  1. Here you go: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=22837 glad I asked. :)
  2. Ok now that you've all joined me in the Trea Turner camp I fear he'll get taken 2nd or 3rd.
  3. I voted for Elloy and I hope he makes the list first. I just prefer the young guys who haven't shown anything yet but still have that elite ceiling to dream on. IE: guys who could (rarely I know but still a chance) show up in the top 10 of baseball a few years down the road. I'd rather have a guy like that than a Vitters, who at this point his upside is a really good bench bat and 4th OF. Being a Cubs fan and a dreamer kind of go hand in hand.
  4. When I look back at the list it makes me think, boy do we have a pretty strong top 20 and a nice deep farm with a mix of elite ceiling guys and more steady good floor type guys. Even when you get into the late teens you've got guys like Jimminez (high risk / elite ceiling) and Ramirez (moderate/high risk average ceiling)
  5. My hope right now is we take whoever is the top college bat or arm left on the board. I'm hoping all of Rodon, Hoffman, Beede and Turner all have great years so there will be a great college player available for us no matter who the Sox and Marlins pick. Plus hoping for another college creeper (the good kind).
  6. Beede won't start on Saturday unless Friday's game is rained out. Haven't slept in 24+ hours. Thought it said Friday.
  7. They are paying him enough money that they know it's important for them to do it right. They know the right way is not unjustifyingly rushing him. But letting him dictate when he is ready, by performance and mental readiness.
  8. Looks like first time to see Tyler Beede is Sat, March 22 8:30 p.m. No. 8 Vanderbilt at No. 4 Mississippi State ESPNU Plenty of chances to see Trea Turner though, NC State is on a lot. First time is next Friday. Fri, Feb 21 3 p.m. Appalachian State at No. 9 NC State ESPN3
  9. I'm gonna try to record a game on TV with either Beede or Turner. Those are the guys I'm focusing on. While I like Kolek, and Gatewood, and a couple of others I remember this time last year I didn't know my Bryant from my Frazier. Picking this high in the draft I think the first thought process in drafting is, you want to see the college guys do real good, then have one of them available when you pick. Which is what happened with Bryant last year. It could happen with Turner or Beede for us this year.
  10. If I buy MLB.tv for like $120 there are like an additional 5 or 6 games the first half of march. I'm probably not gonna make that investment when I already plan to buy the full season of milb.tv for $30. Does anyone know if MLB network has released their spring training televised schedule? They said they will be covering spring training games. So likely whatever ones already have telecasts they will get to pick from. I just hope we (me) luck into one or two of the early March Cubs ones. /crossing fingers
  11. Low I'd say. 10% maybe. There is a slight bit chance that everything clicks and he just completely destroys all the minors. But from the few articles I've read. I think this FO might want him a whole year in the minors just to do some mental maturing and adjustment to US ball and US living.
  12. A while back Brett over at BN, and some posters here posted what games will be televised. The first one near the end of February and then not again for like 2 weeks. By that time the exciting prospects will be gone from spring training. Is there anything I can buy to catch more? Possibly a sports package that televises other teams games who just HAPPEN to be playing the Cubs that day? I also have MLB Network. I probably could subscribe to MLB.tv and catch a few more. But is there any TV/cable packages that I might buy?
  13. Theo or McLeod also said something about 2 pitchers they are watching so either they like Beede or Hoffman as the 2nd guy who they hope falls. They obviously have Rodon as 1.
  14. See I'm starting to think Beede or Turner. Though I'm on a "they probably want College dude" kick.
  15. Villanueva get it right. That's Jack Sparrow.
  16. Oh that speedy 2B guy with upside? Like this gamble. Our 2B and 3B should be a lot better by the end of this year. Even if guys like this and Olt don't work out. We have a pool of prospects all competing for these 2 spots.
  17. guys I'll be watching with most anticipation (in order) Baez, Bryant, Almora, Castro, Rizzo, Olt, Vizciano. Then a ton of other guys in no order. I'll be interested in other players but I'll pay special attention when one of those guys is pitching/batting. It's too bad only one game will be televised before the prospects are no longer in camp.
  18. I wish BP did something like that. An indepth look at the 2014 draftees. Cause that's the only one I have a subscription to. :)
  19. you'll want to track North Carolina State for Turner and Vanderbilt every fifth day for Beede. I'm interested to see if Beede can get his command together. If he can he could be a likely pick for the Cubs.
  20. I think that's a pretty good ranking. It just so happens that I agree with that order completely . :) Though I might toss Jiminez in there after Blackburn.
  21. I'll vote Rob Zystryzny until he's off the board. I just think being the #41 overall pick from a good drafting FO deserves some trust. I think if you take all the pitchers in that 10-20 group including blackburn, pinyero, black, ramirez, etc. . I think Z is the safest bet to pitch himself into the top 100 after the year is over.
