  1. See what you guys did. http://img.pandawhale.com/post-30526-Hot-Fuzz-greater-good-gif-Simo-fRNY.gif
  2. Hamels is a stud on an ass-end team desperate to free up money and run by a moron. It's not outlandish at all to think that he could he had without being pushed over a barrel.
  3. I keep saying hey get that Trout guy from the Angels and nobody listens.
  4. I'd be fine trading Baez or Castro for him.
  5. It's almost as if he hasn't played in a month.
  6. Even if he was beating up on minor league pitching it doesn't mean his "swing is back."
  7. But that's not what he said. He simply said he may need more time to get back into rhythm, which is actually perfectly reasonable. I mean, he says lots of dumb stuff, but this probably shouldn't be included in that grouping. ETA: And then he follows up with that. Ugh. http://i.giphy.com/KYNywoibU1PQ4.gif
  8. Ah, to be a meatball; every struggle can be fixed by being sent down or being sent to the bench.
  9. I'm all about that big bat, but CarGo is not it. His numbers stink this year, plus while he may be injury-free now, his track record shows that's not likely to last. If you're moving Schwarber and others you target someone a bit younger and a lot better.
  10. Look, the obvious answer is to trade him, Schwarber and Castro. I say go nuts.
  11. No. It's been basically unchanged all season. Ah well. He's still fun to watch.
  12. That's not tremendously reassuring.

  14. Motte's K/9 the last 2 years before TJS was 8.34 and 10.75. This year it's 5.65. Unless he sustains an unsustainable BABIP he can't continue to succeed doing what he's been doing so far - not at this level, anyway. Motte has always been a fastball pitcher, yes. But he was only about 1 MPH faster those last two seasons, so velocity isn't the difference. He was throwing 20-25% cutters, and clearly it was an effective knockout pitch for him. If he's going to keep up his current success, he's going to need to get the same mileage out of that pitch. And he threw the best one I've seen him throw this season tonight. Isn't his K/9 also dragged down by how crappy he initially was?
  15. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/schmimi01.shtml Look at his first couple partial years as he tried to break in. His 40 PA year or his year where he was averageish? All either does it make me even more worried about Baez given how terrible his time was. We would have killed for him to have those numbers.
  16. Yeah, I wouldn't trade Schwarber for Hamels, but I'd have zero problem with the Cubs being proactive and trading him as a main piece in a deal for a serious impact bat.

  18. Isn't that basically all he did with the Cardinals?
  19. HAYSTACKS CALHOUN!!! https://youtu.be/JzJP-F9sMWs (It's a deep cut)
  20. Agreed. He's off my "pitchers that make me nervous when they come in" list Meanwhile, 7/9 of the lineup is on my "hitter that makes me angry when they come up with runners on base" list. Yeah, it really feels like the bullpen and offense slowly flip-flopped each other. YOU CAN GO OUT TOGETHER, YOU CRAZY KIDS.
  21. Man, I'm the opposite of some of you and I love seeing Motte go out these days.
  22. Why exactly? Not everyone hates him with a fiery passion. It's downright bizarre how some of the new posters flat out seem to enjoy his shitty season. I honestly think they'd be even more pissed off if he started doing well.
