  1. Where are you finding information on Malave's winter performance? Does anyone have information on Luis Acosta (where he played this winter) as well?
  2. Bye bye Angelo. Take your crappy scouts with you.
  3. Hello? Its Dale's brother! Yeesh. It cracks me up that all of these "people in the know" predict when a trade is going to happen. Quite a few pages ago somebody who knew somebody claimed it was going down on Tuesday. Everybody knows the Cubs are shopping Garza and 3-4 teams are seriously interested, so saying a trade is going to happen soon isn't really going to far out on a limb. Agreed. The Hoyer/Epstein front office is also very tight lipped, much more so than the Hendry crew. The fact that anyone thinks they can predict if/when something happens is laughable. I'm a little surprised that we even know they are shopping Garza.
  4. I honestly don't see what everyone likes about Golden. He played last year in Boise at age 19 and his slugging was the same as the year prior .400. His OPS and OBP were both not great. He also showed up in the spring out of shape. I can understand the projection but he hasn't really shown anything to justify *any* hype IMO.
  5. I am glad I am not the only one. I don't know what it is either, but it's there for me as well.
  6. Decent deal if he can stay healthy.

  8. Interesting. Any trade for Garza involving Detroit has to involve Turner but I'm on the fence about Porcello. He throws a lot of innings, decent control but he gets hit a LOT (whip of 1.3, 1.4 and 1.4 over the last 3). He makes his starts and limits the free passes so he seems like he may be a Theo-type pitcher. I would ask for Turner, Porcello and one lesser prospect given Garza is still under team control at a decent salary.
  9. In the absence of any other moves, does this cement a role for Castillo in 2012? If Soto is traded, Castillo becomes the starter. If Soto stays, Castillo is the backup? Seems right to me.
  10. Arbitration for Garza, DeWitt, Baker, Soto and Wells. Non-tender for Hill. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-cubs-nontender-hill-offer-arbitration-to-five-players-20111212,0,6607651.story
  11. I'm sorry. Douchebag McAHole is on PED's and Fielder is leaving. I LOVE IT!!!
  12. Don't hold your breath. Even if the Cubs sign Prince, Boras is going to push for a protracted bidding war. Agreed....I'll predict at least one "mystery" team gets involved as well.

  14. According to the BA twitter feed, the Cubs selected Leandro Castro (OF) from the Phillies. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=castro001lea
  15. The 2011 Cubs did have some bad luck, but that roster was a .500 team at best. Everyone here knew it at the start of the season. I fully agree with your points regarding the draft but bad luck only served to expose the flaws of the team, it wasn't a primary driver.
  16. In Starlin Castro's spray chart and half the pitching staff's FIP. Castro and half of a decent-but-not-spectacular rotation is still a crappy team.
  17. You value Morrison higher than Gio Gonzalez? I go completely the other way....I say they get laughed at if they approach the A's and ask for Gonzalez in exchange for Zambrano and cash. He means Morrison would be dealt for Geo. I see. My bad.

  19. Marlins system kind of sucks. A package from them would more likely start with Morrison. Not sure whether Nolasco makes sense for us, but I'm sure they'd try sending him. Personally, I think Z becomes much more of an option for them, if they do get Pujols. We'd eat most of the contract probably, he's buddies with Ozzie, and maybe they'd send us Matt Dominguez in return. Dominguez + salary relief + no more Z That would have to be a start because I think Z would get a little more than that, depending of course on how much salary gets eaten. Is Dominguez+Morrison enough to get Z and $10M?
  20. Reportedly, yes. It doesn't appear to be a serious one. I would say that the offer was simply to drive up the price. If that is indeed the strategy I completely agree provided that they're also working Fielder on a more serious offer. Though driving up the price for Pujols would also seem to drive up the price for Fielder.
  21. Yes. Less years but higher $$ (per year). Looks like the Marlins may be on the verge of signing him after allegedly agreeing to a NTC.
