  1. I agree with you on Soto and that is why I traded him this offseason. I would go with Hamels and Phillips. That was my feeling as well. Before last season my keepers were Hamels, Tex, Vlad and Phillips. Vlad is on the decline and I like replacing him with Longoria. I have some pause about keeping Hamels over Price though. Hamels is good for Ks, but the rest of his stats aren't eye-popping. We haven't had a limit on the number of years a player can be kept until this year. Starting this year, it's three seasons. Not that it matters, but I think two years from now I'll wish I had Price.
  2. More details from NHL.com about the game: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=400829 No Messmer for the anthems.
  3. Don't get this. Aren't the Dolphins one of the most popular NFL franchises? No, there aren't a lot of people that care about the Dolphins just because they're the Dolphins, and neither of those two teams has a headliner (no, Ronnie Brown and Ted Ginn are not headliners) to grab national attention. Arizona would probably work in much the same way, except that Arizona is the eternal underdog, so that angle would at least be interesting. It seems to me Miami had a national following several years ago. I know several people who are Dolphin fans without any geographical or family reason for being such. I always thought it was just about Marino though.
  4. Cub fan, and Wings fan, all in one brain? That is unpossible sir. Yeah, seriously. That's probably ban-able. What I want tonight is to hear another road crowd booing their team after every period when they get completely dominated. I know I should expect a tight game, but we are catching Detroit at the right time.
  5. I'm ready for baseball now. I need to choose four keepers in a standard 5x5 roto league. Hamels, Longoria, Tex, David Price, GEOVANYSOTO, Brandon Phillips and Vlad are my reasonable options. Longoria and Tex are locks. Who else would you choose? And btw, as much as I love Geo, I don't think I'll keep him. The idea is to keep as many guys who would be top-40 draft picks (10-team league), and I know he wouldn't be.
  6. Tillman would be in the middle of a lot more plays as a safety to help create turnovers, which he has always done really well. What do you guys think? Interesting idea and one I like mainly because I think Tillman is greatly overrated as a cornerback. His cover skills just arent very good. Agreed. He got smoked all season long. I'm in favor of this, and I don't even think we need a so-called "lockdown" corner to replace him. Just somebody better than him.
  7. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=400475&navid=DL|NHL|home This article makes it sound like McDonough wants to do a celebrity "stretch" during the short intermission at the 10:00 mark of the 3rd. And it also suggests, without saying it, that Cornelison will sing the anthem. I agree it would be awesome if Messmer did it, but I won't be surprised if he doesn't.
  8. There aren't any Detroit fans til the 2nd round of the playoffs ;) Wait a minute...actually there is some truth to this...of course there was no thing as a Blackhawk fan until this year No, there were. They were just napping. For 10 years. What else can be said that I haven't said after every game for the last month? These guys are really good and they know it. Everyone was carping about the lack of production from Buff. But through 32 games he has 9 goals. He's on pace for 23. That's outstanding. And I have to again mention the effort we seem to get every night from Andrew Ladd. He made some excellent plays on the backcheck that turned the play right around and kept the puck from getting anywhere near Huet. I don't think he scored tonight, but he's playing the kind of hockey we're gonna need come late April. I'm gonna miss the game Tuesday night unless I can get a stream while sitting at an airport in Colorado. Bummer.
  9. Wow, congrats man. What an effort so far. But 20 minutes through and we don't have any pretty goals yet? WTF guys! Pick it up!
  10. Ballgame. Is anyone really surprised it ended this way? I mean, really? Babich needs to go. Sign Cassel. Coach up the D. Oakland won. LOL
  11. Nice job Robbie.
  12. And a two-point conversion? Or another OT win?
  13. Well [expletive].
  14. 19-6-7 Yeah great Chicago can boast of 33 games of good hockey. Maybe we can make the playoffs for the first time in 7 years Don't really care about the Blackhawks, like millions of others in my generation who grew up in Chicago. Thanks Bill Weurtz. Moron. The old man is dead. Give 'em a chance.
  15. That goober isn't hurt!
  16. Yeah with such an accurate passer and stud receivers and all...
  17. Holy Earl Bennett!
  18. F*** these guys. It's officially hockey season.
  19. yeah, it doesn't look like they can see and it looks like it wasn't coming out...I'll have a hard time being upset if we don't get it. I know. We just need a break.

  21. In all the replays they've shown you can't see the ball to know if it's out. Inconclusive dammit!
  22. Wow, shocking. Steltz and Manning get smoked by a TE.
