whether or not the Canada friendly from 2006 cap-tied him). This is what I hate. It just seems like a total waste of time and a friendly. They are not preparing for any competition over the next couple of weeks, so now is the time to experiment and really get the youth some time. We have nothing to lose except for a meaningless game. I feel like I'm bitching about the Cubs not playing the kids.
  8. It may have to. 28-21 Louisville at the end of the first quarter. Far as I can tell, neither team has punted. 541 yards of total offense - in one quarter. 31-28 now with 11 minutes to go in the half. Not sure either team can spell defense.
  9. Ok the injury changes things. He doesn't have to play. Hell, he doesn't have to even be on the roster to make me happy. Just put someone other than Davy Arnaud, Kerry Zavagnin or Wolff on there. It's not just Altidore for Brazil. It's the lack of Adu, Szetela or Altidore on the Sweden game roster and now this one. If at least one of the three aren't included in Switzerland, I'll be mad. Mexico is giving Dos Santos his first senior side cap against Brazil next wednesday. They are calling him the model for which they want to develop their young players. We should be doing the same thing. Two of them are already in Europe so it isn't much of a travel. We need to position them into qualifying, and right now is the best time to experience any growing pains.
  10. Locking them into the United States National Team. Adu could potentially still choose Ghana over the US, although maybe about a 1% chance of that happening. Same case for Altidore. Also just seems a little pointless in wasting time and caps with guys like Josh Wolff who have little to no real future with the US, especially come time for 2010.
  11. A reason as to why this couldn't go in the game thread. no one reads the gamethread after the game ends. All the more reason for this to go there. I don't want to read it just like I won't watch the highlights since I missed the game. It probably should be moved to the Rant page :x
  12. Dempster is garbage..its time we got a real closer. we already have one!!!
  13. I wonder how much it would cost to pry Tony Gwynn away from his perfect job at San Diego State. Then bring in Maddux as our pitching coach next year and we would have the smartest bench in baseball
  14. I'm not ashamed. I always thought he was a very good ballplayer with a very good bat and I always liked him as a ballplayer. He is more like that redneck friend of yours who is a whole lot of fun to hangout with when your drinking, however when your sober he gets annoying pretty fast.
  15. You can't be overrated if everyone already agrees that you are overrrated. Don't tell Ned Colletti. Or Jim Hendry. I was going to add that 28 GM's would even agree ;-). Luckily Hendry learned from the 1 year mistake.
  16. You can't be overrated if everyone already agrees that you are overrrated.
  17. On the bright side this team seems to do better against some of the better pitchers in baseball and really suck against the crap. In the playoffs we won't see as much crap.
  18. Carlos Bocanegra needs to stay away from Wrigley. He's a disaster wherever he goes. I wish I were there to yell at Donovan. Cub fans need to boo Donovan and Bocanegra!!!
  19. Similar to Kirk Gibson in my book. Yes Walkers numbers are better but he played in a extreme hitters park in an extreme hitters era. I think Gibson was on his way to being a baseball afterthought until his HR in the WS against Eck. Injuries seemed to have had really destroyed him. Seemed to be a great athlete. Wonder what kind of football player he would have been. Probably would have only lasted a couple of seasons.
  20. hmm, I hope he doesn't have that same Corey P type attitude.
  21. Mike Greenwell
  22. A taste of the playoffs might give the new owner even more hunger and do everything to get Arod.
  23. The Man http://g-ec2.images-amazon.com/images/I/41E7RHG9ZYL._AA240_.jpg The Legend http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b85/xtwpyro07/George_Carlin.jpg Ted Demmy directed Lock 'n Load for Leary, figured that would win some points on this board.
  24. what a bad day to have to work. Good to see ND lose, but damn 33-3 is great :-).
  25. Shunning Roma and Newcastle in the process. I guess he likes the spanish style of play. I believe Santander drew against Barca 0-0 last week fwiw. It's good for him. he'll get an immediate opportunity to at least make the bench, i think. Wow he was drawing some nice intrest though. Newcastle might have been a decent fit for him. Racing will probably give him the most PT though which is of the most interest.
