Dodgers got Victorino for Martin and Lindblom. I think that removes Soriano but ZLee is still on the table.... http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/breaking/chi-dodgers-acquire-victorino-for-two-pitchers-20120731,0,6674054.story
Do you really see them trading him this offseason? There is a gaping hole at 3B. Vitters is young and under cost control for some time. I guess I wouldn't be surprised but if I see them giving him a shot at least.
That doesn't paint a pretty picture for Dempster and places the blame for this debacle squarely on his shoulders. Without really knowing the details there isn't anything that Wren said that doesn't sound plausible. We don't know exactly what Dempster and Theo had agreed to however other than what Wren said which is second hand. Either way, Dempster nixed a trade that would have benefited the Cubs long term and for that he deserves to hear some crap from the fans (and FO). Death threats though? I highly doubt it and that sounds a lot like a player deflecting some of the immediate crap he thinks is coming his way.
We're supposedly getting something else to "offset the money." Somebody (Goldstein?) said that something else would be us sending them cash. Sounds like it's a one-for-one deal - Dempster for Delgado. That was my impression as well.
he was in KG's top 50 before this year, although KG said he wouldn't be in top 50 right now. probably still top 75 though That is a damn good return for Dempster and cash.
I don't care how long it goes as long as they maximize his value. Clearly the Cubs don't want Dempster to start again to risk injury or a bad outing or something else to lower his value. If they want they can just skip his next start. Be patient, get the best prospects possible. That's what I'm hoping for.
