  1. I agree with the Logan. This would be a great time to start rebuilding. Our window is closed, we have a new owner, and we have a stronger minor league system with a few good guys due up in a couple of years. I'd put everyone from Lee to Zambrano on the block and get as much solid pieces that would be ready to produce within the next couple of years. I personally am ready for a new core. Don't get me wrong I love guys like Z, Lee, and Rammy. But they have not worked out and are getting past their prime. I'm ready for a new bunch with Soto staying, Wells, Marmol, Starlin, Vitters, Archer, ect. . plus all new guys from trades. I really wish the team I love would be doing that, it would be very exciting to me, actually.
  2. Tim, your article if anything, makes me sad. Only because I would love the Cubs to be run efficiently and smartly like that. But I know they won't. (atleast until Hendry is gone).
  3. i almost used that exact phrase Good now you two can shake hands and make up and talk some baseball. WOOO!
  4. It's not that it's a surprise, so much as it's just one of those disappointments that you know is going to be disappointing before it happens but you didn't realize how disappointing it'd actually be. LOL, I hear ya. Yeah I guess you could say it's worse than we thought now that it's happened.
  5. I kinda feel the way you do TC. Get this Hendry crap overpaid, backloaded crap out of here. But the most important thing. Hendry needs to be GONE. The day that happens our franchise will start to look a tremendous amount better.
  6. We pretty much knew we had to make a bad trade to get rid of Bradley. So it shouldn't come as a surprise to you. Sure I had some hope we might have beenable to get a somewhat good player. But not much.
  7. If I were Capps and I wanted to play for a contender. And the Phills were interested. I'd choose the Phills over the Cubs in a heartbeat.
  8. Cause it's a Cubs fan.
  9. I'm with Dexter here. Hendry deserves credit for CRAP. I'll give him credit only for the few good moves that he has made. But after a good move he'll turn around and sign CRAP for big money. His crap far outweighs any redeeming qualities. You cannot build a good team with 1 good trade followed by 3 overpayed mediocre or crap players. And that's the reason I can't stand him any more.
  10. Wait. So we are saving 6 million over two years? Well that makes it a bit easier to swallow. Hopefully we don't use the money on a crappy bullpen guy or something. That's how I understand it. We swap Contracts. I believe Silva is owed about 2-3 mil more than Bradley including the 2 mil buyout? And the Mariners sent us about 6 mil over 2 years? But yeah it's a savings. If it's enough to help us afford Byrd then that's the best Hendry can do to salvage this train wreck he created. The only thing is Seattle gets an actual productive player and gets rid of an albatross contract of a pitcher they had by just pitching in 6 mil or so extra the next 2 years. They made out much better than us. Well all I can say is I'm glad it's over but I am no longer a Hendry supporter. Hendry has always been decent at trades, but he has way too many stupid downfalls to even try to defend anymore.
  11. Will you come back when (hopefully) hendry is fired and with Ricketts starting to pull this ship in the right direction?
  12. We basically traded contracts. We don't pay all of Bradley AND Silva's contracts. From what I understand we save $6 mil over two years but now we are still paying Silva near $10 MILLION over the each next two years.
  13. Byrd, or Podsednik if not. But most people probably feel this way. Byrd, if not please god, not scotty Pods or Ankiel. I think Byrd would be an ok option actually, so that's why I feel it won't actually happen.
  14. Is anyone else bored and wants something to happen just for the sake of happening? I know I shouldn't say that, because it's probably better to just keep Bradley than trade him for about %80 of the options that are out there.
  15. so what's the current most likely destination? (likely to change I'm sure). I've heard recently Bradley for Burrel, but where the heck would we put pat the bat?
  16. You two want to leave your bitching somewhere else please? My God it gets old quick. As far as what's going on. I hope we move on Byrd quickly, I ofcourse wanted Cameron as my first option, but Byrd isn't so bad (if we just HAVE to get rid of Bradley).
  17. I did. Whoopsies. Bradley was extremely good in 2008 when healthy. But for whatever reasons he was a below average player in 09. It's because we had him, ofcourse. :-&
  18. If we had the money I'd be all for keeping Harden. But damn Hendry for being stupid and shelling out bad contract after bad contract. Now we have to go after a guy like Cameron with that money because of another one of Hendry's many many mistakes.
  19. 6 words would be preferable. "Never was a Cub Aron Miles."
  20. I liked Harden don't get me wrong. And I always felt pretty comfortable when he was out there. But he could never go much more than 5 innings and that was always uncomfortable considering trying to rest our bullpen, etc. I don't put too too much anger toward Hendry on this one.
  21. Milton Bradley won't be gone from chicago until February 5th. Book it. Do I have inside info? Do I have connections with the "secret team"? Only time will tell.
  22. Tell Looper he can take is fat grinning ass elsewhere.
  23. I think I like the more recent moves Hendry has been making. In retrospect Derosa for some pretty good prospects, trading fox and miles for some decent young guys. This is the type of team building I like. However Hendry has made alot of stupid moves in the past. One of his major problems is overpaying for mediocrity and sometimes even CRAP. This shouldn't be arguable, it's a fact. I do hope the Cubs continue making moves like this in the future, and less like the Fukudome/Soriano type. Because those moves don't build your team, they hamper it.
