  1. Are you saying that you would actually prefer Zambrano or Garza?
  2. Good choice and I would be tempted to put Z as the 3 with Garza following Demp but I understand the reasoning that Quade used. Z has been terrible on opening day and he needs some motivation in my opinion.
  3. Government went after some child porn site(s) and in the process took down FreeDNS which lead to 84,000 sites immediately coming down. It was fixed pretty quickly but it takes a little while for that to filter through all of the ISP's. I am guessing but the timing is about right.
  4. Related? http://torrentfreak.com/u-s-government-shuts-down-84000-websites-by-mistake-110216/
  5. I had the same issue yesterday. I didn't try on my phone but FF. Chrome, Safari and IE all failed with the same issue. Fine today though.
  6. The delivery, arm angle and stress on his elbow/shoulder concern me but this sounds like a pretty good deal. His out pitch is as brutal on his body as it is to hitters so a long-term deal isn't wise. Two to three years is about right to me.
  7. Both are fine IMO. I don't really see the issue with Otto.....he isn't that bad.
  8. In particular, Lee and Ramirez performed abysmally over the first half of last year: 2010 first half #s: NL: .257/.327/.402 Cubs: .254/.321/.398 Lee: .233/.329 /.366 Ramirez: .207/.268/.380 Removing the contribution of Lee and Ramirez (~18% of total PA over that period) and replacing it with their career average numbers yields a team line of .265/.331/.421. Merely average first-halves for Lee and Ramirez may have been enough to bring the offense from below average in every category to above average across the board. The fact that they typically occupied the middle of the lineup didn't help, either. Fortunately, Aramis was his old self in the second half (.276/.321/.526 w/ 15 HR in 246 PA), so that augurs well for 2011. Even a modest rebound from Peña should more than compensate for losing DLee. Excellent analysis. THIS is the type of stuff I come here to read. Unfortunately I'm forced to read 15 pages of arguments and name calling to find these posts though.
  9. I'm sure it wasn't his fault. She was probably a racist and sent him some "letters".
  10. Marcum and Volquez are too low. McGehee is vastly underrated IMO. He has OPS'd over .800 two years in a row. I would still take Ramirez and Rolen ahead of him. Berkman should be higher. To me the Cubs come down to a couple keys: 1. Starting pitching - Zambrano and Garza in particular 2. Bullpen has to be much better than last year 3. Health of the other teams in the division 4. Soto Anything can happen in the playoffs but I don't think the Cubs match up well with the Reds, Cards and Brewers. At this point I think this is a 75 win team. Relying on Zambrano is risky. Other than Marmol and Marshall the bullpen is a question mark. The Cubs need down years or injuries to three teams in their division to compete and I don't see that happening. I sincerely hope the team is out of it by ASB and ships Zambrano to the Red Sox for prospects. Hendry is trying to save his job this year but I think he should be setting up for a strong run in 2012.
  11. bubblesdachimp (DC): Do the Cubs have the best farm system in the NL central right now? Jim Callis: Neck and neck with the Reds.
  12. Dan (Lansing): What can you tell me about Dallas Beeler? Jim Callis: Another good sleeper from the 2010 draft. Had Tommy John surgery at Oral Roberts, throwing 92-95 again and also showing a promising slider.
  13. That is like 5 questions from Dan in Lansing
  14. WTF?? Dallas Beeler?
  15. Completely forgot about 2009 top 10 guy Watkins. Dropped off the list entirely this year.
  16. Excellent question, interesting reply:
  17. Is one of you guys "Jaypers"?
  18. I asked a Vitters question but I doubt it gets answered.
  19. In my opinion Vitters and Simpson should be lower while Szczur and Guyer should be higher.
  20. Not a good Friday. RIP Ronnie.
  21. Agreed. This organization is dumb. Offering arb to Hill is beyond dumb. No one else will, but Hendry will be surprised when he accepts. Read page 1, not that type of arb I see. I still wonder why though....I was under the impression that Hill was gone.
