  1. Yeah I can see both sides here. There is no reason to get upset at or talk trash about Smardzija here. I'd like to keep him long term, but have come to expect they likely will trade him.
  2. Please don't. I think this is why I have panic disorder (not you, the Cubs).
  3. As long as we see a slow and steady increase in his pitches per outing I am still very hopeful with Edwards. He's a 2016 guy so he has time to really work his way up to starter level stamina. Take your time and take it easy with Edwards.
  4. I like Kolek, Aiken, and Rodon. I think whichever of them slip to us we should take without hesitation. I'm glad Kolek is getting lots of love. I'm not bragging here but ever since I saw that little preview clip of him on mlb.com I thought he looked damn good. I know it's just a couple snippets but I love that super tight movement of his pitches. He just looks like he's gonna be awesome already.
  5. Gastritis, GERD, Hiatal Hernia, Esophagitis. Look em all up. All translate to "I'm a [expletive]." I could have said if I eat onions I get severe pain in my chest and heartburn for several hours straight that won't go away no matter what medicine I take. Pressure and gas in my stomach and chest and I can hardly burp to relieve it, and I can't sleep. But then I might be accused of being a whiny [expletive].
  6. Even when he loses he does it so well. He's a major leaguer.
  7. Would we rather it be injury or attitude? Which to hope for? Definitely would rather it be for him doing whatever the [expletive] he wants as long as it isn't something that gets him suspended (which we probably would've heard by now) They probably pulled Soler because they know he's probably throw his bat at Latos in retaliation as soon as he got in the batters box.
  8. I can't wait to see how things shake out over the next couple of months. Last year I don't remember how close to the draft it was but we kinda just had 3 names to focus on. The year before that we heard a lot of Cubs love Almora rumors and that one report that Theo was really impressed with Correa at the plate. Right now though, it could be half a dozen + right now we should be looking at (as possible Cubs picks). We just have that McLeod really liked Jackson thing to go by right now.
  9. Gastritis, GERD, Hiatal Hernia, Esophagitis. Look em all up.
  10. I think Kane Counties is on video stream tonite. I'll have a lot of flipping back and forth to do. Want to see, Baez, Alcantara, Bryant, Soler, Blackburn.
  11. Iowa for Baez's 4-5 PA's. Smokies whenever Baez isn't batting. Yeah sounds like a plan. And Smokies for when Bryant is up to bat, and the half inning Edwards is pitching.
  12. you actually want to watch minor league baseball games? eeeeshhhh ill just watch the javy bombs on youtube or whatever for me, it's all about the "in play, run(s)" that works too or just coming to these threads or watching twitter [expletive] twitter. Seriously you'd rather watch stupid tweets than CJ Edwards live? I've never seen him pitch, besides those two gifs. I'd actually like to watch him pitch a complete inning.
  13. gonna buy milb.tv. Which one should I watch live? Iowa or Tenn? I guess I'll decide when I find out who's starting (on the mound).
  14. It's not the *only* reason. You love us?
  15. I'm glad Schlitter made the team. I mean, we're gonna need someone sporting the Jesus look after Samardzija gets traded. And no, Russel doesn't quite do it for me.
  16. milb.tv will be worth the $49.99 this year (I swear it was $29.99 last year, am I crazy?) (Am I also crazy to think they raised it knowing how many great cubs fans there are and how many great cubs prospects will be at higher levels this year?) (Am I also crazy to have used 3 of these?)
  17. You're not going to sign guys to big deals that are already in their mid-30's. These megadeals are being given to guys in their early 30s, and while there will always be some of them on the market, the number of great ones will dwindle as more and more teams lock their guys up early, and through the end of their prime years. I agree. But, I guess my point is that there will always be really good players who will be overpaid. I hope Theo doesn't write a potential target off out of hand simply because of his age and cost. Theo will continue to target guys like Anibel Sanchez and Masahiro Tanaka who become available. There will be more guys like that. They are not as common but when they do hit you have to strike hard.
  18. And pushing Baez to 3rd and Alcantara as trade bait. We're gonna have a few really good near ready prospects to trade this offseason. Or maybe they can be add-ons for a bigger deal mid season.
  19. Picking 4th is a nice consolation prize. But I would like to hope this offseason we actually land one of those, predict future success pitchers.
  20. $300 Million for Baez if he becomes a superstar, starting at his age 25 season? Sure. But this is ridiculous when they already had him til age 33. Of course our situation won't come up because we will lock Baez up long before that, and for less than $100 mil. Our situation is unique because we have our prime guys coming up and really good scouting so we will predict their performance and pay them BEFORE they become insane stars. It's a risk to do that, but I would way waaaaaaay rather do that than wait until they are stars and pay the $300 million dollar contracts.
