  1. Agreed....As for Thomas I have to see it to believe it...I'm still bitter that we took him over Aldridge who's playing great for Portland.
  2. Dunn is overrated. There's alot of people who consider him to be just a small step behind Pujols as an elite hitter, when he's not even close. He's regarded as comparable in value to players like Berkman, Utley, H Ramirez, Chipper Jones, etc. Some people seem to think of him as highly as Manny (not many, but a few) as a hitter, and he's not even close. Yeah, there are also people that think Derrek Lee is still an elite hitter and that Jasom Bartlett was te MVP of the Rays this season. It's your fault for paying attention to such people. Seriously, anybody who is even moderately knowledgable about baseball doesn't make those comparisons. I don't know where you're getting them. Anyways, I don't really see how Dunn is overrated at all. I never here people rave about him. I never hear ESPN talk aobut how much money he's going to make this offseason. When he was traded to the Diamondbacks you barely hard anything about it outside of Arizona. If anything, I think he's underrated. I much moreoften hear the "he hits for too low of an average" stuff than I hear "he's an elite hitter" type stuff. I somewhat agree with both of you if that makes any sense at all. Dunn is a great power hitter and has a great OBP because he walks a ton. However I don't see how he improves this team all that much. Ok first scenario you throw him out in RF first off he god awful in the field and has no arm. Secondly he has power and does draw walks, but it's those two or bust. So is really going to help striking out with runners on? He would be a great addition to the team, but I don't think he really puts us over the edge. We'd just hit more home runs and get more walks, but in the situation when we need a hit and for him just to put into play that's where we need someone who's going to get the big hit.
  3. So you make a comment like that and then disappear?
  4. If they ever traded Lee for a .600 ops infielder, thats it, Im done. If it allowed them to get Teixiera, I'd be down. That's all I was saying!!!!! That makes no sense though. It's not like Figgins is the only option available. Even if you want to dump Lee to simply free up salary to get Teixeira, you should still get something better than Figgins in return. Figgins put up an OPS .005 points higher than Ronny Cedeno and earned $4.75 million for his efforts. On top of that, where are you going to play him? CF? He's sure as hell not going to play third over Ramirez or second over DeRosa or Fontenot for that matter. You're better off dealing Lee for some prospects, letting Pie play center, and signing Teixeira. You'd save more money that way for improvements in other areas. Ok like I said I just was throwing it out there

  6. Never mind I guess forget I suggested it
  7. Why? because Chone Figgins is not particularly good at playing baseball Year Ag Tm Lg G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO BA OBP SLG *OPS+ TB SH SF IBB HBP GDP 2008 30 LAA AL 116 453 72 125 14 1 1 22 34 13 62 80 .276 .367 .318 84 144 2 0 3 3 7 I'd take those numbers as a 2 hitter in our line-up...you guys have to remember were probably not going to get anything to spectacular for D-Lee and his huge contract
  8. Why? you get a guy with speed and who's a switch hitter at the top of the lineup making it able to bat him 1 or 2. Also if you read the rest of my post I said if we signed Tex first which ad another switch hitter in the line-up, but a better power hitter. Your telling me if we made those two moves you wouldn't want a Theriot Figgins playing 2nd Soriano Texeria Ramirez Soto Derosa playing RF Fukudome playing CF and this by only give up Lee?
  9. Was that a knock on my co-worker? or my job?
  10. Not only do they have Adrian Gonzalez, as you mention, but they also have one hell of a 1B prospect named Kyle Blanks (.325/.404/.514 at AA as a 21 year old). Therefore, I don't see it happening. A third team would absolutely need to be worked in, and at that point there's really no point for SD to be involved. Best chance is Lee to SF, OAK or possibly the Angels if they aren't content with Kendry Morales at 1B. I would definitely pursue Lee and others for Matt Cain if at all possible. Annaheim is an interesting possibility. They have plenty of talent, but a lot of it is over the hill. I doubt theyd be willing to move one of their top pitchers, and guys like Rivera and Anderson are over the hill. Id take Vlad, but I cant see them moving him. Hendry has had an eye out for Chone Figgins for a while, but hes never interested me much. As for Matt Cain, we can forget about him. The Giants have deemed him untouchable, as they should. Granted, if The Brewers offered them Fielder and Hardy, it would be hard for them to ignore it, but we dont have anything close to offer, considering we dont have a Gamel and an Escobar waiting to take their place. I wouldn't mind a Lee for Figgins and the signing of Tex. Like I said though the signing would have to come first and then Anaheim would give up less to Lee since they knew we didn't need him
  11. Your second sentence is exactly what I want and your first post is exactly why it won't happen. Seriously, if the Cubs can move Lee and have a legit shot at Tex, they'd be stupid not to pursue it. The thing is though we'd have to sign Tex first and then trade Lee so we'd obviously get less for him I'd think Maybe. Personally, I'm not as concerned about the return we get for Lee as much as I am just unloading him (if we get Tex, that is). Very true...I would love at least someone who can play RF, LF, CF, SS, or 2B that was left handed
  12. He wouldn't be a lottery ticket...Even with his decline at the end of the year he still was one of the best players in the American League
  13. Would have been nice though not going to lie We never really had him. We had a deal in place with the Reds that we would drsft him and trade him to them. If it hadnt been for the deal, we probably never would have grabbed him to begin with. Besides, we didnt need him, we had Jacque Jones and Felix Pie, and if they fell through, Tyler Colvin was just around the corner, so how could we possibly go wrong? Oh no I know we didn't just am say it would have nice to have him ha

  15. Ha yes true, but like you just pointed out yourself with all three of those pitchers there are expectations that go along with them.
  16. there 2-3...they lost to the bears which they didn't play better than...They ended up getting beat pretty handily by Dallas. The closest they got was the Washington game which I will give you they outplayed them. Also statistics aren't the only thing that matters when factors in how good a team is. No, the Eagles significantly outplayed the Bears statistically in the game, despite the score. Statistics matter much more than wins when determining how good a team is now and how good they will be going forward. Well at 2-3 in the division and 2 of those losses to the teams above them in there division I don't like their chances from hear on out especially cause they still need to play the best team in the Giants. I know what your saying, but for the Eagles in that division statistics don't matter, wins matter more
  17. Would have been nice though not going to lie

  19. Because Hamilton is injury prone and Zambrano is an ace caliber pitcher, which they sorely need. The problem is that Zambrano is not an ace-quality pitcher. If Texas thinks that though, this could be the steal of the century Well many people believe he is much better than he show ever year. He has the stuff to be the best in the league, but always screws up. So I dont think it would be that crazy for a team to want to see what they could do with him.
  20. Don't understand Baltimore at 2? There good but, not that good and Don't understand Philadelphia at 4 at 2-3 don't care if they were close games?
  21. Really the team with probably the worst pitching in baseball wouldn't even think about trading for one of the best pitchers in baseball? You don't think Pie and Zambrano could even get a discussion about it?
  22. Ok before this trade gets ripped apart let me know what you think. My co-worker is a huge Cubs fan and said he thinks we need to do a blockbuster deal.... so he proposed.... Zambrano for J. Hamilton Hamilton in the middle of our line-up would be the perfect person to ad, and he's also one of the best CF defensively. Zambrano I love him, but Texas would probably desperately want an Ace for there staff especially a reasonably young one. Now I don't know if this ever could happen. I think though that Zambrano would definitely get talks go for a deal. This also would save us some money that we could put towards Dempster and other FA's (why haven't we talked about signing Burnett by the way?)
  23. You make great points with the 3 points out of his 4 points. You are forgetting that the media and fans tore him apart. When you get treated like that not many players can come back from that anyways.
  24. Move Soriano to 2B and Derosa to right. I want nothing to do with Soriano in RF. He's a barely passable as left fielder (read as he's not Adam Dunn or Manny out there) I like that
  25. Thank God! I felt like that was just throw under the bus for a few months. I thought it was kind of a big deal
