  1. Soto is hitting a robust .140 with that single.
  2. Marmol ruined a great start by Samardzija
  3. Final line for Simpson: 4.1ip 8h 5er 7BB 2k Szczur with a good night Single, double, walk, 1run, 1rbi avg up to .225
  4. I know some here still think he's got a shot. But I'm sticking my fork in him.
  5. Simpson with another poor start: 4ip 5H 6BB 2K 2ER
  6. Speechless. I couldn't disagree more. I love Garza but this offense is brutal and with LaHair out and Soriano in runs will be few a far between. Isn't the wind blowing in from the lake? It is. And that favors the Cubs, too. Since we have absolutely no power, there's nothing for the wind to take away. Anything can happen but to me, the Cards offense + wind blowing in is still much better than Garza and the pathetic Cubs offense. 3-1 Cards
  7. When did I turn into the most negative poster in NSBB? :banghead: Please shoot me.
  8. There is one thing that is guaranteed to be working for Wainwright....he's facing the Cubs offense. That alone is enough for me to predict a win.

  11. This is going to be a blood bath. Cardinals always seem to be up for the series with the Cubs. This Cubs team is terrible and they know it. 1-2 is best case scenario but a sweep is most likely. Cue the tard fans. This is not a good season to be a Cub fan.
  12. At least the replacement is interesting, but something fishy is going on with Simpson. Early season issues...new injury...something.... If it hasn't been settled already, I think Simpson will end up being one of the worst (if not the worst) first round picks of the Hendry era. And that says something considering the Brownlie's and Pawelek's of that time. Was Ben Christiansen a Hendry draftee?
  13. What has happened to Ronald Torreyes? Maybe I was expecting too much but an OBP of .250 while slugging .194? This guy was an on base machine when he was a Red. Is still early, but other than Rizzo and to a lesser extent Brett Jackson this has been a disappointing start to the minor league season for Cubs prospects. Beeler maybe? :( Ugh
  14. I think they lose 100 no matter what. There isn't enough offense on this team. The pitching overall is fairly good, but if you can't hit and score runs you aren't going to win often. If Dempster is hurt for a period of time things are really going to be bleak. The Cubs need him in the rotation to obviously win games, but they also need him there for trade bait. I don't think the pitching is "fairly good" myself. This team is brutal.
  15. According to Pay Hughes, that throw from Soto was on the first base side but Castro short-armed it resulting in anE6 and Stubbs getting third.
  16. I don't see why you're so upset about it. It's not like Dempster being healthy or not was make or break for this season, anyway. We were going to suck with or without him. Well said but this could hurt his July trade value. This team is going to suck with or without him but a healthy Dempster at least has the potential to help build for the future.
  17. This makes very little sense. Who in their right mind is embarrassed by the presence of that scoreboard? And no, you can't easily replace it with an electronic version that is the same size with replay screen and stats. Any replacement with a screen is going to require a much bigger size and/or much less information on the screen. They'd be better off maintaining and upgrading the board as is, and adding additional screens elsewhere in the stadium. I'm in my right mind and I'm embarrassed by the thing. I disagree that it would need to be MUCH bigger - a lot of the current scoreboard is wasted green space. The board in Minute Maid Park isn't much bigger, same for Lucas Oil Field yet they offer modern functionality. Have you ever sat beneath the scoreboard? BRRRRRRR.....CLUNK! is a common sound. It needs to go. I'm sure the new park in Hoffman Estates will have a better scoreboard.
  18. I did the Wrigley tour a few years ago. We went through the clubhouse, under the bleachers, the radio and TV booths etc. We also did a tour of the scoreboard. It's remarkably cramped inside and HOT which you would expect. There is rust and peeling paint everywhere and it is apparently a nightmare to maintain. I've sat in the bleachers under the scoreboard and had to listen to the buzzing and loud CLANK noises with every pitch and out. Nostalgia aside, the thing is an embarrassment and should be replaced. I'm ok with something that looks the same but has more modern functionality. It could easily be replaced with an electronic version that is the same size and also offers a replay screen, stats etc.
  19. Standard double switch? Dolis now has pitched 6 innings and has recorded 1 strikeout. Right, my bad.
  20. Byrd injured or taken out for lack of offense?
  21. How bad is it? http://twitpic.com/9b24xq I sincerely hope the new stadium is a huge flop. A failure of that magnitude couldn't happen to a more deserving owner (and manager).
  22. He embodies the BS political machine in Chicago. Rooftop owners heavily invest/contribute to his campaign and he prevents the Cubs from doing anything that doesn't benefit them. He is a scumbag, douche politician.
  23. Jumbotron, more stuff for kids, better food, better parking for out of town people, more signs, [expletive] the rooftop owners. I'm a fan of all.
  24. Szczur 4-5 (all singles) with a run scored to raise his average above the Mendoza line.
