There's a lot of baseball left, but typically masochistic Cubs fans are convinced it's impossible that something like Rizzo just being Rizzo will happen.

    That's a ridiculously high standard; seems more prudent to just use him in less high-leverage spots for the time being and see if he can be salvaged in any way.

    SCS, like DiamondMind, ultimately knows he's terrible, but like some kind of bizarro junkie is unable to do anything about it despite being self-aware. They should be put in giant glass jars to be studied with oversized blades of glass for them to feed upon.

    What is the projection on Vogelbach at this point? A quick glance at his numbers this year seems to show that he's still basically a big fat power guy who's not hitting for all the much power (relatively speaking). Sexy OBP, though.

    Huh. That actually seems like the opposite of sad for me. 'Sad' because he was a great player and if not for his gambling would be in the Hall. Eh, I've never actually thought he shouldn't be in the HoF; nobody should be excluded from it. It just seems like what he really wants is to actually work in pro baseball in any capacity and that's what he should never have.

Yes, it's a sports discussion forum and people are going to lose their [expletive] when the game turns wrong (and subsequently not get it together again when things turn out allright because the vibe has turned). But when it looks like there's going to be more pages bitching at each other than actual game thread talk during the game, it's time to step in.
