  1. 50M wasn't enough for him. He got greedy and needed to turn that into more. He failed and I'm having a hard time finding any sympathy.
  2. This is why I love this site. Well said.
  3. Levine said on Waddle and Silvy the other day that the majority of his information comes from other teams. Sounds like there are little to no sources inside the front office nowadays, a major change from the Hendry regime. As I said earlier, Levine has no inside information whatsoever. Feel free to disagree with me davell but you'll be hard-pressed to find any information out of Levine that isn't a) pure speculation on his part -- or-- b) not widely known by anything that follows the team to any extent. If you choose to continue to suckle from the Levine teet, be my guest. Uh, at what point did I say Levine has inside info at this point? I'm guessing he's confused davell with david David.....my bad. Sorry davell.

  5. Bruce Levine has no inside information. He is speculating, simple as that. If Rizzo is called up this Saturday it will be a coincidence based on a guess relative to his service time. Nothing more.
  6. I feel the same. He's nothing special but he's cheap and under team control for a while.
  7. Confirmation from BA: http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/draft/2012/06/cubs-blackburn-agree-on-911700/
  8. =D> Best post I've seen in a while.
  9. 7 day DL for a minor knee injury. http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/prospects/2012/06/minor-league-transactions-june-5-11/
  10. Agreed. I hate it too but it's true. This team is rebuilding and needs to restock.
  11. I don't know why you'd word it like that, I'll happily continue to say that the Cubs aren't a 100 loss team. If anyone is convinced to the contrary I can make a sig bet or something if you think people are just blowing smoke with no conviction. More to the point, the Cubs have played about as poorly as they can play(very few guys playing above projection with plenty below, 4 games below pythagorean, horrible 1-run game numbers, etc), and they still have to play at less than a 70 win pace to beat the 100 loss stigma. If they completely gut the MLB roster by dealing Garza, Dempster, Soriano, and DeJesus, that's obviously a different story, but the team as currently constructed(or even without a player or two due to injury/trade) is better than 62 wins. Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup. Anyone screaming about how they know this is a 100-loss team is a simmering, succulent meatball. Right...a 99 or 95 loss team is MUCH better than a 100 loss team.
  12. This. I like a player with some attitude but if he's getting in trouble with his coaches in his first week of pro ball he going to need to tone it down a little.
  13. Please get Koy Hill off this roster.
  14. Reed Johnson is the #5 hitter in this lineup. :banghead:
  15. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=SS&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=570489 http://www.baseballamerica.com/statistics/players/cards/82785 20 and will turn 21 in October, doing well in Daytona. Some power but I'd like to see some more patience. Looks to have good speed. OPS is .777 this year, .655 last year in Peoria in 370AB. Anyone have some idea of his defense at SS? Arm strength? This is really the first year I've been watching the kid and there isn't much talk of him anywhere.
  16. No I would be a "no" as well but it's pretty close.
  17. I was pretty hard on Russell last year but he has been pretty damn good this year. Nice job kid.
  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPhJOVDgeAk DADGUMMIT!!
  19. And miss your nuggets of wisdom? No chance.
  20. too bad Moreland is on the call. Why does Pat take the inning off? mid-game [expletive] Nice contribution.
  21. Was Lalli sent down when Clevenger was activated?
  22. I realize this is petty and I should be a better person and fan than this, but, as irrational as I know it is, I simply cannot forgive Dempster for the game1 performance against the Dodgers in the playoffs. No, it wasn't entirely his fault. Yes the team didn't score much for him and yes I do like him as a ballplayer. However, the team needed a big time performance in that game from him. To come out so small, so nervous, so wild.....after a season of so much hope. I simply can't look past that. I know the issue is entirely mine and I may be alone. To me, the guy is a #3 at best. So you can't separate your irrational feelings that you are aware are irrational from your evaluation of him as a baseball player? That's some tasty meatballin. You're fooling yourself if you think nets anything more than a couple fringe prospects at the deadline. Uh...where did I say anything having to do with anything like that? Enlighten me. What is your evaluation of him as a baseball player?
