  1. Giving up a few games to see if a guy can play....are you serious? We only won the division by 2 games last year and people were crying for him to play last year...in Lou's better judgement he went with Jacque and he was a big help in our division title If Pie was hitting .250 and drawing a walk here and there he would be in there everyday, but he's not even close to that and right now in his career is a defensive replacement in the major leagues Regardless of what he did last year in the minors, that is where he belongs if they want him playing everyday because he is not a everyday major leaguer yet
  2. Completely self-defeating thinking. If a prospect isn't an immediate success in the majors, they can't play? This seems like exactly the kind of detrimental mentality that has helped the Cubs not develop more players internaly. They havent developed any good players because they havent had any players with enuf talent to develope into major league players....its not like these guys are going to another team and becoming great either
  3. Pedroia hit 182/308/236 in the month of April last year. Chris Young through May 3rd: .202 .255 .383 Tulowitzki through April 25th: .185 .274 .246 Josh Fields through 23 games: .218 .274 .333 Each of these guys had cups of coffees (~80 PAS)the year before and were bad then as well. That's just from guys who got rookie of the year votes last year. The only ones to start well were Braun, Delmon Young, and Reggie Willits. Pie hit .362 .410 .563 in AAA last year. I'd say he has a clue. Are you telling me he has nothing left to work on at the plate? That is just ridiculous...the massive holes in his long swing are glaring and nevermind the fact he doesnt have a good idea of the strike zone at all He is talented but still very raw.....he knows what he needs to work on now, and if he doesnt he probably wont ever stick up here
  4. Yep. He is so overmatched at the plate it's comical at times. The question now is do you keep him with the big league team and give him a start every 10 games or so and let him be a late inning defensive replacement or send him down and let him work on shortening his swing? I know, I know...he crushes AAA pitching and has nothing more to prove. Clearly he does have more to prove because nothing he did down there is translating here and now. i know he's been bad. but can you really give up on him 2 weeks into the season? if he's struggling like this in june, then i'd look for some other solutions. No one is giving up on him, but he has to EARN a job, it cant just be given to him....the best player has to play and he isnt the best yet
  5. I'm not totally convinced the Cubs don't give the guys a chance to prove themselves in the major leagues. You can't leave a player in the lineup everyday that is hurting the team. There is still competition in baseball and you have to prove yourself. It has to make Lou sick to put Pie in the lineup right now, hes an automatic out. You have to play the best player in the present and develope guys in the minor leagues. when they get their shot at the majors they better make a splash or they are headed back. When you look at the good young players that have came up and stuck in the league the last few years they almost all have had a good start and continued. I'm not saying Pie won't ever be any good, but let him play in the minors and get a clue at the plate. He now knows what he needs to fix to make him better at the major league level. If Soto would have hit .220 when he came up last year and continued it thru the spring, he wouldnt be playing right now, but hes earned his job. Handing guys jobs is just not the way to do it. If Pie goes back to Iowa for a while, I believe he will come back a better player and if he doesnt he knows right back where he will be....putting pressure on guys and making them earn it is not a bad thing at all. Just my .02
  6. that is collusion....id drop every player and leave the league
  7. We should probably just release Soriano while we are at it....he is struggling after a week and a half and has a long swing
  8. Joe Buck and al Hrabosky hands down
  9. I have done my share of Theriot bashing but he was very good 2day....got on base in 2 crucial situations and stole 2nd twice....granted it was off the bench where he is best suited, but nice job today Lee, Kosuke, and Soto had nice games too...and of course Ronny had 1 huge hit just glad we won this mf'er
  10. i would get rid of all veterans and anyone under the age of 25, so basically anyone not named Fukudome...we will be lucky to win 60 games with this bunch of slackers and losers.....4 games is plenty to tell what we've got and it time to write off the season sarcasm
  11. wheres brian roberts?????????? sarcasm
  12. dont mention wood....remember he had a bad outing and is no good anymore
  13. why the hell do we refuse to run on the worst catcher in the league? mind boggling
  14. I THINK HE WAS BEING SARCASTIC WITH THE SHOCKER COMMENT
  15. ID RATHER HAVE HAMILTON AND SHIELDS IF YOU SAY HOLDS COUNT....SHIELDS WILL PROBABLY END UP WITH MORE WINS THAN BURNETT TOO
  16. There is a reason we havent traded Murton yet....nobody wants a punchin-judy hitting left fielder
  17. I don't think its the fact that Hendry is concentrating on 2B, its more of the best guy available right now happens to be a 2B and we dont already have an all-star there....if the best SS was available via trade dont you think hed be going after him? it takes more than 1 team to trade.....but i will say this has gone on way too long...grow some balls and start giving ultimatums Hendry.....the Orioles dont want to pay his salary so put some pressure on them or tell em to get bent
  18. not really worried about hill....the curveballs do not break out there, especially in the open parks, and hes been working on his changeup more....the fastball not getting over is probably just frustration...or at least i hope
  19. i would consider that ok with me for an all-star 2B Mark Loretta is an all-star 2B. Do you want him to? not a good comparison....loretta is almost 40
  20. That sounds like smart baseball to me. Every team trades their three best pitching prospects plus more "to strengthen their bench." I also doubt DeRosa is going to hit 400 ABs. most teams have better pitching prospects tho
  21. just do it and get it done....its basically roberts for gallagher from what ive seen and ive seen veal and ceda at least 10 times a piece....both have live arms but cant throw strikes nor do they have any major league pitches besides a fastball....cedeno is nothing more than a reserve....gally could be a 4 or 5 and maybe even a #3 in the future but i would consider that ok with me for an all-star 2B just my .02
  22. i guess other would mean none of them? they were all influential and good for society
  23. that very same glendon rusch who is being watched by reds scouts every step he takes in hopes of luring him in....ive got a source of a source of a source that said dusty guaranteed him a starting role dude....
  24. its probably those 3, the other pitcheris probably hill and we'll just throw in colvin for good measure......i have inside sources on the inside that know the inside info and bring it to the outside
  25. This guy keeps coming in here at random times and posting stuff like this as though he has some form of inside info. Does anybody know who he is? I am Peoriaman! :) That is what the O's wanted. They call cedeno, Marshall, etc "spare parts". Roberts is an all-star and they want one very good major MLB player in return. That is Hill. Hill is better and much cheaper than Roberts.....i dont know if Andy would have even asked for him cuz he already knew the answer
