  1. His numbers imply that he has a lot of movement. Does anyone know if that is indeed the case? Entirely too many walks for him.
  2. I blame the racist fans in Seattle. Maybe the Reds (and Dusty) should sign him. Two peas in a pod....
  3. Bases loaded, no outs and they don't score. K popout groundout I hate this team
  4. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
  5. Bases loaded with no outs, Soto GIDP and a pitcher groundout results in one [expletive] run. Pathetic.
  6. an expiring contract? this isn't the nba. Wouldn't that potentially have some appeal to a team in serious financial trouble? Thank you. The mets are so bad off right now that they need to start shipping guys out quickly. I'm pretty sure they are 600 million in the hole and no one is going to their games. But yeah the mets would take some back lash for trading wright so they would at least need to feign competitiveness by picking up a deteriorating veteran who they arent on the hook for past this year. all the while picking up pitchers which is the biggest reason why they have sucked for the last 8 years. They are looking to sell a percentage of the team to get some ready cash. Making the team less valuable isn't in their best interests. I highly doubt they trade Wright but I could see Reyes go.
  7. Nice outing by Z. Trade him while his value is high!
  8. Byrd at 3 again http://www.northsidebaseball.com/forum/post/quote?f=26&p=2613662?post/quote&f=26&p=2613662# edit: why isn't the smiley working for me?
  9. I didn't realize that Raley's numbers were so bad. Is the issue his fringy stuff in a tougher league or has he been wild? Too many walks.
  10. McNutt, Vitters and Aramis for Wright? I would do that in a second.
  11. No idea. Maybe Rothschild was better at recognizing small mechanical differences in his throwing motion or the specific reasons why his slider is flat. Colon is pitching very well for the Yanks. Not saying that is entirely on Rothschild but having a very good pitching coach doesn't hurt.
  12. Not sure if this been brought up already, but I wonder if Rothschild leaving has had a negative impact on Dempster. No team can lose 40% of their rotation at the beginning of the season and not expect some direct ramifications so this can't be blamed on Riggins entirely. Having said that, Dempster has been terrible after a good spring. I wonder if Riggins has had a net negative impact on Dempster.
  13. This isn't going to be a good series. Why Russell gets another start is beyond me. It's like giving away a game every 5th day.
  14. Is it pronounced wit-nack of white-nack?
  15. It looks like Russell is getting another start despite the fact that opponents are hitting .362 against him. Shoot me
  16. Pat Hughes mentioned that it's not raining at the moment, but they're not preparing to take up the tarp.... so apparently there is another wave of showers about to come through. Looks like more showers are coming through: http://www.chicagoweathercenter.com/radar/
  17. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2011-04-26/sports/ct-spt-0427-cubs-rockies-chicago--20110426_1_cubs-manager-mike-quade-andrew-cashner-cubs-fans Starting to get the feeling he's not gonna be extended. Absolutely no excuse for batting Byrd in the 3 hole. At this point it should be anybody BUT him. Here's a thought....how ARam or Soto? Just a thought.... Overall I'm still on the Quade bandwagon but continuing to throw Russell, Byrd at 3 and Soto 7 ......it's getting on my nerves. It's hard to arrange the middle of the order hitters when they've all been terrible so far: Soriano: .235/.258/.518 Byrd: .281/.303/.365 Soto: .227/.318/.320 Pena: .169/.306/.186 Colvin: .128/.196/.319 Not easy to arrange those hitters. Soto and Soriano have probably hit into the most bad luck (although both of them have at least one poor peripheral number) but none of them have produced so far. Agreed, but Byrd's numbers are skewed by a hot first week. He is flailing away right now and last night he looked terrible. He is a guaranteed out right now hitting in a slugging spot in the order. Anyone but him would suffice.

Absolutely no excuse for batting Byrd in the 3 hole. At this point it should be anybody BUT him. Here's a thought....how about ARam or Soto? Overall I'm still on the Quade bandwagon but continuing to throw Russell, Byrd at 3 and Soto 7 ......it's getting on my nerves.
  19. Why is it that everyone here can predict how yesterday's start was going to go by noon, yet the Cubs seem confident right up to the 4th inning and yet another homer given up by Russell, before finally pulling the plug? Seriously, who didn't see another bad start coming? I understand that no team expects to lose 40% of their rotation on the same day but continuing to throw Russell out there is inexcusable. So [expletive] sick of yet another [expletive] team. It wasn't that they were expecting Russell to turn it around but more of the fact that they didn't feel anybody else was ready yet. After the last Russell start, they had articles that pretty much said that they were looking around desperately to try to find anybody who could pitch last night. Once they didn't find anybody, they went back to Russell. I guess you could say that they had Coleman and Jackson as the next in line in case someone in the rotation went down. It was unfortunate that Jackson had some trouble to start the season and like I said, no team can expect to easily handle 2 starters going down on the same day early in the season. Watch Russell become a headcase who can't get anyone out now....

  21. Byrd has three AB's against De La Rosa and has two hits. Very small sample size but that is my best guess as to why he is in the 3 slot tonight.
  22. Or change the thread name to "Wow Castro Sucks at defense".... Only kidding but damn I hate when Castro does this... Now idiotic Cubs fans will be in Steve Stones corner as the next GM of the Cubs and want to move Castro to LF. we need him to be a better fielder just because I'm put off by Keith Moreland pronouncing error as "era." Moreland at times sounds disturbingly similar to Phil Simms. Agreed. Simms irritates the hell out of me but somehow (perhaps it's Pat) I tolerate it with Moreland.
  23. Heh, so it happens other places as well besides here. Pathetic When did that happen here? June last year. I too would like a follow up to this question. What happened to NSBB involving regulators and personal information? (BeerHere works for a very large IT organization that frequently deals with regulators, information security and privacy) Is there anything that I can do? PM Tim?
