  1. I said that most athletes seem to be some degree of conservative and Christian, so I really don't care if that's what Zobrist is.
  2. I hope the next person that says "pixie dust" gets [expletive] run over by a tank.
  3. I agree with Schilling for once; why are the Cardinals bothering to send Martinez back out there?
  4. It seems like most pro athletes end up at least being superficially pretty conservative/religious. Meh. Not so much. His dad is the pastor at my church. How does "not so much" possibly make any kind of sense to what I said.
  5. Now we're talking Might as well go big. You add those two to the pile of assets they can move and maybe they can get back both a big arm and a big bat when all is said and done.

  7. Eh; too old and the recent injury history makes me not a fan. Plus it seems like they'll be bringing Baez up as soon as they can. I'm still not all that optimistic about him, but it sure seems like he's who the organization is banking on replacing Castro. For some reason I feel Baez is the chip the organization most wants to trade. He wasn't their pick, and he isn't exactly the type of player they look to draft. They aren't giving him away or anything, of course. You could say the same about Castro. Of course, the big difference is that Castro has had sustained success at the MLB level...but he's got some worrying trends that have been going on for a while. Honestly, I kinda want to trade both of them at this point.
  8. Sooooooooo LeBron is reportedly opting out.

  11. I kind of doubt they'll add anything more than a bench type. Castro's been awful, but I'm assuming they'll give him time to turn it around until Baez returns. Schwarber will be up on August to play some LF. No room for a big addition unless someone gets hurt. I don't really see them taking Castro, Fowler, or Soler out of the lineup. I'd much rather they make a move to get a solid bat for LF. Coghlan's been good, but go for someone who isn't a platoon player and can provided more everyday value and impact. Combine that with Soler coming back and now the bench is upgraded with Coghlan and Denorfria available off of it more often. If they really are determined to have Schwarber stick at catcher I'd rather just keep him down and focused on playing at that spot than sidetracking him with a stint in LF. A Coghlan/Denorfia platoon is pretty good. Finding someone clearly better than that would be a) difficult and b) really expensive. I dunno, I think we're kind of "stuck" with what we have, offensively. Hope Castro, Soler, and Fowler turn it around. I don't think it would be that difficult; the Cub have a lot of assets and there's a decent selection of players likely to be available. I'm optimistic about Soler stepping it up, but Castro has shown little ability or willingness to make serious adjustments midseason. Fowler's ultimately fine for what he is and his optimum performance isn't that far off from what he's been doing. I'd want them to go out and get someone for LF who would be here this year and ideally going forward instead of just hoping for the best from a platoon.
  12. Soler should be back around next weekend Is he better offensively right now than Denorfia or Coghlan? Obviously the expectation is he will be, so any idea of curtailing his playing time for them would be ridiculous. They need him to start hitting towards his potential, and sitting him for guys like that isn't going to help in that regard. I mean, they're both just Band-Aids at best; the Cubs need an impact bat and if Soler can break out again he is that bat.
  13. Soler should be back around next weekend Probably not enough.

  15. Another inning, another RISP stranded. At some point the FO will try to do add some offensive help...right?
  16. Hey, that was nice and quick. Can you dum-dums actually score some runs now?
  17. Well, at least he's consistently bad so far.
  18. No, that was a shitty call by the umpire, you rank turd of a Cardinals fan. We get that you hate the guy.
  19. [expletive]. That first pitch was probably the best one Starlin is gonna see.
