  1. http://www.baseballamerica.com/online/prospects/prospect-bulletin/2011/2611616.html Love the part where he talks about the development of the changeup.
  2. Maybe the plan is to call up Jackson from AAA for the next Russell start. I would love to see that, but Jackson has only had a couple of starts himself. I can't see him going more then 4 or 5 innings max. Would he be really be a better option that Russell? I'm tired of seeing Russell but I have a feeling that we'll see Ortiz before Jackson. Too bad Diamond has been so bad.
  3. Jackson makes the BA Hot Sheet again at #6 and Ha gets a mention as well. I didn't know he was just 20. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prospects/prospect-hot-sheet/2011/2611613.html On Ha:
  4. I'm wondering if Bibens-Dirks (or whatever) or Mathes would have been a better choice. Russell is terrible.
  5. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/sns-ap-bbn-cardinals-franklin-apology,0,6365531.story Franklin concluded: "They're supposed to be the best fans in baseball. Yeah, right."
  6. Sorry, I really don't see why everyone here is so high on Lake.
  7. I had to bribe my way on. For a potentially better investment though, how about joining me on the Rubi Silva bandwagon? .381/.409/.548 while slugging .957. He's 21 in low A ball. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=RF&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=600975
  8. Indeed, Dolis out after 2.1 IP. Hope he's alright. Dolis. My bad.
  9. Apparently the game has been postponed in favor of a DH tomorrow http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/breaking/cbsports-cubspadres-game-in-doubt-20110419,0,1603930.story
  10. I realize that it is out of necessity, but Russell doesn't really seem like much of a bullpen arm to me let alone a starter. JR Mathes would seem like the better-of-the-worst options to me.
  11. He and Chip Caray were let go for being too critical of the team. I think it was a situation where the contracts were not renewed. At least that is how I remember it. Am I wrong? According to wikipedia Stone refused to renew his contract after the 2004 season during which he was confronted by several players who thought he was overly critical. My bad.

  13. Unfortunately, I think the sox turn that down
  14. Peavy has more pain Dunn isn't hitting Gordon Bacon isn't hitting The pen....oh the bullpen is glorious Couldn't happen to a more deserving gm, manager and fanbase I'm loving every single minute of it.
  15. I watched a portion of that game yesterday, he also made a stellar catch in CF.
  16. I was listening to the score this morning (AM670) and they had Stoney on again. After listening to him gush over Castro I have come to the conclusion that Stoney is negative about anything that Hendry touches (Garza, Bradley, Silva, trades in general, etc) but anything that Hendry can't take direct credit for (scouting, draft etc) he is more open minded about. He is clearly bitter about being fired.
  17. Does anyone know what happened to Jay Jackson? Did he show up camp overweight or is this injury related? I don't even bother reading the Iowa box scores these days.
  18. Brett Jackson made the BA Hot Sheet http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prospects/prospect-hot-sheet/2011/2611586.html
  19. I think it's probably a given that he'll be up in September and, barring some sort of collapse, should probably be up for good at that point. So really, September versus June/July/August really doesn't make a difference. It doesn't impact super 2 status, and unless we call him up in the next couple weeks he wont get enough service time to qualify for FA sooner. If he earns a promotion, I don't see any reason not to give it to him. Our OF is overcrowded to begin with, so you're talking about trading one of our OFs in the next 3 months to make room for him. Colvin and Soriano I really doubt are getting dealt, and Byrd makes a lot more sense in the offseason. I'd like to see Jackson sooner rather than later, but I don't really see the benefit to doing so earlier than September, unless he's completely terrorizing AAA for 200+ PA's. I think we can both agree the Cubs will be trying to move Fukudome regardless. If Colvin isn't performing well, it may make sense to slide Byrd to RF and get Jackson up to the bigs to see what we've got. If Colvin is performing well, I really don't see how holding onto Byrd until the offseason makes it more likely we'll get a good deal for him. We may have to settle for guys who are further away, but the general quality of the package is going to be about the same. Isn't this the last year of Fukudome's contract? I don't understand your point about trying to move him. Are you referring to the July tade deadline?
  20. Carlos Lee needs some chin music from Z
  21. Am I missing something? Tennessee didn't play on Tuesday.
  22. With Ortiz and now Davis I'm beginning to worry that the injuries to Cash and/or Wells are a little more serious than previously communicated.
