  1. I was on the Olt bandwagon the minute we traded for him. I called him the prime piece in the Garza trade. Now I had to be convinced it was Edwards and I changed my mind and agreed with that assessment. But I still felt Olt was more than just a guy that couldn't see any more. Really excited to think of him as our starting 3B. Our core gets much larger starting this year.
  2. I'm a fan of the great eight. I say we go for that.
  3. throws hard, drafted high, unusual last name. All positives for a pitching prospect.
  4. Who cares he's saying good stuff bout our prospects. But it is getting kinda old. Kinda reminds me of the guy that no girl likes but he keeps gushing over her after she's already told him to scram.
  5. I don't know much about what he's done, only some vague memories that he has not really put it together yet. But it's more of a pedigree thing of youth, and being a second round pick of a good FO. That's about it. But as others have said, you could probably lump 10+ guys together. It's a mix of average fringe guys and some young guys who could show improvement and become something. Take your pick.
  6. Oh kinda like. "I'd like to get drunk and have a bubble bath with Javier Baez #WET"
  7. Why has he gone full slobber mode on the Cubs this year? Not that I'm complaining.
  8. But then Baez and Bryant will promote and then drop off the prospect lists and thus be worthless to us. I'm gonna take a snapshot at the end of 2014. That way I can always remember it.
  9. Thankfully there are HS bats who look like they'd be worthy of being selected at 1.4 so college bat vs pitchers is a false choice. Jackson? Oh sorry, I thought you said "bat". Nevermind. Yeah you are probably right. I only focused on college bat because of how good of a pick Bryant was. But you are right though. If our FO doesn't feel Turner or other College Bats or pitchers have that elite upside then going with good scouting on a great HS bat is something I would feel comfortable with, with this front office for sure.
  10. I think it's just personal preference at this point. For me, I like the starting potential of guys like Skulina and Underwood (even if they're far away) over a guy like Alberto Cabrera, who has the ability to be a force in a major league bullpen this year and beyond, but is already 25 and has never had much success above AA. Yeah youth for me that still haven't lost that upside to dream on. We know it's not likely, but I prefer to dream on young prospects than Meh on older ones.
  11. Hey it'll be core five for sure after we draft. But you're getting at it maybe 2 more will emerge. Then we can all be the Brady bunch. The Bra~dy Bunch, the Brady Bunch. That's the way we became the Brady Bunch. Ba dumdum dumdumDADADUM.
  12. Eh, we'll take him. We have plenty of 3rd basemen for the Twins.
  13. is she the one who coined that? She was asking Almora just recently and referred to the "core four" as if it was something "other people" were calling them.
  14. Turner will go before we pick, being the top college bat. But that means Hoffman or Beede will be there for us. With other guys likely in at least a very similar "tier". We seemed to have lucked out these last few years. In 2012 got Almora with an apparent tier of about 7 guys, got Bryant with an apparent tier of 3 guys and 2014 looks like maybe 4-6 guys could be considered tier 1 by draft time.
  15. Is that a hotdog in your pocket or are you just happy to see that picture?
  16. I know it was a Wilken pick but I meant as far as Jackson also being a HSer and the fact that it's been said McLeod loves him and really good scouts can see stuff in HSers before most of us can.
  17. So how hilariously wrong was this? I mean, if we want to really give him the benefit of the doubt, that did come before Baez played his full senior season, so maybe his opinion would have changed. But it's a good reminder of how much can change with draft reports, especially for high schoolers. Maybe a learning experience to trust McLeod? Makes me maybe kinda ok with a Jackson pick if we do eventually end up with him.
  18. Man Almora's voice has changed quite a bit since that first video I remember watching when he cried about his grandfather. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140226&content_id=68353926&vkey=news_chc&c_id=chc&tcid=tw_article_68353926 I don't know why but after watching that I suddenly thought. Almora will be the prospect to rise in the rankings more than any other in the Cubs system by the end of 2014. And he's already ranked high. Almora for #1 prospect in baseball Feb '15!!
  19. I'm gonna go Rivero here. Just seems like the closer to MLB and some good upside in the pen deserves the nod here above some other guys.
  20. mmmm. mmmm. mmmmmMMMMM ok I have to do it. Jbae and Kbra.
  21. dammit I missed it on MLB Network. What was it called on the channel guide? Any hopes for a repeat? (stupid real life).
  22. That's cool, thanks for that. So MLB Networks is partnering with BA to bring it on TV? I will def have to catch/record that.
  23. So do I! Yay Cubs!
