  1. Well, my "bet" was only against Margarito outpointing Sugar Shane. Any other result and I won. I was off on my prediction, obviously, but won anyway.
  2. I won't take that bet. :) Are they even playing anthems tonight though? I thought they would be right there with all the guys lined up, but then they went to commercial.
  3. I was just about to post that. Who was that lady with the dude's voice?
  4. This "red carpet" show on NHL Network is pretty cool. Ovie's English still needs some work though.
  5. I'm going with Margarito to stop Mosley tonight.
  6. I'm fine with the WC jersey being used as the third. I've never thought there was anything special or original about the black. Never liked them. The Blues have a great looking third jersey. It's quite a bit different than their normal unis and pretty sharp.
  7. Killing this off would be a huge boost and really get the crowd into it.
  8. The internet at my hotel isn't fast enough to support the video stream, but I've got KMOX radio on. Kelly Chase is shocked that Barker even got a penalty on that hit. Not that I should be surprised at Chaser's opinion on the matter. :)
  9. When you're saying "yuck" to a 5-5-1 stretch that's a pretty good sign.... especially with a young team. We all knew they'd go through rough patches. If this ends up being the worst of it that would be really really good Exactly... if this is "YUCK" then I have nothing to complain about... other than the officiating. I know, but I really hope this isn't what we're going to get the rest of the year. 5-5-1 is a point per game average. 36 points the rest of the way would get us 94 points. That's probably good enough to get in the playoffs, but not good enough to hold the #4 seed. It's probably just the Cub fan in me, but I'm going to be worried until they clinch a spot.
  10. You can't fall behind to that team if you expect to have a chance to win or to keep your fans watching. Ugh. I skipped most of the second period to watch 24. Glad I did. Sucks I'm gonna miss Wednesday night's game on account of work travel, so it'll be over a week without Hawks hockey. But I'm glad the break is coming now. Give the young guys a chance to take a breather. Let Kane's ankle and Dunc's head heal. Before tonight's game the Hawks had the 4th seed by I think 7 points with FOUR games in hand on the two closest teams. Q should be able to keep these guys focused enough to not cough up that lead.
  11. I'll take it. Let's rack up four more points in the next two games before the break! Doesn't 62 points at the ASB have a nice ring to it?
  12. That will be his legacy unless he can recreate himself as a top of the line closer. For one game he was. I think he's always going to be remembered as a fan favorite, but not a great. Those other guys you listed (even Sanburg) have their numbers retired. Obviously that wouldn't be justified in KW's case.
  13. Obviously credit is due Huet for the way he's been playing lately. But I'm also impressed with the "fire" he has shown over the last week. Against Buffalo and last night guys got in his face and he got up and gave it right back to them. And speaking of goalies, an odd postscript from last night. After the Blues goal, a section up in the upper level started chanting "BELFOUR!" I can't decide if it was funny or not.
  14. Well, that was interesting. The Blues fans were going absolutely insane at all the missed opportunities they had. And I can't blame them. It should've been a 5-1 game or so for St. Louis, no question. D looked slow, passing in the offensive zone wasn't crisp. And the Hawks "put everything on net" mentality led to a TON of blocked shots. Either way, obviously it was a fun game to be at due to the outcome, but any other team in the league and this would've been a blowout.
  15. Maybe Sharpie just wanted to practice his scrapping skills. :) We say this more often than not now, but this is a game tonight the Hawks should win. Tomorrow too.
  16. Lucky! I'm starting my Paramedic class tomorrow night and will miss every Tuesday/Thursday game from here til the playoffs... which really really sucks. Well, that's only 8 games the rest of the year. Not too bad. But here's the real odd thing. The Hawks have a home game on all five Sundays in March. That's going to be the month for the Hawks to really kick it into high gear. 11 home games, 4 on the road. But they do play San Jose and Boston.
  17. Yeah I cleared my schedule and planned anything I have to do for tomorrow night when they are off. Tonight, Friday night and then I get to see the Hawks in person for the first time this year on Saturday night! You're gonna get tired of hearing me talk about it...I'm really excited already...
  18. Neat little piece and some national pub for the Hawks: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=drehs_wayne&page=numberone-090113 Also, something of a contradiction here: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/hockey/blackhawks/chi-14-blackhawks-bitsjan14,0,27977.story Kane's ankle is still in pain, but he's participating in the skills competition. :?
  19. I'm surprised nothing happened with this, was there even a fight last night? Nope... not even really any scrums. Some awesome hits, though. It seemed like all the great hits were in a 2 minute stretch in (I think) the 2nd period. Two good shifts of solid, physical play. Overall it was a pretty clean game though. Surprising for the second of a home-and-home. But it was a tight game. No time for too much foolishness.
  20. This is me jealous. But I am going to be at the game here on Saturday. And to top it off, the wife (that's going to take some getting used to) got me a pretty sweet wedding gift: an authentic Bobby Hull home sweater. Even has the "A" on the front and the "fight strap" on the back. So I'll be sporting that one Saturday night. \:D/
  21. It wasn't pretty, but it counts the same in the standings. Nice win.
  22. You didn't see yesterday's game either, though. Kane had a nice run made on him and got drilled another time (completely clean). None of his teammates want to stick up for him... so you gotta take matters into your own hands. I wasn't the biggest guy on the ice in high school, but I knew my teammates had my back. I know he's not the biggest guy, but I guess what irks me is that he takes a perfectly clean hit right at the end of the period, and gives the guy a jab in the back of the head. Okay fine, I guess that's no big deal. The guy responds and he backs off. I'm not saying he needs to drop the gloves, but if he showed a bit more heart in there perhaps his teammates would be more willing to stir it up on his behalf.
  23. Kane being a pansy again...I hate to say it, but I'm kind of starting not to like him. He takes a shot at the guy and then backs away and wants nothing of it.
  24. They've had a bunch of point-blank chances, but it seems like they are doing a lot of reacting in the defensive zone instead of anticipating. Still, not a bad period.
  25. There's been about 7 hits for the Hawks in the last minute. Love it.
