Before they made time for him out of the hope he'd turn it around, either to make him appealing in a trade or so that he could again contribute to the team like he had before. It's now the end of July and he's looking worse than ever; there's no reason they'd need to dance around keeping him as the starter if Baez doesn't get traded. It's a non-existent problem.
