  1. Levine just reported that the deal will involve Pie, Cedeno, and Marshall or Mitch Atkins
  2. That is scary. A 16 game winner as your 5th starter. Actually my rotation would be 1. Peavy 2. Zambrano 3. Dempster 4. Lilly 5. Harden. Until Harden proves he can stay healthy and can go every turn, you should send him down to the 5th spot and rest him from time to time. The Cubs could possibly win over 100 games with that. The other teams in the Central have to be Howrying their pants if this deal goes down. The problem is, who is going to show up to hit the FREAKING ball in the post season. An as-of-now-undetermined lefty bat of consequence? Let just say if the Cubs get Peavy. :beg: Take the money they were going to spend on Dempster and sign Raul Ibanez to play right. Platoon Fukie and Reed in CF. Sign Woody back as the closer. Pick up another decent arm for the bullpen. Pick up another utility infielder. Marquis, Hill, or Veal is your 5th starter. They are set, don't ya think? Sounds fine to me
  3. Right, but what is supposed to say? That he's perfectly content to take a below-market contract to stay in Chicago? That would ruin any leverage he has with the Cubs or another team. I have a pretty good feeling that Dempster will be back in Chicago next year, but agree that I don't want it to limit our ability to get Peavy or a RF. yeah definitely agree with you
  4. Not sure there's anything to back that statement up. Where have you heard that Dempster is a "priority" as opposed to Peavy via trade or any other FA pitcher? I would take Peavy or Lowe over Dempster any day. I don't think the Cubs are putting all of their eggs in the Dempster basket by any means. But maybe you've read or seen something I haven't. In which case, please share. I don't have the time to find all the relevant articles, but Jim Hendry has made it abundantly clear that his priorities this off-season are re-signing Dempster and Wood. yeah, but Dempster has made it pretty clear that he plans to test the market and doesn't plan on signing anytime soon Which means, if the Cubs do acquire Peavy it would allow them to either be patient with Dempster in free agency or allow the Cubs to thank Dempster for his contributions and move on to other priorities, which I hope they do. Agreed, but I don't think they can obtain both of them or will because of the need of the left handed bat

  6. Ask the 2004 Red Sox if they've heard of Mark Bellhorn. I do agree with that statement, but Bellhorn didnt put up near the numbers Ludwick did
  7. thought this was kinda of upsetting...almost making it sound like they won't sign Demp or Trade for Peavy. To me it sounds like Hendry has a continguency plan IN CASE they don't re-sign Demp or trade for Peavy. It doesn't read they won't, just that they have a plan in place in case neither happens. Yeah true, but still that contingency plan scares me. I dont want a rotation of Z, Harden, Lily, Marshall, Samarazija Before getting scared about what the potential rotation looks like, let's see if Hendry "gets his man." Ha lets hope
  8. Just a thought would be a nice 5 hitter, but I'd rather have a left handed bat. Could be kind of easy to obtain though. 1: He reeks of Mark Bellhorn. One unexpectedly good yr, never to hear from again. 2: Cards won't trade him to the Cubs unless they get the Cubs to overpay for him. 3: I prefer Hermida, as do many on this board. As I said so do I just thought I'd post it

  12. I figured after losing to two of the worst teams in the NFL by a total of 4 points there no way. Or at least I'm hoping.
  13. Sign me up with that sinker at Wrigley.
  14. I've been complaining about that since the Coaches Poll's came out. Also How does Duke get 5th when they had almost a completely same year as Purdue did last year and have nearly the same team?
  15. I think there defense is just to good. There about even offensively, but there defense has just shut down just about everyone this year and I've got bad feelings about our O-Line against D-Line. When Haynesworth plays they just dominate.
  16. Thank you I'd say there around 10th with Purdue. They both had very similar seasons. I don't understand the 5 ranking
  17. One of those beasts actually make the elite 8 this year? Why is it ok to use sample size and crapshoot in relation to MLB playoffs but not the NCAA tournament? No worries though, you guys need someone to throw things at now that Eric Gordon isn't in college anymore. I realize it is sample sizes, just think it is odd that you guys haven't done better as a conference in the tourny lately as you have been by far the best conference. I guess that is cause UConn and the Cuse, two very good programs have been down a bit for them lately. Anything can happen in the Tourney thats the thing....Plus what they haven't won in 3 years? The conference is still very good as a whole KU Florida Florida UNC so four. But, your point remains. That's all I'm saying...Was Kansas necessarily the most talented team in the nation....They were one of the best, but maybe not the best...The Tournament does crazy things. I would say KU was right there. Florida the second year was. UNC was everyones pick to win it the year they won as well. Yeah, but last Florida was crazy that happened. A team wining twice in a row hadn't happen in a very long time. But agree that KU was there and UNC is always picked to win

  22. The Clippers sure could have used Elton Brand yesterday. Ha tell me about it
  23. Well that last part is the first good step this team as taken in the last 5 years. I'm not surprised
  24. How bad are the Clippers? How Amazing are the Lakers?
  25. Rose looked real good to me. I know the numbers were amazing, but it was his first game and it was the little things he did that caught my eye
