  1. Apparently about $900k. $5.5M of his $13M salary is being paid by the Pirates, half the remainder was already paid out by the A's this year, and they sent cash in the deal to cover a good chunk of the rest. So unless Blevins becomes the next Willis (), it's a no nothing deal with possible upside? Well, Blevins was doing impressively well this year as a reliever, but it is quite possible that Hendry actually sold high and bought low, here. Question remains whether "bought low" will actually translate into any improvement for a player like Kendall, though. Can't be worse than what Bowen provided offensively, and pitchers seem to really like his game calling ability, so hopefully that can be a non-issue. Not good at throwing runners out, but nobody has been this year for the Cubs. I think he sold high here as well. Alot of people criticize him for selling low, then they turn around and criticize him for selling high. If Kendall can have a decent 2nd half he'd be an enormous upgrade and also as a veteran, I'd rather have him coming up to bat over the likes of Hill or Soto in a crucial post season at bat.
  2. Where would Dunn play? I can't imagine him trying to play RF. He'd be a butcher out there, but imagine him in the middle of the lineup. And Soriano (and Pie if recalled to start) would cover enough ground and play good enough defense to make up for Dunn's miscues. They would not make up for Dunn's miscues. They would help. But they can't catch the balls hit at him or at his right.

  4. Yeah but he looks friggen kool in those goggles.
  5. Yeah I just saw that exchange, must have been a replay. What a friggen dork. You can almost see the anger in his eyes. Boy does that idiot just hate the cubs. It's probably tearing him up inside that they are winning.
  6. Sorry, I was too engrossed in the new series, "The Bronx Is Burning" to notice. Yeah I saw that.
  7. Are there any other cubs haters out there whining and moaning because the cubs are winning? And more importantly, are there any video feeds of it. :P
  8. I'm at the point I'm not even caring about Milwaukee. Give them a couple of weeks without Sheets. They'll start a little losing streak soon enough. Plus our position in the wild card is very good. My focus is hoping this team can get to 10 games above .500. That would be a nice goal for the near future.
  9. Batting 7th. Cubs Catcher. Jason Kendall. (smattering of applause).
  10. Speaking of, has anyone watched ESPN lately? (I know, it's hard). . But since the Yankee's are way out of it. Is there still the same amount of coverage on the Yankee's as always? Did they just shift over the extra time to the winning Red Sox or have the Cubs gotten any more time because of their winning. They should. But I think I know what the answer is. Someone humor me anyway, please?
  11. meh. still just a reliever, and one that will need to be handled carefully. but i heart kerry and it would be a boost. I was joking. That's what Hendry and Dusty were saying last year.
  12. Ofcourse he will be. And all of the people moaning and complaining and over reacting in the trade thread will be verbalizing his name soon.
  13. He summed it up pretty nicely. Ofcourse he'll be wrong according to some here probably.
  14. i wasn't aware pie was a young impact pitcher Yeah it starts with Rich Hill or Marshall. Probably Hill. We also have to worry about extending Zambrano first. We've got Z, Lee, Ram, Sori, as 4 really high paid players. We can't just sign every impact free agent every off season. I just don't think it's realistic way of figuring it will work.
  15. With the season he's having, I'd much prefer to see him start out at the bottom of the order and work his way up to the second spot. yea, sportsnight said Lou wanted to start him out in the 7th spot...which i don't mind Yet another solid move to rack up on Lou's solid move rack. If one so exsists. .
  16. Me, too. Look at the job the team has done with Marquis. I trust the Cubs with reclamation projects. Hey it worked for the first few months, didn't it? Jason Marquis' ERA is only 9 points higher than Matsuzaka's. And we didn't pay $100 million for him. Our scouts are good. Two curves heading in opposite directions have to converge somewhere. Right, and maybe Kendall is curving too?

  18. He must have had a CRAZY June because the caption said "Jason Kendall, who is hitting .297 in his last 25 games, is expected to be in uniform Tuesday. (Getty)". I'm willing to give our scout and our excellent hitting coach a month to see if they made a good choice on Kendall. All he does it hit singles I take it from people complaining about his weak OPS+. But I have a bit of faith in our scouting department. Look at how most of our FA's turned out this year.
  19. Ok so our C has put on .260 OBP so far this year. It's POSSIBLE Kendall could put up to .330 or better. Can anyone compare what our C have put up OPS+ wise this year? I'm ok with this deal, maybe the scout saw that he was having a better June and thought he could have a good few months in Wrigley? is it really that hard to get positive about an offensive upgrade? Even if it's minor? I'm behind our new cubbie and hope he does well.
  20. You know the video where he was asked about the outfield and he laughed and said not to ask all those interesting questions. It was a comcast post-game interview.
  21. It'll be like getting an all-star player without trading anyone.
  22. I tore a tendon in my middle finger. But that was mainly from flipping the bird too much.
  23. I don't think it will be anything spectacular. Just some of the dumping that will help this team. And maybe bring in a pretty good play to fill a hole and help further strengthen the team. Since I hardly know more than just the big name players. I don't know who that might be.
