  1. All I was saying was it's a hard play to tell some kids that the player didn't catch it. I never said the kids would hate football now, or be traumatized or anything, just that it's a stupid rule. That's it. Don't be a douche.
  2. You know, I love football, and especially the NFL. But try watching a finish like that with a couple young kids who are just starting to fall in love with the sport. 9 and 11 years old, they watch that catch and get excited for seeing such an amazing catch... only to see the refs say that, in fact, it was not caught. Telling these 2 young boys that "well, there is a rule that says he didn't actually catch it" doesn't fly. They feel robbed, and they've got no ties to Detroit. What a shame. Stupid rule.
  3. Where are you using that quote from, because it's not in the article you linked.
  4. Is it wrong to think Crawford is better? Of course not. I'd take Crawford over Fukudome too. But the Cubs, as currently constructed, are a 60-80 team. Why would they trade one of their best players -- likely for pennies on the dollar -- and then likely overpay for a relatively marginal upgrade? If you want Crawford, trade Byrd. In my imaginary scenario, we wouldn't trade Fukudome for "pennies on the dollar", especially since baseball people know he's got value. And I like Byrd and the rest of his contract. In fact, I would rank em: 1. CF Byrd + RF Crawford (for 2 years, at least) 2. CF Crawford + RF Fukudome (for 1 year) But that's just me. :-s
  5. I guess my point is that Boise and TCU can only schedule the teams that will play them. Telling them to go out and "schedule harder teams" is pretty disingenuous. Harder teams need to be willing to play them to improve the SOS. I'm not telling Boise St who to schedule, rather saying it's my opinion they should beef up their OCC all around to gain more respect. I'm not saying they should play Va Tech, Penn State, Texas, and Florida, but they could probably get those Wake Forest, Kansas St types. And over the past couple years and into next they have had Washington, Oregon, Va Tech, Oregon St, and Ole Miss. I find it hard to believe they couldn't get 1 or 2 more competitive BCS team per year to play.
  6. Is it wrong to think Crawford is better?
  7. why? Because Joe sent Johnson out after a 50 minute rain delay to pitch causing him to have Tommy John surgery. Thus ending his career. The End.
  8. What I wouldn't mind seeing happen.... Step 1: Sign Freddi. Step 2: Sign Adam Dunn. Step 3: Trade Fukudome. Step 4: Acquire Carl Crawford. Step 5: Pencil in: SS Castro RF Crawford CF Byrd 1B Dunn 3B Ramirez C Soto LF Soriano/Colvin 2B Dewitt/Baker Step 6: Improve the pitching when possible. Worst case: Demp, Z, Gorz, Wells, Silva should/could be solid enough to start the year, look to trade during season. Better case: Smart FA sign or trade. Best case: 1 or 2 young arms develop dramatically and claim spots. Step 7: Lose in the first round of playoffs.
  9. I don't like you.
  10. I say if Boise St or TCU want to compete for a BCS title, then their OOC games need to be all BCS schools. They don't have to be world-beaters, just middle of the pack BCS schools who are up to the challenge. Va Tech and Oregon St is nice, but Wyoming and Toledo? C'mon. -Va Tech -Ok St -Oregon St -Michigan St Get through something like that undefeated, and you may have my respect. (I understand scheduling is done years in advance and money issues are large, but if Boise St or TCU want to be taken seriously, then find a way to play more than 1 and a half teams all year.)
  11. Looks like you want Auburn to never lose a conference game again. And I hate you for wasting my time with this.
  12. ..after playing Alabama and Iowa in the front half of the schedule..
  13. Hmmm, I guess they did want people to know. P.S. this team has a lot more talent then being given credit for. There is a pretty sizable chip on their shoulder and feel they have a lot of people to prove wrong. Should be a fun year.
  14. You are scared of names? Really? Like, which ones?
  15. So... the Red division is clearly taking it from the Blue division, I'm not the only one who sees this, right? A sign of things to come, ya think?
  16. I'd be surprised if they made the determination already to have these divisions be used for basketball. Really surprised, actually. Confirming my earlier post. Congratulations Tom Izzo. Sit back and watch Wisc, OSU, Purdue, and Ill fight it out year after year. Uncongratulations Penn State basketball fans. I thought it couldn't get any worse.
  17. Penn State is running a true freshman 1st string QB. Shhhh.... they don't want anyone to know.
  18. Hey, Sean Gallagher is pitching at Wrigley. :good:
  19. All because of a foul ball/hbp? Pretty embarrassing.
  20. I didn't make the original post, just confused as to why a thread about Fukudome playing well gets a response about Colvin being not as good. Hey, Brett Jackson isn't as good as Fukudome either, let's talk about that!
  21. That's great, considering he makes $11.6 million more than him, I'd hope he's better than him at this stage. Is there a point you were making, or...?
  22. I think you've got awesome RB depth. Mendenhall and Grant will both get around 20 carries a game, something that's rare these days. I'm not a believer in Sims-Walker, so I'd look to flip him and a QB for a WR upgrade.
  23. Man, just imagine how good we'd be if we had just swung that Peavy trade..
  24. This is such drivel.
  25. Yeah, I think so. Smith will likely be added to the 40-man this offseason. The problem is he really can't play anywhere besides 3B. Yeah, too bad we've got such a consistently healthy third baseman who is never in trade discussions. What's he average like 160 games a year or something? We probably won't need another 3B for years and years. :D
