  1. Facebook Cubs? Yeah, but people who comment on stuff on facebook are universally idiots And everywhere else; there's few places you go to to not hear or read Cubs fans raging and bemoaning about anything and everything the Cubs do.
  2. yeah thats the part i just can't buy about mojos argument Aren't you the one that introduced us to the CubsFans or whatever the [expletive] it is Twitter feed? That's some delicious Cubs-directed hatred.
  3. Don't you think limiting it to Cubs fan you personally know limits the sample size unfairly? I assume you would choose not to closely associate with idiots who are obsessed with the White Sox, but this site right here, and this very thread actually, prove they absolutely exist. I mean, sure it does. But I've also lived in the Chicago area for 30+ years now - maybe 20 of those as a somewhat aware human being - (and always more in what would be considered Cubs territory) and the vitriol just seems way more intense in one direction. Maybe I'm wrong. Probably because, as I said, most Cubs fans are busy complaining about their team more than any other rival fan could. The Sox fans have to work twice as hard to be heard above the fray of internal meatballery. Cubs fans are just as ugly and petty and spiteful as any other fan; they just have even more self-loathing.
  4. This place already has prime TV rules. It's because that one time Roast had a fannypack malfunction.
  5. Your mom is. She is, actually. She routinely roots for the Packers after the inevitable Bears collapse because "they're a Midwest team, too!" Plus she comes from a large family of mostly Sox fans, so there's that, too.
  6. Those people are very, very gross.
  7. Baez is never coming back. Russell 4 ever.
  8. Hell, my years in Chicago taught me that the average Cubs fan was going to have opinions about the Cubs as dumb and as hateful as any Sox fan. THEY LEARNED IT FROM US.
  9. A lot of you probably live in the city, north side, different state or wherever so most of you can't see for yourself how they are or think " No, way it ain't that bad" and think it's all overblown. Unless you live on the south side, then you really can't grasp it. I live in the southwest suburbs and let me tell you, the hatred & caring more about the Cubs is true. I can't count the many times out at bars around the area where a Cubs game is on and Sox fans paying very close attention to it & when the opposing team scores they erupt in cheers and clap loudly. Couple times wearing my Cubs jersey or shirt minding my own business and hear snarky comments like " This is the Southide!" or some other idiotic comment, or questioned why I'm wearing that out here. This is also isn't just friendly heckling. Been told from a couple Sox fans they are born and raised growing up to "HATE the Cubs". Lots of Sox fans wearing Anti-Cubs shirts and even Sox fan license plates that read "IH8Cubs" or something of the sort. So yes, the rage & hatred they have for the Cubs and their fans is true..It's not an overblown perception whatsoever. They have their inferiority complex and basically live to bash anything Cubs related and you hear it more than talk about their own team. And bring up the Sox to the average Cubs and you'll hear plenty of the dumbest vitriol you'll ever hear. It's simply not this weird thing for fanbases sharing the same city to not like each other and the opposing team. Why is it supposed to be this embarrassing thing that they don't like the other guys? This is the kind of crap you get with any fan rivalry; you just have more interaction between these fanbases because they share a city.
  10. http://gifsforum.com/images/gif/happy/grand/diPXW.gif
  11. But mostly it comes to dumb fans are loud and dumb. Thinking those types of fan represent most Sox fans is as silly as people assuming that the horrible people in the bleachers represent most Cubs fans. Plus we're the fans of the terrible team that pretty much everyone gets to pick on because they suck, so there's definitely an inferiority complex thing at play.
  12. I was at the Cubby Bear for the last game. Immediately after the Sox won, I went outside and there was a group of about 40 White Sox fans standing in front of the Wrigley marquee chanting "[expletive] the Cubs!" and "1908" I mean holy hell, that is how you choose to spend your first few minutes of celebrating the first World Series title of your lifetime? The poor bastards were stuck in the pit that is Wrigleyville when their team won; seems like a perfectly appropriate response.
  13. I mean, does anyone REALLY believe there's a serious number of Sox fans who would rather see the Cubs lose than their own team do well?
  14. Well, yeah, our teams share the same city. It's going to be even more heated. I just don't get the perception that it's so lopsided; during my years in Chicago I constantly heard Cubs fans giving that [expletive] as good as they got.
  15. Or they can do both things. That just seems like a really thing to actually believe; we're Cubs fans, so most of what we're going to hear from rival fans is [expletive]-talking about our team.
  16. I don't know; I see that about them or the Reds or the White Sox a lot, and it just seems like a real "so what?"-kind of deal. It's not like it really transcends the context of "this team is our team's rival, so therefore we will mock them" so it never really seems like it goes beyond anything you'd expect from rival fans, and the whole "they care more about hating the Cubs than their own team" rings about as true as rival fans complaining about there aren't any real Cubs fans and it's just a bunch of tourists and drunks who don't care about baseball. Baseball rivalries are petty things, and hey, good on them for getting a good dig in. Like it was said, I can't wait for the Cubs to finally be in a position to do something similar.
  17. It's almost as if they're rivals in a competitive sport or something.
  18. I'm blacked out of the Cubs' broadcasts down here, but it was worth it to hear the Rox broadcast in the ninth today. And really, outside of the ninth it was a pretty aggravating game to watch. Not blacked out here; the game's TV feeds just wouldn't ever kick in.
  19. I wish I could have watched this, but MLBTV was being a [expletive] [expletive] [expletive].
  20. Donged with my own petard.
  21. How do mangled wrists fit in to this equation?!? The Dong-Gods are cruel and fickle.
  22. I think we should get credit for picking the first Cub who matters.
  23. I'm with the others who say he used to be good, even great. I think the last few years with Santo just kinda broke him.
  24. I found out from my dad that he missed the 60th birthday wish my mom got for him on the new Jumbotron the other day because he was stuck in one of the cursed Wrigley bathroom lines for nearly half an hour. This team is made of evil.
