    I really do hope we sign him. Who are other teams that might be aggressive? Adding Maddon and Martin would be an A+ start to FA and would multiply our sexy by about thirty. What FA pitcher wouldn't want to sign up?

    He's gonna have a real hard time if he can't hit a fastball yeah, that's gonna be his problem. Apparently there's something magical about this guys fastball I guess Apparently, I ain't never been no scout before, but apparently when you're a good fastball hitter that apparently means you have to hit every fastball.

    I think when they're all up and everything clicks (fingers crossed) they'll realize they are all a part of something extremely special and are trying to do something which hasn't been done in over a century, and they'll love every [expletive] minute of it. I think because of this they'll be open to signing long term deals. They'll all be comning up through the same system together striving to win the World Series. How many World Series teams have had an abundance of players on their roster that came up through the ranks at the same time to reach the highest stage? If that happens, that would have to feel pretty [expletive] awesome for them, and I think they won't want to play anywhere else, at least not for a long time. But that's just my own daydream speculation. I don't know about all this kumbaya 'win it for friendship and loyalty' BS, but having a completely renovated clubhouse will go a long ways in getting these guys to stick around.

    Imagine if we moved Alcantara, Baez, Bryant, Soler, Russell, Almora, and Schwarber down for the playoffs ;) Yeah and Rizzo and Arrieta too!

    I was really just going with guys in our system. I realize its not going to happen, but its more fun putting him there as a 5th OF than just writing "random FA sign or trade"... I basically put a whole lot of extra filler in there when my point was essentially that I hope everything breaks well enough that Contra and Schwarbs can be super utility guys for a couple seasons. And poor choice of word of "floor" on my part, guess I meant "my twisted idea of their floor", which I would qualify as 'Major League average for at least 2 seasons'.

    What difference could it possibly make? well they need a 1B if Rizzo shatters his leg and never plays again If that were to happen, they move Bryant to 1st- at least in the long term. In the short term, they aren't concerned about winning games this year so they could just put Junior Lake there for all the difference it would make. Actually, I bet if that were to happen - long term - we'd move Schwarber there.

    No, probably LF, but the reports of him catching so far have been pretty good. That's Bryant. If everyone becomes some semblance of what they can be (except Schwarber becoming a C) and nobody is traded, I could see Schwarber ending up as that DH, if it ever happens. In that ^ idealistic scenario, I'm not sure if Almora or Alcantara ends up your CF. But Bryant and Soler are definitely in the corners of the OF in said scenario. My idealistic scenario with our guys reaching at least their floors C Castillo (good version) 1B Rizzo 2B Castro 3B Baez SS Russell LF Soler CF Almora RF Bryant CF/2B/SS/3B Contra C/LF/RF/DH/1B Schwarber OF McKinney OF Sczuzr INF Bruno Contra and Schwarber still get plenty of ABs spot starting when guys need a day off or the matchup is right. I think one of Almora or McKinney gets moved (or both if we get R.Castillo) but whatever, this is my All-Prospect dream lineup, so don't harsh my buzz, man.

    I'd be willing to bet those responses are more a result of just being uncomfortable on camera and people trying to look like they know what they're talking about, regardless of fanbase.

    Soler will be making half of what Rizzo makes next year, might as well bring him up and allow him to begin destroying opposing pitchers now, IMO.
