  1. You're kidding, right? You're complaining that ESPN went away from a Cubs game in May to show a potential no-hitter, and by a 24 year old cancer survivor, no less? ESPN broke away from a game that was just like every other game this day to show history, and you're actually downplaying it? (Cue the Sabersheep jumping in to point out that a no-hitter is meaningless...) Did you miss the part where I said I can understand it. I know why they did it. A majority of watchers would rather see a no-hitter get finished then a Cubs-Houston game but that still doesn't mean I get be pissed about it. ESPN would have broken away from a Yankee-Red Sox game for a potential Cubs no-hitter. So out of around 1 of every 5,000 starts someone throws a no-hitter. I would think that it a much bigger deal than you are letting on to.
  2. I think so. But he could still be traded, I'd guess, unless he got a no-trade clause. I'd look to trade him if I could get a young 1B, C or SS (if Brignac doesn't pan out). When a young guy with some arby years left (he does have some, correct?) do they really get a no trade along with it? They won't matter since he would be giving up his right to arbi to sign the extension. I could see it. Sort of as a good faith in the since that he is doing them a favor to sign now, and he may want to stick around being they are on the cusp of being very good and a new park.
  3. Really doesn't matter as you have to bid for the rights to talk to him with his current team, not to mention all the bids are blind. That bid alone is going to be $60 Million+ and doesn't include his contract which will be huge. I understand that but all Fukudome has to do is pick up the phone and give him a call. Players are always encouraging other players to join their team. Yes, but again, it doesn't matter. Darvish wouldn't control the team that gets his rights, it's a blind auction. If the Cubs manage to win the auction then yes. The only thing useful Fukudome do now is talk to potential owners about ponying up the $70 million posting fee to have the rights to negotiate a contract with him. Actually we might be better off filling Cuban's blog with emails about this guy and how he is the next Dirk of baseball or something of that nature.

    Week 8

If I can avoid almost -40 points on two starts this week that will be nice. Derrek Lee needs a slumpbuster in the worst possible way.

better limit yourself to position players because I think we've had a no-hitter and maybe even a perfect game. Thats what I was going to say. I know I have seen a no-hitter and the automatic 50 points posted.
  6. I set my DVR for an extra 45 minutes in hopes of extra time. United has already played in one of the greatest finals ever, hopefully they have another one ready to go.
  7. Which actually makes for Soriano hitting at the top of the order to make sense right now.
  8. The first 3 games the Stars looked nothing like they did vs San Jose, they were slow and weak in general. They are starting too look like they got it again, I dont know if its out of desperation or what it is but they are more than capable of winning two more in a row. Will it happen, its not likely but at least we now have a series with a pretty hot Turco. For what its worth I absolutely hate Detroit.
  9. I think I would bat Marquis 8th and Johnson 9th.
  10. Why is anyone encouraging him to post more?
  11. Regardless it was Santana, they should have gotten them both if they wanted them.
  12. Article on MLS turning down $8,000,000 transfer for Jozy from Reading. Its funny that his transfer fee is going to be affected by the crappy dollar. Congrats to Portsmouth today too. Great win for them winning a major trophy.
  13. I would say Grace had a much better idea. Although right now I would not object to Lee trying this out. The thought of Jeter and Damon wearing it too is just nasty, seriously get your own man-thong. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3401029
  14. Right now the offense simply has to ensure Soriano comes up to bat in the 9th.
  15. Imagine if Lee actually hit worth a lick these past two weeks along with Sori, it would be unreal for this offense.

I don't think he heard you yesterday, wow is right.
  17. Someone needs to recreate the theme song from Shaft for Soto!
  18. The Twins got screwed in the deal simply by not getting the best prospect in the Mets organization. Seriously how do you even discuss the trade with the Mets with Fernando Martinez not being in the discussion. They didn't do bad, but would have been better off working something out with the Red Sox.
  19. This disturbs me. Likewise. I'm not sure I want to know what's contained in a bottle of Alou. Alou vera? Seriously, you all don't know? I can't tell if the green font should be used here or not.
  20. I pretty much believe he performs better playing this way. He is so relaxed and confident when he is at his best. He makes more plays and swings an even bigger bat.
  21. What would it take for another team to land Soto?
  22. As is every one of his posts.
  23. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3399784 haha, well now they are.
  24. You have some kind of sick vendetta against a couple players on this team; it's pretty ridiculous. First of all, never at any point did anyone, not even Z, say that Zambrano was any kind of spokesman. A reporter heard we signed Edmonds - someone who Z has had 'problems' or whatever with in the past - and asked Zambrano his thoughts about it. He had nothing to say. No one is trying to say he speaks for the team and it's not like Z is going out and trying to be a spokesman. Secondly, how in the world do you know who the leaders of the team are? You just like Derrek Lee and think he's a good player - plus he seems like a nice guy, so he must be the one and only leader of this team, right? I'm not denying that Lee is any of those things, because from everything any of us can tell he is each and every one of them. But the point is, you have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. From the best that I can tell, at least from just watching the team warm up/take BP before the gates open - Z is if nothing else someone that everyone likes. When he walks up to a group they almost immediately change from just sitting there and stretching/talking to smiling and laughing. It looks, at least from an outsider looking in point of view, that he plays a leader role himself. Even if that role is only to keep everyone loose. Long story short - If you want to pick a couple guys to hate, I'd advise you to pick guys that don't seem to be genuinely nice and good at baseball on top of that. You'll have better luck getting your point across. Look at who your talking too.
  25. I was fixing to say the same thing. They should move him IMO.
