  1. Plus bemoaning things for being cruel and then pointing to FJM and older Deadspin as something different seems pretty...faulty. Maybe your tastes have simply changed, because those sites from day one tore into people. Saying they were just the right amount of mean seems like a pretty tenuous thing to long for when odds are if FJM was still going you'd probably just now think was too cruel, too because your sense of humor has changed.
  2. But seriously, to me that rings about as true people who bemoan negative news stories like they think the world has never been more evil or worse off or who knows what. So some sites that used to be more funny changed their tone or their focus; so what? Staffs change, focuses change with outlets like that...the scope of sites available out there has never been more huge or more varied. Finding writing that's "just" funny isn't something that's harder to do now than any point in the past; it's the exact opposite. Just because FJM stopped years ago or Deadspin shifted it's content output doesn't mean there's now mean that the internet's humor quotient or whatever has simply decreased without anything to different to come along to fill that role.
  3. Get a load of gramps over here.
  4. yes, very true isn't that representative of the internet as a whole? Man, yesterday did weird things to people. No, I seriously doubt the whole of "the internet" is less funny now.
  5. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2625581/Swearing-emotional-creative-language-say-researchers-claim-GOOD-you.html http://www.theguardian.com/science/2009/jul/12/swearing-pain-scientific-research-keele Tim, why are you trying to HURT us with this senseless ban?
  6. I'm seem to recall Prior getting a decent amount of "we could be seeing one of the all-time greats"-hype a lot the whole way until he showed up. Analysts are obviously really high on Bryant, and they should be because he's like pure cut right from the Golden Triangle, but for some reason Prior seemed more next level-hyped.
  7. That's what makes the hate so strong. If they make Bryant share the retirement with Grace like they did with Jenkins/Maddux, I'm going to be really annoyed. I still get irked by that stupid Jenkins/Maddux thing. Because they're both so awesome?
  8. It's not Ross, who cares No, [expletive], UMFan is bothered by the guy hitting .333 .429 .833 1.262 (in a tiny sample size) getting a start and that's that.
  9. [expletive] THIS DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! Get some kind of stomach bug and make it tomorrow, Kris.
  10. Jeez, fine, I'll just snack while I piss like an animal so I can make it back in time.

  12. Yeah; I'm Mr. Pays No Attention to This Kind of Stuff and even I was well aware of Strasburg and Harper for a lonnnnnnng time. Bryant is gonna rule, but I don't think he's anywhere near that kind of hype. And Trout was kind of a relative slow burn, too.
  13. alcantara isn't as exciting, but he was a top 50 prospect at midseason last year, and his development continues to be pretty important to the cubs' future. As a supersub, sure.
  14. I don't dislike the guy; I'm just willing to go use the bathroom or get a snack if he's up to bat.
  15. Meh; he's just a dude.
  16. I don't know; there's still only 3 guys in the lineup that I really care about seeing in Castro, Rizzo and Soler. Everyone else is just sorta filler in terms of me not caring if I see them hit or not. Once Bryant and Russell are up...hot damn.
  17. For me I think it was the gigantic shorts. Which I know is completely hypocritical since baseball uniforms are absurd and they force old men to squeeze into them, but still, those gigantic shorts crack me up.
  18. Those were the good times. I hope all the bad things in life happen to the Blackhawks and nobody else.
  19. Must. Have. This. Guy. If Deadspin was correct, this was this dude's first pro HR, which just might be the most baller thing ever. http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--DlbJpFES--/c_fit,fl_progressive,q_80,w_636/1209868557286563912.gif
  20. http://www.picgifs.com/reaction-gifs/reaction-gifs/laughing/picgifs-laughing-35443.gif I demand Bryant Day end up being Saturday or Sunday since I can actually watch those games.
  21. The general practice has been to wait 2-3 days, and I'm assuming they'll probably do that here unless another infielder is maimed. I don't think he's been playing much LF.
  22. Yeah, I was all set for the woman getting the phone back to back up into the beer and then Old Man Sulley McBoston just swoops in and clobbers it. Glorious twist.
  23. I want Arrietta vs. Cincinnati to become a thing like Noah vs. Cleveland.
  24. NOT HAPPY ENOUGH, DAMMIT.
