  1. Nah, they really should trade some of them. In a deal where the value is there yes, but Hamels isn't one of those deals. You're not locked into him for more than 4 years he's making less than what he'd get as a FA right now and he's a fantastic pitcher and he's barely a year older than the lesser pitcher you're willing to sign for 5 years and more money. That's a ton of value.
  2. No The only thing I can think happened is that he keeps stumbling across the same episode...which isn't impossible given the syndication deluge.
  3. And David Ross is always secretly pining for Rachel OH DAMN WRONG SHOW.
  4. I bet Maddon always bursts into the clubhouse yelling HOOCHIE MAMA and looking for free food.
  5. Your sig pic is so depressing to look at now.
  6. Oh come on, even I'm not that dramatic .189 .293 .377 .670 in May. .240 .286 .356 .641 in June. Personally I'm glad he's only signed to one year.
  7. Lester hit one of their batters in the ankle. Ah, OK; Gameday was already in the middle of the Colon AB and then suddenly that vanished and was replaced by "injury delay" and I thought something dramatic had happened.
  8. So I see DiamondMind losing his [expletive] brains in the first inning, load up Gameday to see what happened and expect that Lester has walked a couple and given up a run or more...and find that he give up a leadoff single before striking out the next two and getting a groundout, all in 16 pitches. Holy hell, what a lunatic.
  9. Whatever the hell that is. The Bulls aren't staying static; Butler is trending in the right direction. Mirotic is trending in the right direction. Broken record that it is, Rose showed that if he can stay healthy he's still a weapon. That's a tremendous core to have, and it's one that we've not yet seen them actually play at full strength or ability.
  10. Nah, they really should trade some of them.
  11. That a pitcher as good as Hamels is only making $23.5 million the next 3 years and $20 million the 4th if the team keeps him is a damn good thing.
  12. No. He wasn't necessary for the purposes of this discussion of the core players being the same for several years. Obviously, Mirotic, McDermott, Portis, and Snell being more than role players this year would completely change things. Mirotic after a year of playing in the NBA should be a huge difference. Saying something like "Butler/Deng" just has all kinds of things wrong with it. For one, the season Butler just had is arguably better than any Deng had during his time with the Bulls. Butler simply isn't just the + role player that Deng was. Gasol is better and more valuable than Boozer. The only pairing that kind of works is Korver to Dunleavy. You're basically just saying "Body B replaced Body A" when Butler, Gasol and Mirotic are pretty big upgrades over the players you're comparing them two (or, in Mirotic's case, just leaving him out altogether)
  13. That's some pretty flimsy comparison analysis bordering on hot taking. I'm also assuming you just plain forgot about Mirotic, which is pretty damn big.
  14. How much further can his velo go down? He is what he is for the forceable future. He can spot all of his pitches and change speeds very well. He may never be a a great pitcher, but he's already a decent pitcher. That's my thinking on Hendricks. Oh, I don't think he sucks or anything; I just didn't think anyone saw him as a legitimate long term option or anything. See what you can get out of him for 3-4 years, if you can, and move on.
  15. Dunleavy has only been a Bull for 2 seasons.
  16. I like Hendricks, but I guess I just figured everyone thought he'd have a pretty short shelf life.
  17. Man, when Montero goes cold he goes cold. The last 2 weeks: 212 .278 .212 .490
  18. Except, y'know, much better.
  19. I don't think the Phillies are desperate to free up money. Not by your McDuck-ian standards, no.
  20. Yeah, Olt would likely just suck all over again, Al Contra is best not even being talked about right now and Soler coming back really just pushes Denorfia to the bench sometimes since he'll be platooning with Coghlan. The bench blooooooooows.
  21. Yeah, meatballs rant about Castro like he's baseball cancer, but other GM's are going to see a 25-year-old player signed to a very team-friendly deal who has had a lot of success already to this point in his career. No, it wouldn't be selling as high as they could have, but plenty of teams are going to look at his struggles as something they think they can fix. And Baez stills holds plenty of appeal; yeah, his risk is huge, but the potential reward is also huge. Yes, players like Almora and Vogelbach are add-ons as opposed to main pieces, but Castro and Baez are players the Cubs should rightly expect a damn good return on despite their recent struggles.
