  1. Wow, two massive checks by Barker and a breakaway by Buff. Wow. And we get a cross-check call in the offensive zone...go figure.
  2. Sharp sniped one from the top of the circle off a nice pass from Kane. EDIT: Actually I think it was Toews on the pass.
  3. Wow, Huet got really lucky there...
  4. Five Blackhawks seems like a ton to me. I could almost see Toews or Keith being snubbed unfairly. If I have to choose, Keith goes before Toews. And it's not even close. I really don't think Campbell has been all that great, but I think he'll make it.
  5. In the futures game, probably.
  6. Let's talk Hawks All-Stars... Kane, Campbell and Toews are probably fan voting locks. Keith and Sharp are locks. Anyone else? Khabi?
  7. Tonight's game is on NHL Network, for those outside the Chicago area who don't have Center Ice.
  8. These guys are good. Wow. What a great all-around game. Six straight!
  9. There are reasons the NHL isn't more popular, but that has *nothing* to do with it. Yeah I really don't think a few goons give the NHL a bad name. There are just too many people who aren't exposed to the sport when they are young and then decide that they "hate" it and won't give it a chance. I agree that the TV contract is bad. Going back to ESPN would give the league back a lot of cred. It seemed like ESPN and ESPN2 had games on 4-5 times/week in the mid-to-late 90s. That was awesome. The league is fine in places where it should be. Those Sun Belt teams can rot as far as I'm concerned. Move those teams to Winnipeg, Quebec, Hamilton, perhaps Seattle. Contract a few teams. That would be a good start. When I watch random games on Center Ice, I will watch the Canadian teams first every time.
  10. Does Vancouver play tonight? Who knows what Sundin will do in his debut? Canucks are gonna most likely come out with some extra energy if it's his debut. Article I read this morning said Sundin is still in Sweden and won't join the team until sometime in January.
  11. I'd say Philly.
  12. Obviously I'd like to see two wins, but I think their better chance is tomorrow. Vancouver doesn't have that guy that can take a game over. I mean, with Luongo out.
  13. Avery just takes it too far. I love the agitators. Claude Lemeiux, for one. There is a profile on him in either the new SI or ESPN Mag this week. Can't remember which one I read it in last night. Anyway, these guys have a place in the game. Even the post-lockout clutching-and-grabbing-free game. But like I said, I don't think Avery should be their poster boy.
  14. As I mentioned earlier, I'm playing Schaub over Eli. I think he's gonna go off, and the way Andre Johnson is playing, both could have a huge game.
  15. I watched bits and pieces of about seven games last night. My impressions from around the league are: 1) The Blues are severely undermanned and a scrappy bunch, but they are pretty fun to watch. There was a questionable hit by Backes on Semin last night that I thought was going to send that game into a full-out brawl. Great hitting for about a five-minute stretch. 2) Michael Ryder is good. That goal he scored last night where he just smoked the Toronto D-men was ridiculous. I would love to see Boston come out of the East. 3) San Jose. HAHA! I'm really enjoying this season, though mostly because the Hawks are playing so well. Center Ice was a good investment.
  16. This game is gonna be really cool. I just hope there are some actual Hawks fans in the seats. And I hope NBC shows the anthem. I'm sure they will. It would be even better if they let Messmer sing. I know there was some sort of old grudge there, but given his connection to the Cubs and McDonough, I think it could happen.
  17. Step right up and get anything you can possibly imagine to commemorate this game! http://shop.nhl.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=3360678&view=all Not that I blame the NHL. I just think the gloves and pint glasses are a bit silly. I'll probably buy a t-shirt though. I need a new Hawks shirt anyway.
  18. I've always been suspicious of Warner, even though he's obviously been a horse this year. I'd go with Cassel at home. I'd also go with Foster. The Rams defense is gutless against the run. gracias No problem. I still need convincing that I should play Lance Moore over Edwards. I paid to pick the guy up. In my league after 10 FA pickups you have to pay in $6 for each move. Cash goes to the winner. So I might get it back. But still. Since I paid for that mofo he has turned in two crappy weeks.
  19. I've always been suspicious of Warner, even though he's obviously been a horse this year. I'd go with Cassel at home. I'd also go with Foster. The Rams defense is gutless against the run.
  20. Slaton Lynch Pierre Don't bench Westbrook, ever. If it's a PPR league, you should be ashamed for even thinking about benching him. Don't be fooled by the Monday night game. That was a case of the Eagles taking it easy on him vs. a team they knew they could beat. Two division games for their playoff lives left, Westbrook will get the ball a ton. Also, Westbrook has had great numbers vs. the Skins in his career. Westbrook Slaton Can't go wrong w/ Lynch or Thomas. I think all 4 have big games. I agree. Between Lynch and Thomas though, I'd go with Thomas. They're playing Detroit and he's getting the ball a lot. Weather won't be a factor either.
  21. I was a little put off by Sandberg's presumptuousness after his first year at Peoria, as though one season = "paying his dues" = should be at least a coach with the big club. I have a feeling things are eventually going to sour when they decide he's never going to make the majors. And I think that's what will happen, because I don't think he has the temperament to be a good manager.
  22. That is a pretty cool statistic I should say regulation losses. We have a crapload of OTLs. That makes it less cool. yeah, but that number doesn't hurt us nearly as much as regulation losses True, but those seven OTLs are tough. If they had won even three of those in OT/SO, they would be two points behind Detroit right now with one game in hand. Woulda coulda...
  23. That would be amazing. Then 5 days off before the next home game. I know some of you are going to the Dec. 26th game against Philly. I'm so jealous. I'm gonna be up there, but can't go. Stupid family.
