  1. I love it when I can get the Cubs in HD. I believe the Cubs have done very well this year on ESPN too.
  2. In all of baseball have a winning record on the road.

    Golf

Bought this today for $49.99 at Golf Galaxy. Slightly used, I can't even tell. http://www.joessports.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2209412
  4. Just Kidding!
  5. England haven't had the World Cup since 1966, and have even gone to the trouble of coaxing the Trinidad vote. I want to see Bolivia vs. Saudi Arabia in my hometown! I've got a potential project with Wayne Bridge in the works right now. Hopefully if he plays well this weekend, and we win the deal I can suckup enough for an autographed jersey out of the deal.
  6. Spain will win 5-0 if they play the same roster they did vs England. Torres and Cesc together is going to be brutal.
  7. I really have no desire to see Marmol move to the rotation any time soon, not that it will happen anyways. He is the most valuable relief pitcher in baseball right now.
  8. Saying this is almost as bad as counting outs ;-)
  9. unreal i turned off gamecast at 9-0, now this
  10. Lofton hit .296 last year with a .367 OBP. I'm fine with Lofton for a couple of months.
  11. Cubs are also 0-6 in their last 6 playoff games.
  12. Stupid Edit, I came back to look again just to help get through the long work day ;-)
  13. Even our forfeit lineup look pretty good. Theres nothing wrong with Ramirez is there? He's 0-10 against the starter, so it's a nice day to give him a break. Except that past performance in 10 at-bats has absolutely no predictive value. I used to give the benefit of the doubt to managers who made lineup decisions based on past batter-pitcher performance (Brenly goes crazy over those stats), but the research of Lichtman/Tango/Dolphin pretty much squashes the idea that certain pitchers own certain hitters and vice versa. I think it has to hold some value in certain situations. Whether it be a tought LH against a fellow lefty which is not as common as the R/R matchup. Obviously 0-10 is a very small sample size, but I don't think you can completely disregard it in other instances. Some guys, for whatever reason, hit well against certain pitchers. Hasn't Piniella been talking about trying to give players a day off? I remember him saying Lee didn't want one.
  14. Can't you just make a call? I tried, but they quickly realized that I was of no importance what so ever.
  15. If David Price would hurry up an come up I could help you out a little sooner.
  16. I would really like to see Dallas Baptist make a solid run. They have had a great season, and rewarded a #2 seed in their region.

nice photo jax - 1978 - or is it 1974? I believe its the 78 final. Getting ready for Euro's to start. Quite the hair on Kempes there - why is he just standing watching I wonder? Between his hair and the look on his face, the look is priceless.

I think we have forgotten about maybe the most important part. Where to decide to play
  19. If they make it through group play, they will be very well primed to make a run. But yeah its brutal, they could go anywhere from 0-3 to 3-0 if they don't show up.
  20. I don't have a problem with what he said, if he stated to press he might actually suck more than he already does. He simply doesn't seem to have anything left. It was funny listening to Sutcliff say that about 20 times Tuesday night.
  21. If Theriot was still producing by the time the deadline comes around, I'd be in favor of considering such a move. But, his numbers have begun to decline of late, and this offense may not be able to withstand the same non-existent production they got from CF and SS last season, especially if Soto falls back at all. Plus, you will have traded the guy in the organization most capable of filling the SS spot for 2009, while acquiring a late 30's pitcher who will be a free agent, and who hasn't been all that special either. I'd rather see if they'd have interest in Murton or some other position player who is redundent to the Cubs, like Patterson. I would agree. Trading Cedeno doesn't seem like a very good idea. He's a quality backup who has a pretty good amount of at-bats off the bench, and then you add in the fact that he still has a good shot to become a starter in the next year and a half. I don't think the Dodgers would want him anyway though, considering they have both Furcal and Hu. The Dodgers have a ton of young players, they can picky in choosing who they want.
