  1. Take it from a Penn State fan- if McCoy stays healthy, he will become one of the top 3 RB's in the NFL in 3 years.

  3. You rule dew. I understand why people would like Cushing, and but I just don't see it. Maybe its because I am an east coast guy and I've dealt with the Cushing hype since he was in high school, or knowing that he will eventually be too slow to play OLB, and not enough juice in the world will make him an elite DE. He is a system guy, and I don't see him fitting in with Buffalo.
  4. So even though I'm here now and the next pick hasn't been made, you can't change it to reflect the pick I would make?
  5. The Cushing pick is fair, not one I would have made though. If I could change it, I'd take Tyson Jackson. He is the type of DE that could come right in and play from Day 1. Cushing won't be a very good pro, IMO. Sorry guys, we all really did lose power last night and into the morning, and work was pretty busy yesterday during the day.
  6. I guess my town picked a really crappy time to lose power...
  7. It all depends on the "old time" baseball player is. If Griffey played for the Braves and they played in Pittsburgh during a time I was around there looking for something to do, hell yes I would probably go to the game with the focus being to see The Kid live.
  8. Ryne Sandberg averaged 15.5 homeruns a season for his first full 7 seasons, then entering his 30's, hit 30, 40 (!!!), 26 and 26 a year. THEN he started to breakdown and hit just 14 over the next two years before retiring, possibly to dodge drug-use suspicions.. Realizing that steroid testing was over a decade away, he came back and hit another 25 dingers. AND he most certainly put on 25+ lbs from his rookie season to his last season. I don't have baseball card links to point to head size, but it seems pretty cut and dry to me- Sandberg must now be lumped into the "hmm, maybe he did do it, should we take him out of the HOF" crowd.
  9. Why do I get the feeling that most on here want Nomar on the team so that they can wear their t-shirt jerseys again and not feel like they wasted their money the first time around?
  10. This will be my first Mock Draft participation... what time of the day do we expect this to start? Will this be like a fantasy-style draft, where it begins and concludes in the same night, or will it cover a couple days?
  11. yeah they have three auto-losses (@mich st, @purdue, @illinois) and only one auto-win left (vs indiana). "auto-losses"? Jamelle Cornley does not have that term in his dictionary. I bet you they take at least 1 of them, maybe even 2. Starting with Michigan St. /pats self on back

  13. I'll take the Bills. This matters little, but a good friend of mine was Trent Edwards' roommate at Stanford.
  14. With Terrelle Pryor as the QB full-time next year, Hartline may not get many opportunities to catch footballs. This may be the highest his stock will be. That and the kid already has his degree. I'm sure a lot of us would choose to play another year, but I can never question a kid who has already graduated to test the professional waters. And, like you say, his stock won't go higher. In related news (in only that he send more players to the NFL draft than nearly any other position coach), Larry Johnson, Sr. decides to stay put at Penn State over an offer to be Defensive Coordinator at Illinois. Sucks to be Illinois. You offer a guy more money and responsibility but he turns you down to man the same position he has for the past 13 years. Maybe Joe ponied up and promised him the keys in a year or two. Say what you will about the old man, but he has some kind of Jedi mind tricks he uses to keep coaches around. Seriously though, is there a more successful position coach in America?
  15. you can add (extremely unlikely) after maybin's name too I think Maybin will end up going lower than Orakpo and Brown and I can't see 3 DEs going top 10 (which is my abritrary definition of extremely unlikely, apparently). Maybin will be an OLB in a 3-4, at least initially. Even he knows that, but his evaluation came back with a 1st round grade. Unless you like your DE's at 240lbs. He will surely impress with his speed at the workouts, but he has a really hard time putting on weight. I actually think he could slip to late 1st round, early 2nd, since 3-4 defenses are in the minority. But someone like Cleveland or Baltimore might trade up to take him in the teens.
  16. Ha, I know. But like I said in it, I probably wrote too much. Especially since I submitted it from a University issued computer. During these economical times, I'd feel really stupid losing my job for having loose lips on a message board, afterall.
  17. Bet you #7 for PSU doesn't get drafted, PCP.
  18. maybin says he's coming back; let's hope he sticks to that. he'd probably go top 10 if he comes out. i could see williams working his way up into round 3 because he'll probably show well at the combine. I could see D-Will even going in Round 2. I also think Butler and Scirrotto could go in later rounds. Norwood is small and will go undrafted, IMO. AQ Shipley could be a first rounder. You are high if you think Scirrotto gets drafted in anything other than baseball or military. NFL coaches expect their safeties to cover wideouts, afterall. Also Truffle, please link to anywhere Maybin said he is returning. Everything I hear is that he has his evaluation and he is weighing the decision. Typically, when a player is "torn" on the decision, it means he is going to enter. He has become very close with LaVar over this past season, and LaVar has been telling him to take the money. Expect him to go (the staff does, you should too). Jared Odrick will most likely return, but right now, expect Maurice Evans to enter, even if he's told he is a 3rd-4th rounder. He wants out, and staff doesn't really care too badly if he leaves. The real Defensive Line problem PSU will have is replacing Larry Johnson, Sr. if/when he leaves for Illinois' DC job. Talk about the balance shifting from one program to another... Shipley will be a round 3 guy, centers just don't go that high anymore (unless a team takes him to make into a guard). Ohrnberger will get picked too, and hopefully Tony Davis. Talk about a kid that you should be happy to root for. All-around class act, I'm pleased to have gotten to know him. Kevin Kelly has made himself into an NFL kicker, whether or not a team uses a pick on him is another story. But Robbie Gould won't be the only PSU alum in the League for long.
  19. Well it's so nice that you let us all know hiow much you don't care about my posts. That was very necessary. Do you realize you average nearly 20 posts a day? My parent's vodka when I was a teenager was less watered down.
  20. So what? He clearly said "Ravens" not "Colts". You do know those are two different teams?
  21. So glad I don't read any of Dexter's posts anymore. That one looks like another big waste of time.
  22. The most important thing you guys are overlooking is Joe Paterno's pride. You won't ever see him accept a transfer from a kid who spurned him during recruitment, especially one so dramatic as Hazelton's. Never happen.
  23. Not sure when that will be. I hear Cowher's and (from extremely back channel whispers) Saban's names associated with that job when it opens. I don't see either of those being a 3-5 year job. Well... Saban, maybe. Cowher would be the dream, but Paterno will more or less demand that Tom Bradley gets the promotion when he steps down. That said, I see no reason that Penn State won't be like any other school in terms of coaches in the future. Paterno is a complete anomaly in the modern coaching world (along with Bowden) in that they've survived some poor seasons due to their reputation and long-standing contributions. If any other coach had posted losing seasons in 4 out of 5 years (like PSU did in the late 90's/early 00's) they would have been canned for sure. A new PSU coach won't have all the rope Paterno has had Actually, we are always quite good in the late 90's. 1999 we were #1, then choked down the stretch. We were bad 2000, 01, 03, and 04. Cowher will be back in the NFL before he ever coaches college. If you want to predict a NFL coach to take over PSU, may I suggest Tony Dungy? You heard this here first, I'm sure...
  24. The bad part is that there isn't much in the way of top QBs uncommitted right now. Devlin picked a horrible time to decide to transfer as most all of the good QBs are mostly locked up. If JoPa wants one in this class, he'll likely have to steal one away from another team. which he may be able to do, since they won't be buried in the depth chart for 2 years anymore Don't know if I agree with this, the top two QBs left on PSU's board are Newsome and Boyd, and both are uncommitted (although they lead the country in previous commitments...). Not saying we land either of them, but you'd have to assume one is a possibility. I work in the PSU A.D. and I have some contacts who are convinced that Newsome will announce for PSU at the Army game because he's already told staff as much. TFWIW.
