  1. I'll give it a shot: Pacific West Arizona Arizona St California Oregon Oregon Stanford UCLA USC Washington Washington State +*Texas *Texas A&M *Texas Tech *Oklahoma *Colorado *Oklahoma State Big 16 Penn State Ohio State Michigan Michigan State Wisconsin Iowa Illinois Indiana Purdue Northwestern Minnesota +*Nebraska *Syracuse *Rutgers *Notre Dame *Maryland SEC Alabama Arkansas Auburn Florida Georgia Kentucky LSU Mississippi Mississippi State South Carolina Tennessee Vanderbilt +*Florida State *Miami *Clemson *Georgia Tech ACCEast-ish Boston College Duke North Carolina North Carolina State Virginia Virginia Tech Wake Forest +*Pitt *West Virginia *UConn *Cincinnati *Louisville *South Florida *Kansas *Kansas State *Missouri So obviously the last conference is a bit weak compared to the others, but we knew that about the Big East/ACC already. At any rate, there won't be a shortage of schools to make up 4 16 team leagues. Then take the leftovers and let them form 2 more conferences out of the best from the MAC, WAC, Mountain West, Conference USA and see if any quality teams come out of them. 2 teams from each Super Conference move on, then 1 each from the 2 leftover conferences and you have a 10 team tournament with 2 BYEs?
  2. Has it been mentioned before that if Notre Dame finally joins then the Big Ten would have 5 of the top 7 winningest college football programs of all time? Thats crazy, right? I mean somehow get Texas too and you are looking at 6 of 7! I don't expect this to happen, but thats gotta be something Delaney dreams of bragging about.
  3. It's a huge deal in that the Big Ten now has to find a way to put the number 12 in its logo. I'm telling you, after Nebraska, Notre Dame will join along with 1 other school (Missouri, Syracuse, or Rutgers) giving you 14 schools from 10 states = The Big Ten. :D

  5. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/tom_verducci/06/02/joyces.missed.call/index.html?hpt=T2 Sorry Mo, but in this case making arguably the worst call in the history of the sport automatically disqualifies you from being the best.
  6. It would be nice to see this idea somewhat implemented into the college game. I'm tired of seeing the USCs, LSUs, and Floridas get essentially home games for the national championship/BCS game against northern teams. I certainly understand all that goes into it and don't ever expect to ever see a meaningful Bowl or title game played in New York on New Years, but things like Florida never playing above Kentucky is a joke.
  7. April 25: .366 .527 .537 May 25: .257 .417 .404 June 25: any predictions?
  8. I think you can take away some things from that stuff. The part about B10 negotiating with Big East about guiding ND to B10 in exchange for not raiding the rest of the conference makes sense to me.
  9. I remember when my brother, a lifelong Braves fan, sent me the Cubs schedule pre-season talking about how the first half was set up for a good start and expected to get some momentum going. I knew better. Still, what a waste.
  10. Not to mention the most important factor, the super conference's name. This mix of teams would give a total of 16 schools representing 10 different states... It can remain the Big Ten.
  11. As for the power numbers, no kidding, thats why I said 'they bring different things to the table'. But he could certainly match or surpass some of Heyward's #'s, like avg and obp. For the record, I don't think Castro will get more ROY votes then JHey, but thats why I asked if anyone else thought it would be possible. If Castro ends up with a respectable avg, good obp, gg-type defense, and is a league leader in something like triples, stolen bases or something, I could see the media drinking the kool-aid. He plays a premium position, afterall.
  12. Obviously, they bring different things to the table, but it will be interesting to see who has the better rookie campaign from this point. Does anyone want to go on record in ROY predictions, or at least who finishes with more votes? Whats maddening to me is that we could be enjoying having both of these guys right now.
  13. Castro's trade value has never been higher. Nows the time to go make your move, Jim.
  14. I'm amazed we've only got 1 run with those mashers in the middle of our lineup...
  15. WGN on Comcast in PA, any def will do, please.

  20. Ruined? WTF were you watching? Hit mute if you are so easily influenced by announcers. This was one of the greatest games of all time! Ruined!? And I don't remember him ever accusing anyone of faking an injury.. I didn't say it ruined the game I said it ruined it to an extent (well I forgot the an the first time). I say right off the bat it was a great game. I, however, was distracted multiple times by the color guy for all the wrong reasons. As for whomever said they don't remember him saying he faked an injury I will paraphrase what I remember. "He went out acting like his right hand was really hurt. He was holding his left hand over his right hand and looked like he was in a lot of pain. He's back in now just a couple minutes later and acting like nothing is wrong. I think he was just fatigued." Yes, I remember the dialogue... which is so far away from "criticizing" a guy for "faking an injury". How in the world did you get to that conclusion? Elmore clearly thought he hurt his hand, then he thought he was just tired. He never once said anything along the lines of "I think Kelly took himself out of the game (which he was dominating) because he decided that was a clever time to fake an injury".... This isn't football, afterall. No benefit to faking an injury. And to ZERO extent could that game have been ruined by a color guy. Unless Glen Beck took over the job, theres no way at all that you should let anything anyone says ruin a game like that.

  22. This is the kind of article I would love to have more of on, well.. everywhere. Great read, indeed.
  23. Not to rain on the Gus love-fest, but saying "lot of time left" in a 2 possession game with under 10 seconds left is quite strange..
  24. Love how a #1 seed is losing to Butler with 2 min left and I am stuck watcing a game with 11+ min left. Awesome. Edit: FINALLY
