  1. Novoa hasn't even come close to what Farnsworth has done. Yeah his leg grabbing diving tackle isn't nearly as good as farnsworth.
  2. I can't wait for this season to be over yet. But for different reasons as some of you. I want to see who Hendry gets, I actually have a little bit of hope.
  3. Rudderless... utterless isn't anything. I guess it would be a cow without utters. . . :?: And then those would be udders. . . Yeah I know.
  4. Barrets got Ballz. no search for intrascrotal hematoma on images.google produced any results.
  5. Rudderless... utterless isn't anything. I guess it would be a cow without utters. . . :?:
  6. Isn't Durham a swing at every pitch type guy too? He has a career .073 IsoD, so probably not. Interesting, not bad and he has some power too, isn't he around 33/34 years old? Ok...if the Cubs can get ARod and AJones I'll settle for Durham at second instead of Soriano. Hopeful, aren't you?
  7. If we had an Alou type in LF and an Ajones type in RF then I wouldn't mind theroit at 2B at all. He seems to take alot of pitches and make good contact. But we are at the position where we need to upgrade 2B, CF, and RF. And if you can get a great bat for 2B you've got to take it.
  8. I'll conceide. I was one of the ones for clubhouse chemistry after 04. But then again I didn't know we were going to lose Alou, Sosa, Wood, Prior and so much talent since then. Chemistry is very good. But you need TALENT first, and then maybe chemistry a close 2nd. If A-rod was a "clubhouse cancer" would you still want him? Hell YES!!
  9. And people said that David Eckstein shouldn't play sports because he was so small, or not toolsy enough, blah, blah. If Theriot can play, like him play. You never know what Theriot can do, unless you give him the opportunity to play. So, yes, I like to see him be seriously considered to start in 2007. On the flipside of that thinking, that's pretty much how we got saddled with Cedeno. And Murton.
  10. Yeah? So? The way he was pitching back then, there's no way he deserved to be pitching in the major leagues. I said it then, and I'll stand by it now. He had to get something resolved, he went to the minors again, sorted it out, and now he's pitching well and I couldn't be happier. No need to spoil the mood of the day with obnoxious "told you so" posts. He didn't sort it out in the Minors. He sorted it out by the Cubs giving him long enough to get over his confidence problems. Ironically, it would have never happened if it weren't for all the injuries and us being out of contention. Us Hill supporters beleived this, the naysayers didn't.
  11. What the hell, man? Most of us bashing him earlier prefaced repeatedly that we WANT to be proven wrong. Now that we have been proven wrong so far, pretty much all of us are admitting we may have jumped the gun and praising Hill's stepping up to the ML level. These "told you so" posters are getting pretty tedious, especially since they're not really "catching" anyone at anything and really only seem to be wanting to annoy/embarass other posters. I mean, you pick two of my posts where I was clearly just ranting, mostly for comedic sake, and ignored the dozens of others where I actually explained why I didn't like Hill earlier and how I hoped he'd prove my apprehension wrong and all of the posts where I've specifically said he's shown that my previous opinions might very well be incorrect. Not cool. He's just showing that Hill is proving you wrong right now. And might I add I understand some of you WANTED Rich to do well. But you certainly weren't showing it. While some of us kept saying we wanted to see him given a FAIR SHOT. IE: atleast 8-10 consecutive chances to get over his lack of confidence. He's seemed to gotten over that hump, so right now, just. . . http://www.pete-online.us/Images/EatCrow.jpg
  12. I know it's rough. But if it cures, it's worth it.
  13. We thought my dad had lymphoma for awhile. Because they said the saw some moving cells or something like that in his lymph nodes. Well later on he came back with great news that it was no kind of cancer. They just said it was some kind of dandruff problem. He had lots of problem with his skin, you see. Anyway during that time I found out, if found early, many types of lymphoma can and have been treated suscessfully. So this is not as life threatening as some cancers. So there is a bit of hope of Lester.
  14. Dusty sucks. Stop defending him. Dusty is Ba-a-a-a-a-a-a-d.
  15. Let's remember we compete mostly with "not truely great teams". .
  16. Muton developing some power eh? Does anyone think this is a case of sample size, or that murton might perhaps beable to hit 20 HR next year?
  17. Speaking of. Does anyone have the pat & ron audio of that game?
  18. That's right. It's The Riot's fault. Yep, that's exactly what I said. its not, but thats what Dusty would say Well if that's not what he meant, it's weird timing to notice that. Just after Z's throw. Why not notice it just now when he is batting?
  19. they can exactly describe the loss of DLee. There isn't a stat that measure the psyhological effects of the loss of DLee. and there's no proof that unicorns don't exist. but that doesn't mean they do. So you mean we are all robots and don't have emmotions? You don't beleive phycology exsists?
  20. pairing the quote with the Lloyd Christmas pic http://home.utm.utoronto.ca/~a_yeung/carey.jpg for full effect. 8) It's more like this. . So your SAYING we have a CHANCE!! YEAH!!! . . . . I hear ya. . .
  21. I believe that the comments on 2-3 wins was based on the initial estimate that he was only supposed to miss 6 weeks (or around 1/4 of the season). As others have posted, Lee was worth around 10 wins above a Neifi/Mabry level player last year. Divide that by 4 and you get 2-3 wins. Yes but when you add the total colapse and lack of confidence in themselves and lack of coaching and mental support by a compitent manager. Couldn't you add a handful of wins too? Lee went down, this team went in a TOTAL. . funk.
  22. Former Cub pitcher Sam "Toothpick" Jones (who pitched a no-hitter in the 1950s) begs to differ. I've got it! . . . Dusty invented the term Base-clogging!!!
  23. Several former Cubs managers strongly disagree with you Dusty invented the toothpick, maybe?
