  1. Yeah, the "old school" type catchers mask rests right along the space between your lower lip and chin. I noticed Barrett's stitches are along his lower lip, so that prolly explains why he switched?
  2. Totally agree. Tell me, IF A-Rod opts out - isn't he losing $27 mil a year? He'd really be an idiot to do that. He's got 3/81 remaining. If he opts out and signs a 5/125 he makes $2m less per year for the next 3, but guarantees himself $44m that wasn't guaranteed before. Not to mention he gets to avoid being blamed for everything bad that happens to the Yankees. He'd really be an idiot to not consider the option. It's not like he'll be forced to sign for the minimum if he opts out. Pretty good point. Do you think the Cubs would be able to handle another contract like that?

  4. I think both of those guys have a good chance to become excellent utilitymen/slightly above average starters. Objectively, that's not saying much, but with this system, that's a huge success. If anything, Theriot & Fontenot could make Hendry look really foolish for spending millions on DeRosa (not so much), Jones, and Izturis. Tyler Colvin is a pretty nice looking prospect who has the arm to play RF and the range/speed to play CF.
  5. Are you trying to say Auburn officiating is biased????? I am.
  6. I pretty much hate him because he has a big problem with tucking in his jersey - and his torso is too long for a human being.
  7. I dunno. It actually seems like Theriot has been playing better defense at SS. I have noticed him getting to balls with improved range. Am I imagining this, or have you guys seen it too?
  8. I just don't understand why so many people have perpetuated the myth that the Cubs would have no LH bats if they dealt Jones. First, Floyd would end up getting the majority of his time. Also, Pie would be the everyday CF with Jones gone. You have the switch hitting Izturis playing in at least half the games. Ward is on the bench, Pagan is a switch hitter and so is the temporary backup catcher. More importantly - what exactly has Jones DONE with his left-handed swing?
  9. I really don't think Zambrano was a icehole for fighting with Barrett, I think he was for calling him out in front of his teammates. Regardless, I think he showed a lot in what he said and the whole thing is water under the bridge. Zambrano is a young guy, and I think he prolly learned a valuable lesson from all this. I thought it was exciting. Unfortunate, but exciting. Besides, they are playing better baseball right now - and anything is better than focusing on the way they were playing before the fight, ejections, etc.
  10. No link = not true. Just kidding. Congratulations, Mr. G. Here's to a very successful career.
  11. Murton is obviously NOT going to play on this team. He needs a home where they will let him play. He is just a square peg, and nothing is going to change with Soriano rooted in LF, and Pie in CF. Matt Murton is not a RFer. I'd love to see him develop with the Cubs, because I think he is going to be a hitter - but he has a window, and time is slipping away. He should be traded. As should Jones, who is terrible.
  12. I'm assuming that by "she-male, muscular types" all they are saying is that A-Rod likes muscular women. Not women with three legs, right?
  13. Bring me Jair Jurrjens or Eulogio de la Cruz! Holy Cow, is that Bases Loaded 2?
  14. ...I am not sure what the scouts think about this Mexican League, but the word is it is AA-AAA level play. There are a few catchers that I thought had interesting #'s.... Emmanuel Valdez http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Emmanuel%2520Valdez&pos=55&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=463345 Jonathan Aceves http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Jonathan%2520Aceves&pos=49&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=425842 Saul Soto (doesn't look like he can handle lefties) http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Saul%2520Soto&pos=58&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=466089 Mario Santana http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Mario%2520Santana&pos=60&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=470047
  15. ....and I'm not going to tell you that "it takes two to tango," or that I have any kind of idea what the atmosphere in the Cubs clubhouse is - because like you, I have no idea. What I will say, and those of you who play(ed) baseball can confirm, is that it takes a real jackass to openly and publicly criticize a teammate. This is not the first time (by a longshot) that Carlos Zambrano has called out a teammate for a physical error (mental errors like the baserunning gaff are different). That is a fault of Zambrano's that he is going to have to take care of before he will be considered a man or a good teammate, and as far as I am concerned Z gets the "Nuthair Award" for the day.
  16. Maybe they were fighting over who had the better McDonalds commercial? Clearly, the better one was the Zambrano eyebrow spot.
  17. Man, I knew Barrett was a little crazy - but do you really want a piece of El Toro? Really?
  18. Hopefully the bus is ok. Yeah, if anyone has any Dunkin Donuts stock, nows the time to unload.
  19. Ya, looks like Z made first contact, but Barrett was the one who was initiating contact. That's my take. Barrett was the physical aggressor but Z made first actual contact. MB was moving forward and reaching out as Z was backing up, and he made a defensive push off. Perfectly worded. It's pretty obvious that Barrett is kinda rushing to Z, and Z responds with an attempted bumrush. I would love to know the way things have been going with these guys in the clubhouse.
  20. When describing Wickman: Hughes: Wickman is a huge man. 6 foot and 280-290 pounds. He has huge upper legs. Santo: Yeah, he has a huge upper belly.
  21. Hey OleMiss - thanks for uploading that for us so quickly. Way to step up.
  22. It does kinda look like Barrett kinda puts his glove on Z's chest. That isn't really smart. Z would clearly tear MB apart.
  23. It reminds me a lot of this fight....
