    I thought there was talk that Baez had been working on similar mechanical adjustments, but not much of anything looked different to me, but I'm hardly the person to know for sure.

    That was the comparison I was making. For as much as people are burying Javy for his contact rate he still had a z-contact rate equivalent to rookie Rizzo. Or compare it to whoever, an 80% z-contact is not bad as a rookie, and to me is a bright spot that is worth acknowledging. It's just a really narrow comparison that really doesn't do much of anything to justify the general comparisons to Rizzo people still insist on trotting out just because Rizzo struggled with the Padres.

It's fine to think he will bust, but to think there isn't one smarter option out there than a 22 year old power-hitting, middle-infielding, multiple-option-possessing 2014 top 5 prospect -- just one... then maybe this thread isn't for you. The odds of Baez flipping out after he accepts that he's a compete failure at hitting the baseball and ultimately going on a Last Boyscout-type rampage that decimates the Cubs and therefore makes us look back and wish he had been unusually cut in March of 2015 is much, much, MUCH higher with him than with Soler.

    From the way he talks, it seems like the whole being banned from working baseball thing bothers him a LOT more than not being in the HoF. The HoF is such a backwards cluster [expletive] to begin with that I don't really care if he's let in to it; since not being to work in baseball is what bugs him the most, that's what should stick.
